Does anyone else find it ironic that they included a 'Story' mode...given the nature of the ending?

I do...
What's the difference anyways? Between regular RPG and story mode, I mean. Just the difficulty settings?

Yeah.  RPG is the normal Mass Effect Difficulty, Story mode pretty much ensures you probably won't be dying, and hardcore is the reason some of the fans still haven't reached the endings and joined the line ;P

As far as I know, the combat is set to casuel. So in the most cases you are not going to die.

That was all probably rather long and likely to get lost in a matter of moments within this monster thread but I wanted to share my experiences and thoughts so far with you all. One final thought for all involved (fans wanting change, fans happy with the endings, developers, journalists and reviewers):

Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

Well said, well said.  Welcome to the fleet.

Thanks friend. I only hope I can make a positive impact, however small.

Btw, my comment is two above yours

So I noticed! I rated it up.

@Hazelrah:  Thanks for the post.  It's good to hear from lurkers lest we fall into the "group think" syndrome :)

In recent days a few things have happened to cause small fractures (such as people returning their copies of games while others are pained at seeing a developer they care about being hurt). To address this directly people need to make their own choice and should be free to do so. For those who are saddened by this I would suggest encouraging those who are returning copies to stay as part of the movement. You never know, if BioWare did decide to fix this ending then perhaps these fans may one day come back to the company you are a fan of. Keep things positive.

I'm one of those folks that have an RMA in hand from Amazon.com [US].   After some discussion with other fans I'm giving BW about 2 weeks.  If I don't hear anything by then I'm going to return my CE, donate any funds realized to charity.

If / when Bioware does a good to great job fixing the ending I intended to rebuy EVERYTHING I can lay my hands on.  Not only this but I'll be touting the virtues of this game to every single "nerd" that I happen to know.   If everyone in my boat promises to do the same I don't see that much of a problem returning the game.   The worst thing for us is we may have to go to the trouble of buying everything again but for me it would be worth the price IF Bioware fixes the ending and lives up to promises.

Many treat us like cry babies. As we are spoiled children complaining about this ending.
It gave me the idea to start a poll about the average age of ME players.

Part of me worries that "collecting more data" and "waiting for more people to play the game" translates into "waiting for more people to buy the game before we announce no new endings" and that is why we are getting the silent treatment.

If that is the case, bioware/ea will never receive another dime from me. I won't be treated that way.

In truth that's probably the most sensible thing you can do if you're returning the game. Obviously the charity benefits which is a positive but also you're a fan which BioWare can win back. While the prospect of losing fans is not something they as developers will want to face, there is equally no point in them designing something if everyone stated that no way will they ever buy anything from BioWare ever again. The fact that they can win fans back who are returning the game is incentive and keeps your opinions valid to them.

I refuse to let this game spoil my entire game enjoyment paradigm. I have very little else in my life right now except games. With such a great series in my possession, I will not let the deformed brainchild of a late night scribblethon ruin what I have.

As was advertised at the very beginning of the series "Many decisions lie ahead, none of them easy." Well, we made those difficult decisions. If they had said "And in the end it won't really matter" then somehow I don't think this series would have sold nearly as well. If this was the plan from the word go, then the reason they never hinted at it was because they knew that it wouldn't sell. Instead we got hooked on the ideal of hope that spanned the first two series, and then when we would pay through the nose to get the ending we all thought was coming, they dropped down and gave us a punch that we will never forget.

What we have been given is a blow delivered below the belt. It is c.ock of the poppyest variety. If this is what was intended from the outset then not only have BioWare failed us, they have failed themselves. And if it was a last minute decision instead during the final installment of the trilogy then the result is still exactly the same. Whether you see it as betraying the fans, or selling out the series, this was cheap. It looks cheap, it feels cheap and it plays cheap. If it were a West End Musical it wouldn't last a week.

So I am retaking Mass Effect. I am retaking my wasted hours and putting them back to good use. Everything I stood for and fought for with my Shepards has had meaning. Every choice has had an effect. Every action has had a purpose. I am taking this series out of their hands and putting it back into my own, where it will be treated with the reverence it deserves. I defy BioWare, and I deny that abortion of an ending that they have force-fed us like geese.

Mass Effect is mine. Mass Effect is yours. It is ours, but it is no longer theirs. It ceased to belong to them when we fell in love with it and made it our own in our minds. That is the Mass Effect that they can never take away from you. Your journey with your team mates is real, and it mattered. You saved the galaxy from countless threats and don't let them fool you otherwise. Everything you did had a result, it helped shape you as you shaped the story we all lived together, but on our own.

Mass Effect does not stop here, and it will never stop here. I will not let them take it from me. I and my Shepard stand side by side. There is always another way and nothing that they can say can make us believe otherwise. I am going back to the source, and I am going to take back the joy which kept me going for the past four years. If I cannot do this then I will have let them ruin it for me, I will have given up and I will have abandoned my Shepard just as badly as they have.

This is why I am here. This is why I hold the line. And I'm damned if I'm moving until I've got some answers.

I was expecting a boss battle with Harbinger, myself. Since they didn't give me one, I came up with an idea on my own. What do ya think?

TO EVERYONE WANTING A BATTLE WITH HARBINGER:

With the Geth Fighter mission and the Project Overlord DLC, interacting with an AI world is possible soooo...

Using Indoc Theory, relying on plot change back to Dark Energy stated by this guy (awesome overall info and ideas), how about there is no interface or protocols for using the weapon? An interface could be brought by Geth or from Citadel maintenance VI overwhelming Shepherd like in Overlord. She/he sees everything that the Citadel sees and he mentally projects (points gun if necessary to keep a mental handle on the situation) damage to a nearby Reaper, the crucible fires and immense blast that rips the Reaper in half.

(mentally projecting defense in form of shields) Reapers attacks against the crucible fail. Harbinger attaches himeself to the Citadel and then Shepherd and Harbinger dialogue and then fight in the virtual world. War assest and readiness come into play at a crucial moment, when Hackett notices the the crucible is no longer firing and commands all available fleets to attack harbinger while he's attached to citadel, at the same moment Harbinger is winning the virtual world fight but if he is damaged significantly he can't maintain his virtual attacks on Shepherd.

Insert awesome quotes, fight sequences/moments, and there ya go.

THOUGHTS?? B)

They wont do it, The undertaking necessary to actually satisfy us is Colossal. Or like Salarian Councilor said "that would be a colossal undertaking... do we even know it will work?"

Same applies here. We all know the game was pure gold up until we got hit by harbinger.
The ending is missing not only closure for us, our sheperd which we have gotten attached to over the years, but our friends teammates, and simple acquientances (do not know if is right spelling).
There is no 2hr dlc... there is  no multiple dlc's that can fix this. They ommitted so much nothing short of an expansion can satisfy the majority of us. They dropped the ball.
-One Scenematic for space battle? ME1 had 2 at least... beginning and soverign's death... thik there was a third one in between.
-Where are the krogan
-The geth
-The Rachni
-Aria's Mercenaries
-From the time we attacked Cerberus HQ to going to earth it wasn't more than a day given that nobody had realized the citadel was missing until the last moment. So what happended to Aria? her mercenaries, C-sec? the militia?
- Where are the Salarian Dreadnaughts? The Geth fleet? yes we see a geth platform "reporting" where is their fleet in the scenes like over rannoch?
-Where is harbinger
-Where is the fight through the citadel rather than magically arriving at the end point?

Hell I was half expecting to actually see the krogan ride those toxic immune recently cloned mounts I recovered from them...

point being... which we alreayd know, nothing we've accomplished mattered, nothing or noone we got together matters.

I'm keeping my game, simply because I dont return games for 5 bucks heck no. The multiplayer is fun to an extent but Bioware lost me and my friends as a customer. They wont get me back, they wont get most of us back the probability of them remaking the ending to actually make all those "thousands" of markers count would be less likely than jesus returning tomorrow or something.
