I might be in the minority here, but I for one am not going to return my ME3CE. Because really, aside from the last 5 minutes of the game, it is the best game I have ever played. I couldn't stop talking about it to whoever would listen. The multi-player is fantastically fun (I couldn't wait to run around as an Asari commando [in my case adept] after Benezia taunted "Have you ever faced an Asari Commando Squad").

And the fact that when I watched the endings it pretty much ruined the weekend I finished my first play through just proves how fantastic the trilogy, including 3, has been. The story and characters of ME3 are the most compelling of any video game I have ever played. I may or may not have been moved to tears at more than one point in ME3.

The fact we are so angry and betrayed is a testament to the brilliance of the first 99% of the series. Why would I return such a thing? Especially when our goal is to fix it. Returning the game seems fatalistic; if everyone returns it, who will buy it again? If I were BioWare and everyone returned the game, I sure wouldn't bother fixing the end.

Am I mad at BioWare/EA? Yes. Am I ever going to buy another product from them? Probably not (unless they fix this mess). Do I still love my ME books, comics, and games? Of course.

But I do not believe returning the game will solve anything. The fact that places are offering full refunds though... Now that is a powerful message. But I am of the opinion that if everyone returns the game, there is no incentive for EA to fix it. They will write it off as a loss and continue on churning out games with no regard to quality.

I believe that EA needs to learn that there is power in a brand (Mass Effect) and that cultivating loyalty and support around that brand (and not ruining it) is a highly profitable endeavor and as such, it is in their best interests to issue a statement saying "We messed up, we will make this right", fix it, and cash in on DLC, spin off games, novels, etc...

And as always, HOLD THE LINE!

I wonder what he had been drinking to come up with that story. MAybe it helps to sell the news, or maybe he just hopes to get us rounded up with the Patriot Act and sent to Guantamo..

That would be quite a laugh, a bunch of gamers mixed with real terrorists because some people in the media believes we are terrorists. Has anyone seen something like this before???

What's this all about?

Somebody on the BBC article apparently wrote:

"...Also they are trying to recruit suicide bombers for an attack on the Bioware HQ...this has gone to far!"

Oh, and my question in the last post was actually sarcasm like: "Are we? We are certainly not!"

However if we don't hurt them somehow, they'll ignore us, as that is significantly easier then actually giving into our demands.

You hurt them by stating and sticking by not making any future purchase of full games and/or dlc if they do not come through with a decent ending to ME3.

I'd also note that NO film director with half a brain would finish a film with the sort of ending we got. Even if he went with 'Shepard dies' he'd make sure we have closure.

Don't be too sure of that.  I wouldn't put that choice past people like Uwe Boll or Michael Bay.

Aarghh! You mentioned his name....

People returning their copies, that of course is entirely up to you, but that is going to mean a financial loss for Bioware, we are not at war with Bioware, we are fighting because we care, if they get financial problems then it's going to be difficult for them to develop more content, that includes any new endings.

However if we don't hurt them somehow, they'll ignore us, as that is significantly easier then actually giving into our demands.

But if BW goes down, than there will be no endings at all. We should still show our support untill they say something. If they say, that there will be no new endings, then we should give our copies back but not bevor that.

In germany the price for the Standard Edition droped from 49,99€ to 39,99€.

Then they will never say there won't be, but they won't ever work on them. Bioware isn't some tiny company, they just got a large influx from all the ME3 pre-orderes, they easily have the financial resources to fix this, and all it would take is for one person to say "hey, we're making it" and almost all of this would blow over in a heartbeat. If Bioware goes down, they brought it on themselves. If they had said a few days ago that they'd work on one, none of the price drops would have happened. The longer they wait, the worse it gets, and I personally have washed my hands clean of this, as it would be so so easy for bioware to fix this.

the BBC can talk, they jumped into bed with BSKYB and tens of thousands of decent tax payers and license payers complained and set up polls, and even tried to get the government to stop the deal. needless to say, the dirty bbc/sky/ecclestone deal went through and now bbc customers get half the live races. disgusting broadcasting corp, the license should be scrapped and the BBC pulled down, filthy dirty birds

How did they jump into bed with Sky?! They don't have the money and had to make a really awful decision with what they did. They're sad about it, as are the fans. Most are being a bit more grown up about it.

I love the BBC. They'll never be able to please everyone, but they're the exact people we want this story to be with. I'm so happy they picked up on it.

I'm generally an easy going person. Things can annoy me greatly but I let them go pretty easily, or at least as best I can. Like you it has been over a week since I have finished the game and I am still feeling incredibly unhappy and upset. And as sad as it sounds I'm still hurt by the ending dammit! There's enough negativity in life, just watch the news, some of you may not agree but I wanted my Shepard to end up happy. I was happy when she reconciled with Kaidan - after 3 games of hard fighting and tough choices my Shep deserves whatever happiness she can get.

I don't think there's anything shameful in being so broken up over "just a video game." Stories are powerful things to humans. No one would dare mock someone for being so broken up over "just a novel." Stories are stories, regardless of the medium.

I also don't think there's anything shameful in wanting a happy ending. I do. It's nonsense that only dark endings have artistic merit. To quote Jeremy Jahns' excellent YouTube video, "The phrase 'the hero has to anything' in a game like Mass Effect that's built around choice and you picking your own destiny - it goes against everything that Mass Effect is all about." Why not have a happy ending? Why do what is considered "edgy" rather than what fans choose?

 This  so much!
I know, and I find games like these so much more engaging than a book,  because I can make choices in the story myself. But we still get labeled as 15 year old fanboys that are entitled. Though many of us are older and not even male.

And the whole shepard has to die, tragic endings are mature, and happy endings are disney angers me.

Pax seems so far away, April 6 to today's March 20, but we can outlast Bioware, and we can Hold the line till then, if that's what it takes to get this situation taken care of.

In Game Design class right now, and we spent the first 40 minutes talking about Mass Effect 3, my teacher points out the points we did in his words:

"1.There are plot holes big enough to fly the normandy through.....oh wait they actually did that.

2. Supposed to be 15 endings, but actually 3 for those who are tough on the game."

Me talking: "Actually more like 1 with 3 different colors." (I got the whole class including the teacher to laugh and agree with meImage IPB

"Teacher talks more
3. For Bioware being a great writer of stories, they have completely lost me on how they could write an ending like this.

4. Did I mention the plot holes??

5. In ME2, you destroy a relay which in turn causes a supernova that destroys an entire system.....then in ME3 the choice is destroy relays kill everyone and....that's it. You've just destroyed the entire galaxy."
Me speaking up in class: "Techincally you just killed more people than the reapers ever have. Image IPB" They again laughed and agreed with me. Being in this class I've been able to laugh really hard for the first time since I finished ME3. I love this class.Image IPB

As the OP said, that is quite a strong possibility, however it not the only one. Please don't take that I am telling people to return, for that is not true. I am not returning my game either so you know.

One fact that is certain is that if too many customer's return their ME3 games, Bioware/EA will have no further interest in developing anything for the game. However, regarding the new titles, if a lot of people end up returning the games, it mau just show Bioware/EA that we, as customers, are no longer satisfied with flawed and sub par games. It would show them that we demand more for what we are paying, and if they cannot offer what we expect they will just have to cut the losses over and over, until they either learn to make better games such as they did in the past, or until they finally close their doors.
