That sounds kinda rough.
I mean there should be some idea behind the scen shouldn't it?
Even EA wouldn't publish an unfinished game... or maybe yes... what do I know?!
They already admitted they switched the endings from basically the indoctrination one in the Final Hours stuff. Sadly it happens all the time.. even Halo had to cut stuff from the 3rd game, mind you they knew enough, because their project management team was absolutely incredible, in advance they were able to salvage it so most people don't even know WHAT they cut.
Microsoft's testing division is world class.. I suspect Bioware's is too.. just watch, I think it's Halo 2's special edition disc. They go into some of it. Basically build testing over night and fixing stuff the next day.. it's nuts.. I wish I had their stuff at work haha, all I have are unit tests and guinea pigs.. who are usually end usershaha.
ALL game studios are under pressure to get as much as they can on disc.. the rank and file don't want to release a half released game. It's usually management who says "Ok we need to do this". In this case I suspect Casey Hudson and the leads were directed by EA to "Release this on this date or you will pay penalties or suffer the curse of the fleas of a thousand camels.. or something" I just suspect there was pressure from the parent company.. the studio obviously knew they were not going to have the time, it's why they started buying stock photos. So they pushed it right up to the end to do that, unfortunately it shows in this case.. it DOES happen.. however, this day in age, Bioware can make it right.. whether or not they do is a different story. Sometimes companies get away with it, sometimes they don't.. this time they didn't. Instead of becoming the game that bombed because of the ending, they could fix it now.. I'd take that as a gift, not a slap at their 'art'...
Not to mention if you're going to call it art now you really shouldn't have 'fixed' someone's novels hahaha. Though I think that move was as deserved as changing the ending to ME3 too.. 90% of software is only finished when the next version comes out, most GAMES are the same way, just look at the bug/content fixes... look at MMOs.. they should be used to this by now.. especially with MMOs and how often they update content/story/gameplay...

the funny part is - I want that game - I know people that have it and love it - its what fable should of been......
But can't; same with Syndicate......again I want that game - but won't.....until this resolved.
I'm assuming that this is a different Syndicate than the one released by Bullfrog in '93 followed up by the awesome, Matrix inspiring Syndicate Wars.
Ahh, it's the same franchise. I wonder if EA can kill that one too...

A good read, that sums it up. I am still
hoping that the next DLC will prove the indoctrination theory, so the
actual ending would make sense.

...actually, now that I think of it, if we want to shift the perception of RetakeME3 from "spoiled fans" to "dissatisfied customers," we should get in touch with The Consumerist. That's kind of their thing. Does someone want to contact them?
This is an EXCELLENT idea.
But whoever contacts them (I can't as I have to log off in a moment) has to make his or her point very, very succintly, and with no recourse to sentimentalism at all.
Okay, I'm doing it. They ask for a link to a webpage and a comment. I'm linking to this Forbes article and saying the following in the comment:
"Customers who bought the video game Mass Effect 3 are upset with its ending - it does not fulfil the expectations of the series or the promises made by the developer. Worse, upset consumers are being dismissed as "whiny fans" rather than listened to as "dissatisfied customers." Not only is this a problem specific to this game, it speaks to a toxic mentality in the industry as a whole. I would be interested in The Consumerist's take on the issue. And yes I also know on how much pressure developers have to work.
But do you have any evidence for the end-change? Honestly, this would be interessting.

Expanding on that: It's also important to point out that the game itself IS NOT ART but rather it is A STORY. Is there art in this story? Why yes there is and it's fantastic(even with google images). ART doesn't have to make sense but STORIES absolutly do and the Mass Effect 3 ending absolutly DOES NOT. So that guy is 100% wrong.
The 'art' or 'story' arguments are besides the point.
Mass Effect 3 is a product that has failed to live up to the expectations of Biowares customers. It is also a product that is ends in a way we were specifically told it would not.
This is a point that should be made constantly. We are consumers of a product, and we should have the same rights as someone who buys a car or a washing machine.

No, but seriusly the only thing I can accept as a possible solution is that they needed more time, but EA was behind them with a pitchfork.
Damn rEApers...
I've actually spoken with a high-end EA shareholder who admitted to pushing for advanced release dates at meetings. Like us, he is a gamer and was capable of listening to reason. "You do realize, that if this project falls on it's face on release, you'll be hurting your investment, right?" That wasn't ME though, nor was the often demonized CEO. It was shareholder pressure.
