So, with all the drama going on here(that I'm proud to be apart of) I had not heard that the new Final Fantasy pulled something similar(if Indoc is true). Apparently the new FF ends with a "to be continued" and the producer came out to say they'll be releasing DLC to explore the "many possibilites in the paradoxical ending" or some crap.

Is this some weird trend to bomb AAA RPG titles? Did they have some conference where they talked and thought it would be a good idea to NOT end their games and sell it as DLC? It's a really odd coincidence....

An honest to goodness "to be continued" would have worked.  "Buy DLC" doesn't feel the same, particularly since they've said that DLC would be pre-ending.  Another case of bad implementation of whatever it was they were trying to do.

Indeed, the 'buy pre-ending filler missions' message at the end was kind of a slap to the face. Though I sure couldn't feel it after the true and utter hollowness the ending left me with. Silver lining of sorts I guess.

And the poll on Gamestar almost reached 58% saying "ending ruined the whole franchise" and 8.5% "I am disappointed" with 22.000 votes

If you want to participate, here is the poll (on the right side, scroll down a little, click on "Abstimmen")

Question: How did you like the ending?

Answers:
1. Very good, exactly what I was hoping for
2. Other than expected, but still good
3. Was okay, could have been better
4, I am disappointed
5. Ending ruined the whole franchise
6. Are you crazy? I didn´t even finish the game

Hold the line!

Good, though I kinda hope more people finish the game and come to the logical conclusion, aka Hold the Line.
Dieses Ende hat ganze Serie kaputt gemacht is probably one of the most fitting phrases ever uttered/typed.

Now I have to run to my translation class,
SSV Atrocity out.

I think this is not the case, unless they are stupid: you can read everywhere on the internet that the players find the game really good (and that is the case) until the end. The only problem of this game is the endings that do not provide enough changes from one to another (i.e from happy end to sad end) and the plot holes they leaves.

This is very true, but the unfortunate thing is that when people are this worked up it tends to be the negative, aggressive reactions that come to the fore and drown everything else out. As someone else wrote, nerves are raw on all sides.

I think well get a clear answer once the first dlc hits and the sales are underwhelming. Nobody is going to want to buy dlc for a game that ends this badly. There's no point in playing it.
It'd be in their interest to prioritize the endings dlc first.

You know I was thinking this too, if they want any DLC they have already made to sell well they really should put it aside until they have released a ending DLC. IMHO that would be the smartest thing to do.

Ugh. I've got to work in the morning and I should really be sleeping. I just watched the updated indoctrination vid on youtube and it's hard to believe that an ending could be written poorly enough into supporting that theory so well. There are just so many good points there. The rubble during the breathing scene really looks like the kind of rubble in London. Not like the Citadel at all. Also, I forgot about the line where Vega casually asks on the Normandy, "Anyone else hear that humming?" It's never mentioned again after that I think. Reminds me of the foreshadowing in ME1 when you're  next to the relay monument on the Citadel and Kaidan asks if anyone else hears a humming and that his teeth are vibrating.
I have a lot of doubts but I still really hope it's true.

Regardless, everyone have fun holding the line. Remember to stay civil and stay strong. Also remember we're not just asking for an ending we deserve. We're asking for an ending the franchise and all the people who made this saga what it is deserve.

Bioware I know you have it in you to change the ending, its gonna be tough but you have to bite the bullet on this one. The rest of your game was amazing but this ending has to be tweaked and clarified.

Yeah I'm not denying the game was amazing up to the last 10 mins but it's still sad to see how excited and hopeful I was and how much I did enjoy it until it was all destroyed in 10 minutes it makes me sick

Heheh when I finished ME3...I put down my beer and I stared at it, thinking "Omg...am I really *that* drunk?"

Then you watched it later sober and realised nothing of it had anything to do with that beer ?

I wonder if they won't just go and say the DLC was very successful in order to demoralize us. People on the movement will feel discouraged because they'll think that they were betrayed from the inside, suspecting their fellow retakers of complaining and announcing boycot but buying the DLC anyway. I mean, there's no way of actually telling how many times the DLC was purchased.

"Nie podoba ci się zakończenie gry? Pozwij producenta!"
title of an article on one of the largest portal in Poland
Roughly translates to: "You don't like the ending? Sue the producer"
This is what we get for someone being clever :/
The worst thing is that they connect the FTC with BioWare's yesturdays stunt with vanishing post, as if it was fan response to it...

What if we are just part of some meta-social-gaming experiment that Bioware is pulling off on us, in order for us to vent our opinions with the ending of the game.
It is possible that BW's drastic ending is only played out in Shepard's head and that Shepard is still undergoing indoctrination. Sort of like a freeze frame state where the game/story is just paused at the conduit sequence.

And we are representative of Shepard's consciousnesses where if we give in, and accept the ending as it is, the Reapers win and Shepard is indoctrinated. But if we hold the line. BW eventually releases a FREE DLC that replays the conduit sequence and we can experience the REAL ending.

They have already chosen to go with an unconventional ending. I don't see it as too much of a stretch for BW to do something like this given that everyone will be able to access this FREE DLC. Obviously I'm not one for a full-on generic "and they all lived happily ever after" ending but at least some level of closure for the future of the galaxy resulting from the consequences of our actions (Genophage cure, Geth/Quarians surviving) and each crew that we have spent so much time with.

Or maybe I'm just hoping and finding reasons/excuses to accept and move on...
