I still need to reboot every now and then because of the reaper upgrades. Seriously, they may be the most advanced race of beings out there, synthetic or otherwise, but their UI leaves a lot to be desired. I think it was based on Vista...

I just sprayed my kitten with water she's not please with your comment, but I am~! I think I should probably get some sleep.... I've been up almost 24 hours now.... Everything is starting to become funny.... though I'm not sure if I'm finally regaining my good humor again, or if I'm just too tired....

I would not do that too. Even if I could, cause in germay there is no refund at this moment.

As I wrote earlier I requested a refund with Amazon.de for my PS3 CE version. I could create the refund request and will send it back tomorrow. Since I have taken that hurdle I assume that I will actually receive a refund.

I will keep you posted.

Well there's a thought. Vista based geth. Since no power in the galaxy could affect them, they'd be the unstobbable force, if only they did not crash, freeze and generally not work 24/7.

I do think that's the point that all the people being negative are missing. If we hadn't bought into ME and cared about it and the characters then no one would care about a terrible ending. Instead we are all in the situation that we probably have become more emotionally invested in this game than any other, we bought into the concept, the characters, the story, everything. In my game it was MY Commander Shepard, a part of me was in that game and that is exactly what Bioware wanted from us. We believed the promises that what happened was dependent on us and our choices and that everyone would experience their own conclusion based on those same choices. Plot holes and glaring inconsistencies aside - you wanted us to care, we did - now give us the ending that rewards that emotional investment and let us say a proper goodbye to OUR Commander Shepard.

But I calm down, next Day there is no more anger about this, find something new to be angry later the Day, as usual.

So... argh.

My reaction was like  Asuras in the second part of 12 chapter, when the girl dies in fron of him. But there was no one to wake me up from that rage. So here we are waiting for Yasha (BioWare) to step up.

I might be in the minority here, but I for one am not going to return my ME3CE. Because really, aside from the last 5 minutes of the game, it is the best game I have ever played. I couldn't stop talking about it to whoever would listen. The multi-player is fantastically fun (I couldn't wait to run around as an Asari commando [in my case adept] after Benezia taunted "Have you ever faced an Asari Commando Squad").

And the fact that when I watched the endings it pretty much ruined the weekend I finished my first play through just proves how fantastic the trilogy, including 3, has been. The story and characters of ME3 are the most compelling of any video game I have ever played. I may or may not have been moved to tears at more than one point in ME3.

The fact we are so angry and betrayed is a testament to the brilliance of the first 99% of the series. Why would I return such a thing? Especially when our goal is to fix it. Returning the game seems fatalistic; if everyone returns it, who will buy it again? If I were BioWare and everyone returned the game, I sure wouldn't bother fixing the end.

Am I mad at BioWare/EA? Yes. Am I ever going to buy another product from them? Probably not (unless they fix this mess). Do I still love my ME books, comics, and games? Of course.

But I do not believe returning the game will solve anything. The fact that places are offering full refunds though... Now that is a powerful message. But I am of the opinion that if everyone returns the game, there is no incentive for EA to fix it. They will write it off as a loss and continue on churning out games with no regard to quality.

I believe that EA needs to learn that there is power in a brand (Mass Effect) and that cultivating loyalty and support around that brand (and not ruining it) is a highly profitable endeavor and as such, it is in their best interests to issue a statement saying "We messed up, we will make this right", fix it, and cash in on DLC, spin off games, novels, etc...

And as always, HOLD THE LINE!

Amazing text. I agree with you my friend. Let's hold the line B)

I'd also note that NO film director with half a brain would finish a film with the sort of ending we got. Even if he went with 'Shepard dies' he'd make sure we have closure.

Don't be too sure of that.  I wouldn't put that choice past people like Uwe Boll or Michael Bay.

Michael Bay would never end a movie like that. Too much thinking and interpretation. Honestly, I think Michael Bay would end the movie the way we all wish it would end; huge exploding reapers. Possibly with Shepard punching out the hard light image of Harbinger in that Geth VI world. Battle in the Center of the Mind style.

I find it entirely believable that Michael Bay would end Mass Effect 3 in the same way that Gurren Lagann ended. In fact, if Michael Bay has ever SEEN Gurren Lagann, I'm sure it's his favorite show.

I can see it now- the end run to the Conduit, the entire galaxy firing at Harbinger to clear the way for Shepard...

Would've made an awesome ending.

While to an extent I feel the same way, take some time to cool off if you haven't already. Watch a movie or some TV (I personally can't bring myself to touch games until this is fixed) or read an old favorite book. We're here to hold the line, but we don't want to burn out on it, so if you feel like you're at the end of your rope take a couple hours (or even a day) off. Retake Mass Effect will still be here when you get back.

I'm generally an easy going person. Things can annoy me greatly but I let them go pretty easily, or at least as best I can. Like you it has been over a week since I have finished the game and I am still feeling incredibly unhappy and upset. And as sad as it sounds I'm still hurt by the ending dammit! There's enough negativity in life, just watch the news, some of you may not agree but I wanted my Shepard to end up happy. I was happy when she reconciled with Kaidan - after 3 games of hard fighting and tough choices my Shep deserves whatever happiness she can get.

Hold onto the game at least until we get a straight answer from Bioware one way for another. If it is a no just return the game later, if it is a yes you'll at least be able to see what they come up with without having to buy the game again - I'm guessing that one option open to BW is to make an ending DLC free to download for those with registered copies but which second hand copies have to pay for. Much as the Cerberus network and its DLC worked in ME2.

In the meantime just don't play the game.

I still have my PC CE version, which I am not giving back.

But by giving back my unused PS3 CE version I can hurt EA/Bioware at least a bit.

may i ask, what exactly is the consumerist?

It's a website (Link) that gives exposure to consumers who are having product satisfaction issues. Which is exactly what we're having with EA/Bioware.

Wow, that was quick. I was just thinking that it felt really wrong that the media was trying to spin it the other way around.

Ok, had to pick one comment from the BBC article and post it here:
Hazel-Rah, I would hardly call the protesters "respectful". One look at the game developers' official forums shows a torrent of vitriol towards the makers of the game, from threats about direct action to promises of harrassment of all sorts. One incident even involved someone asking for recruits to become suicide bombers for the developer's offices.

It's gone far enough, in my opinion.

I think his lying as fast as his typing, BUT it's still a good reminder what we should not under any circumstances do. These kind of people have already enough ammunition, and considering the relevant ignorance of the public, they don't need more.

I really haven't kept an eye on rest of the threads, other than this and 'we are listening', but I know rest of you have and will do, so I'm asking for you to try to stop this kind of thing if it happens in the threads/other forums/etc you visit.

Actually anything over 40k words is a novel. NaNoWriMo requires them to be at least 50k words.

The way I always understood it, anything from 1,000 words to 10,000 words was a short story, 10,000 to 50,000 a Story, and anything significantly more than that (like 70,000 plus words) would be considered a novel.

I don't live in the US so things might be taught/classified somewhat differently here

I'm in the UK and that's what I've always been taught to base it on. I'm kind of an aspiring author with severe motivational issues, but it's what I was lead to base my wordcount on. After all, in a standard print edition, 50k words is about 150+ pages I think. It's the smaller end of novel scale, but a novel nonetheless. But you're right, on average it's probably closer to 60-80k for your average scifi novel.

It works out to about  250 words per page, so about 40 pages per 10,000 words. So a 100k word novel ends up around 400 pages.

People returning their copies, that of course is entirely up to you, but that is going to mean a financial loss for Bioware, we are not at war with Bioware, we are fighting because we care, if they get financial problems then it's going to be difficult for them to develop more content, that includes any new endings.

Looking at the BBC article, came across this comment:

"Hazel-Rah, I would hardly call the protesters "respectful". One look at the game developers' official forums shows a torrent of vitriol towards the makers of the game, from threats about direct action to promises of harrassment of all sorts. One incident even involved someone asking for recruits to become suicide bombers for the developer's offices.

I would like to point out a very obvious ****** here: "One look at the game developers' official forums" Yes, because "One look" is obviously all they chose to give it. Maybe a second look, or just a longer examination that a cursory glance would show that there is a multitude of positive, constructive criticism in threads such as these.

These are the people we are fighting against my friends. These are the people we need to be wary of and also attempt to enlighten. They are the ones who form opinions quickly without any true basis on facts. The people who take opinions from places like IGN and other such gaming media sites as golden truth.

We must not react abruptly or offensively to these people, as that will reinforce their views. Only with cogent, civil debate will we be able to show that we are not the spoiled children we are made out to be. Sadly, history and experience is against us, but if we keep it together and hold the line, we can win through.
