So we can't get the ending we want after all?

... I know we should be holding the line but... I'm starting to think we should focuss on the main problem. I know the ending sucks and that denies most of our actiones and choices in the entire trilogy... but the game itself its incredible despite the ending. As I said I don't know, does the game deserves this?
Hitting their pockets is im afraid the best way to get them to notice our distaste for the endings otherwise like the PR chap said they will ignore us and hope we are fickle. If it affects them finacialy then they will take very serious notice of our concerns.
And remember this is a drop in profitablity, not them losing money. Bioware arnt going bankrupt anytime this century.
I agree. The more EA/Bioware' pockets are hit, the sooner we get at least a statement.

What is the problem with getting a refund after you bought something and it was not what it was supposed to be?
For me the whole game is meaningless if the ending screws up everything, so it doesn't matter how good the rest of the game was, it just got completly ruined for me.
If people wanna give their games back for that reason, it's only right they get a full refund for it. So i don't see the big deal about it.

Agreed but they try to give the impression that Happy Endings are always sunshine endings. They are not. We are not naive. Actually Bioware's endings are stupid and as professionals they should be ashamed of their blunder, overlooking the obvious relevant endings... They should correct the endings.
And Bioware ME3 team is not my enemy. The rest of the game is quite good actually. They have put a lot of work in it. I appreciate their hard work. I want them to make better games next time. Bad endigns are related to executive decisions. The matter is a corporate problem now and EA PR guys handle it. EA execs should understand that they made a mistake. They should correct it. If don't as a customer I am telling you EA I won't buy any of your games in future just to protest you.
I agree. We lost a LOT in ME3. Friends died, the galaxy was devastated. Shepard surviving with his love interest isn't a sunshine ending. It's a hopeful one where they have a chance at a bright future. Nothing they can do will suddenly make everything that happen vanish, it won't bring the dead back or restore the broken planets. Nothing will be the same again. That part will remain. I just want to have Shep and his kids around to help fix things. At least for my main Paragon character... my Renegade Shep may have something different happen.
Indeed. Shepard surviving with the remains and his crew and LI still isn't a super happy ending, and will never become one. But to me it's the only real ending I'd want. The amount of people killed, the horrors the survivors witnessed and the sheer amount of destruction done by the Reapers will take organics decades if not centuries to recover from. I fail to see how this can even remotely be classified as 'super happy ending'.
IMO this would be a bittersweet ending. Shepard survives and can now attempt to live the life he wants either with or without LI (some people may prefer to stay in the alliance perhaps) but the damage done by the Reapers may never be fully restored and everyone is left with some degree of emotional scarring (not to the extent of ME2 Jack I hope) by what happened there.

Pretty much. I mean if there were a single plot mission in the middle of the game that made no sense and was just horrible writing but the ending made up for that then it wouldn't be such a big deal for me. I'd still be a bit dissapointed about the writing of THAT particular mission but it wouldn't be a gamebreaker. The ending just ruins whatever good feelings I got from the rest of the ME3 game. I won't be returning ME3 or anything but I'm not surprised some people actually will.

Never say no. If they will continue to fail they will be sold for a penny. Real life is full of giants' bones. There are competitors. If Bioware can't make the game we want we can always find another company. This is free market. Rivals are there.

Well capitalism has its pros as well as it cons I suppose. I'd rather not see Bioware fail (ever). But I'd also equally never like to see them lie to their customers either.

I know I know... Let me explain. I've been playing videogames since 8 (I'm 29 years old), and THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'm seeing a major worldwide retailer to offer a full refund on returning a brand new videogame.
You'll see... I'm from Spain, and no matter how little time you owned a game, no matter which retailer you go to sell it for second hand, they allways give you a 30%-40% of the original price the tittle had when you bought it. Amazon offering a full refund for the game is something completely new, specially since the game has only been out for three weeks as off today.
Still holding the line as I said but this really hurts the game, a game that AGAIN, even if it's ending sucked, doesen't stop it from being a fantastic tittle fro the rest of it. It's just that I'm shocked at how fast and how high we have reached with this situation.

will.
Exactly. One scene that really touched me in the game was the talk with Javik and he mentions how I and Tali are joined. He wonders why I would go to such lengths for them. As Shep says:
"Without them, I have nothing but death in my life and I don't want that."
Him finally earning some real rest at the end of the game to settle down with friends and loved ones... I can't think of a better reward for him. He deserves that much at least.
All I know is that in the end, I've converted Mass Effect to the GURPs system for my friends and my ending will be much different. Hell, if this really is the end, maybe I'll make up my own indoctrination ending where the party have to recruit Marauder Shields and take down Shepard.

Just finished the game. My main issue is lack of closure, but at this point, I am almost okay with how it ended (not satisfied). Way I see it, my Shepard lived, his LI lived, and there is no reason to think that they cannot be reunited. At this point, I can walk away almost satisfied (not quite, as I would like some things tied up).
I say, the more you'll think about it... you'll see more holes in the ending and be more pissed off...

I never thought I'd care this much about a game, or a game company really. They did one hell of a job to make me care about those fictional characters. I just still can't figure out how they could bomb the endings. I didn't read any of the pre-release press. I never watched BW devs' interviews. I didn't listen to the naysayers who read the leaked script. I just blindly placed my pre-order and bought the game because I knew Bioware would deliver. I didn't like DA2 but I thought "hey, this is a different team. They did a good job with ME1 and ME2, they can't fail with ME3." I play ME3 and I'm like "Bioware has redeemed itself!" and then I get to the final 10 minutes and I just...
I didn't think they'd fail me again. But they did. And when I read the developer quotes, I found out how much they lied to you guys, how much they lied to all of us. I mean I didn't even know they said what they said until I read the thread and that got me so upset. This is just so...omg it's like DA2's "press a button and something awesome happens" all over again! Only now after pushing the button, they give me crap in three different colors!
I know we're most likely in for the long haul but I just wanna say I'll be standing with you guys right til the very end. Even if things look bleak, even if the Anti-Retake movement gets 100 million supporters or if the mainstream gaming sites trash us, I'll be here holding the line (most likely with my shirt off because it's summer here!).

I'm here till the end. Our statement is clear, our cause is just. Hold the line for not just one game, hold the line for the future of gaming. Let them see that we as a consumer are not made of entitled whiny children, but of intelligent and well meaning adults.
We seek the end of an age where corporations can sell us any product no matter how poorly finished and tell us "too bad" because they already have our money. No longer will we spread good word about a product that in the end does not deliver what it promises. No longer will we back down when all the so called "experts" say our concerns are unfounded. We are the public and we set the rules for what is acceptable.
Let our outrage fill these forums. Let these faceless corporations see that rushing writers and developers can only lead to a product that will cause nothing but loss of sales and consumer mistrust. Let them see that the public will NOT tolerate an inferior product, a product that does not produce what has been promised.
Stand fast, stand strong, stand together. HOLD THE LINE!
