Just thought about a nice dialogue.

What about this one?

Catalyst: Not exactly. The Reapers harvest fully developed civilizations, leaving the less developed ones intact. Just as we left your species when we were here last.

Shepard: Let's make a deal, kid.

Catalyst: What deal, Commander?

Shepard: The Reapers are the pinnacle of evolution and a unstoppable force, right? And your ONLY goal is to prevent total organic extinction in the galaxy?

Catalyst: That is correct.

Shepard: So, take the Reapers back to dark space and IF we do screw things up, like you are saying we will, you can come back and clean the mess. Deal?

Catalyst: Well ... that seems reasonable enough. We've never thought about that. Funny.

Shepard: *pokerface*

Catalyst: Okay then. We are leaving, sorry about the trouble.

HOLD THE LINE!

You would really hope a super-advanced computer would think to try this at some point.

Also, I would like to question THE HELL out of the line of thinking that "turning organics into the bodies of synthetic intelligences" somehow preserves the organic race. It'd be different if each Reaper were actually staffed by survivors of said race but even then you really can't sustain a viable breeding population, you'd need thousands of individuals. If you clone, you're not really preserving the race.

Ditto for the Collectors not being a "preserved" type of Prothean. And Husks not being a preserved race either. Hilarious as it would be if Shep had stormed the Citadel to discover life going on as usual. Huskified Volus running shops, Huskified Turians keeping the peace. Huskified Asari dancing on stripper poles. You know, slice-of-life material.

Trying to fight the good fight over on IGN. Kind of hard when most of the comments are about entitlement, crying, or "if you don't like mass effect don't play". With that amazing logic, how can we win? /sarcasm

Only one guy has really tried to explain things his way and kept it civil. He thinks the ending is fine, if you look at it from a certain point of view (namely a Renegade Shep)... I pointed out that it doesn't hold up so well for players who played other types. You know, those Paragons who made friends with EDI, made peace with the Geth and Quarians, etc. and were working towards a happy ending. ME has always been about choices and all we wanted is for the endings to reflect our choices and give us a range of options. My Shep would never have given in at all. He would have argued Star Child down and shown him how he just proved his entire logic completely wrong. My Shep always persevered in the face of disaster-- he saved the Council, made sure everyone survived the suicide mission when they were all told it would be a one way trip. I just want that Shepard back.

Throughout this thread I keep hearing references to an earlier draft of the conclusion (supposedly involving Harbinger possessing and speaking through the TIM's corpse and offering Shepard humanity's salvation for this cycle in exchange for the death of all other civilized races). Is there any link to where one can see this script? Was this the one that was "leaked" back in November 2011?

As do we all. My canon Shep was a paragon, even my renegade Shep has a paragon streak. That ending just isn't what any paragon Shepard would have done.

Keep fighting that good fight.
Keep it civil.
Keep holding that line.

Continue holding the line brother.

I agree with you completely. Our choices throughout the series simply didn't matter at the most crucial moment of the franchise, and that is not ok. Especially since we were promised the complete opposite.

My game Paragon Shepard(female) would have said "No." and blown him away then.

My game Paragon Shepard(male) would have opened fire then.

My fanfic Paragon Shepard(female)(male) would have said "Hell no, my fillyfriend is a pony!" and would have blasted him.

I'm still completely flabbergasted that there are people out there defending these endings. I know we're keeping it civil and respecting each other's opinions, but I just can't see how a person could defend the countless plot-holes and travesties in that clusterf of an ending.

Anyway, off to bed troops. HOLD THE LINE.

As do we all.

Let's just both remember to keep letting them know what our issues are and why.

We'll be concise, loud, and above all persistent.

Yes, I am equally as flabbergasted that professional writers seemed to think these endings were a good idea too.

A friend of mine started to play the game today, I was originally planning on warning him about the endings, but I think I'll just let him enjoy it up until the end and then at least we'll have one more on our side.

Yeah, it's almost 3 am here on the East Coast in the U.S., so it's going to slow down a bit. I work overnights, though, and as management, I have my lap top with me. So I'll be on and checking in every now and then.

Hold the line!

Let's speed em up then.

If you've told Bioware once already why your dissatisfied by all means tell them again.

i'll go first

- Choices have no impact on ending
- Complete lack of promised "variety"
- And an utterly non-sensical ending with major plotholes

Hold the line.

You could always wait until he gets to like M. Shields and then give him a wee warning.
