Is it possible that the reason we were given such a narrow spread of outcomes merely scripting tactic to pave the way for the film? If they reduce the ending to a convergent branch than divergent branch, any potential film no longer risks falling away from canon. Could it be that, at the time, it seemed like a completely reasonable idea and no-one had even considered the reception it would receive as they were looking too far ahead?

If this is the case, then fie! for shame BioWare. But yes, if they did leave it at this, they know that the film would probably lose out on a huge portion of revenue.

The film script is based on the first film, and decisions as to which parts of the game would be included in the film have already been made. The specific ending to the series would only effect the films if it forced them to write it one way...such as, say, killing off practically all life in the known galaxy as well as Shepard.

I'm sure no-one would be stupid enough to do that...

Multiple endings for ME3 would, in fact, be a HUGE bonus for a film franchise because the script writers could use or modify which-ever ending they felt fits best AND the audience will not be able to predict exactly how the series will end - which gives you 'free' marketing as the fan base argues about which ending is more likely.

Consider that if ME2 was translated into a film, even people who've played the game would not know which characters would be killed during the Collector base mission if any....

Basically multiple endings in ME3 would be a very good thing if you've got an eye towards a film trilogy based on the games. I'd also note that NO film director with half a brain would finish a film with the sort of ending we got. Even if he went with 'Shepard dies' he'd make sure we have closure.

Oh man im tired of those ppl who i need to justify myself to of being passionate about a video game. It reminds me of the time 10 years ago where you coudnt tell anyone that you like gaming or surfing in the internet / or the pc. You were called nerd and i dont know what.. Today everyone uses facebook and twitter and surfes on the internet all day long with his iphone/pad/dontknowwhat. And still are there people who cant watch over their own plate. As if those people wouldnt be angry about something they are passionate about and it got ruined.

I do think we should visit the feedback tread to keep that one moving as well. They need to see the issues over and over. Don't just post "endings sucks lol" give the reasons we have all discussed and why we feel that way.

Let's see, then all pre-release audiences are a myth, Dark Knight never got the cut after Ledger died, I am Legend must be my imagination, Hide and Seek, well that could be my imagination, I'll give them that, House never changed the ending, Oz is only 2 seasons long... Nope, absolutely no movie ever did anything like what we are asking.

I am Legend has two endings, the 'alternative' ending was in fact the original ending - and ironically the one that made sense AND what the film had been leading up to. For some reason they decided to refilm the ending, giving us one that bore little resembulance to the rest of the film.

2000 is great guys but alot of it has been "any news yet" and "hold the line" the posts need to be better content to mean something. Meaningful dialog is important.
