Wow over 200 pages of people freaking out about an ending which they have very little context. Sorry even a poster describing a ending without the context of the full game is simply not enough context....never mind the TONE the ending actually takes.

The only thing you can do to fairly judge is PLAY THE GAME.

Really the posters in this thread mostly deserve to be trolled. If you are going to be illogical about something, prejudging without seeing the full picture, I am going to call a spade a spade and drop a bomb on you.

Canceling a preorder and not buying the game because of a leak you have not seen the full picture of is idiotic and illogical. Simply put.

And facts are facts, ME3 will have more ending variations than any Bioware game ever. Lets see, BG games can have up to three, KOTOR has two, JE has two true and one false ending, ME1 has 2 variations of two endings, DAO has 4 with sloppy ending cards, ME2 has 3 endings varying body count, and DA2 has two.

ME3 has 7

And did your choices really matter in old Bioware games? Except for maybe a choice or two at the ned. No. Hell, DA2 has the old games beat on choice and consquence from the Deep Roads decision alone, nevermind the fact that it affects DLC as well. Still TW2 crushes it. Facts are facts, ME3 has beter choice and consquence than all other Bioware games.

Fans make out older Bioware games as better than they are, they were great for their time, but their writing flaws and the lack of choice shows bigtime now.

Why pay for it if this is possibly true. why not wait until we know for sure. we can save money.

and why freak out over everything. Hell, I am not going to like EVERYTHING about ME3, but I am still going to get it.

It's your money.

Three endings. One with two slight variations and one with three. The last one has no alternatives.

This. I learned my lesson with DA2. Wait for a game to come out first before I start shoveling money its way.

The difference is DA2 had clear warning signs like its development cycle...ME3 does not. The difference was the game looked shoddy in previews while you are judging ME3 on a leak thats not supposed to come out that doesn't give th efull picture.

And DA2 was not bad.....it was DA's version of KOTOR II, better written but with far less polish.

Better written? Really? And ME3 has had plenty of warning signs. The leaked script being one that turned out to be dead on and then the introduction of the Jersey Shore Effect. Other than that yeah, no warning signs at all.

They're the endings. Why do you need dialog? Shepard could say, "See you in hell Reapers!" or "My only regret is that I didn't sleep with Garrus, twice." and the endings would still be that same.

I'm saying none of it makes any damn sense.  If people are right, that all of these endings destroy eezo technology, the galaxy is in complete shambles.  I'm sorry, but I have more faith in BioWare than that.  Not to mention, Sol will be crazy overpopulated with krogan, geth, quarians, turians and so forth.  None it it adds up.  I need some more context.  Why is that so frelling hard to understand?

Context is everything. From what I've been reading in the "Spoiler'd" discussion group, there is a sense by everyone on the ship that Shepard isn't coming back from this, and any squadmate/Normandy crew romances you have end with a conversation that has a note of finality (unless you've been romancing Thane - according to the leaked script, he has a final dialogue with FemShep after the Udina attempted coup where she recites a Drell death prayer).

I don't think there's any way to change the endings, given what we now know. If you're really hurting, the best course of action in a playthrough (from what I've seen) is to send A/K off as a war asset, leave Tali unrecruited and go for the "Destroy" ending with full completion. I likely won't care much about Vega anyway, and I'll write Garrus, EDI and Joker off as "acceptable losses".

This ending just reminds me too much of Halo 3.

Never played Halo 3 but I know about it and how it disappointed many.  Still, the series came out with ODST which I heard some good about and Halo: Reach which I played (my first Halo game since Halo 2) and very much enjoyed (and it had a "bittersweet" ending given that Reach is lost and you know it's going to happen)  and now Halo 4 is in the works so who knows...

There's a lot Mass Effect can come out with.    A First Contact War game.  A MMO.  A post- Shepard game.... lots of possibilities.  BW/EA have a hit/money maker with Mass Effect.  They're not done with it yet, bank on it.

I don't think they're going to end either.  Someone said that if there is another game, it will be set in the past.  I highly doubt that.  Fans will want to move forward.  We'll want to know what happened after.  I just don't believe we have all the context to what actually has happened. I don't care what people say.

they have already proven that what the "fans" want is no where near important to them.

Yeah, until I play the game myself and have full and complete context, not silent videos, nothing is proven.  There are too many inconsistencies here.  I'm not in denial, I'm just not jumping to frelling conclusions because of some silent videos online.

To go with those silent videos..

I'm not being given every single bit of dialogue.  Please, send me to a link that shows me every bit of dialogue before, after, and during these cutscenes.  These means nothing to me.

They're the endings. Why do you need dialog? Shepard could say, "See you in hell Reapers!" or "My only regret is that I didn't sleep with Garrus, twice." and the endings would still be that same.

It doesn't have to add up. They're not touching this particular story anymore. It's clear the writters didn't have a plan from the start. There is nothing to understand. The galaxy can be in complete shambles. It doesn't matter.

/facepalm

My gods.  Here's the thing no one is counting on.  EA is their publisher.  It doesn't matter if the writers don't care about the story.  EA tells them "you have to make sure this is open to a sequel", and you can bet that's what they do.  EA would not let them do this.  Mass Effect is a money maker, and there's talk of a frelling theatrical film.  Ending Mass Effect so that the series can't continue *at all* would cause problems for future marketing of the game.

Does anyone here understand how corporations and business works?

Merging and controlling always result in the death of Shepard. Always. The crew is stranded regardless. What changes is whether or not you've merged them with synthetics/destroyed synthetics, who you were pals with, who survived etc.

Just curious, does it mention anywhere what happens to Miranda? Because it seems as if all your friends on the Normandy crew are boned in Paragon/destroy (and every other choice), but Shep still has a chance at surviving. And if he does, and Miranda's not on the Normandy.. I can still get happy end. Not sure if victory.. Anyone know what happens?

Nevermind the fact that their ar emore customization options than ME2 fo rboth weapons and powers and nevermind the fact that choice actually matters the entire game for the FIRST time in a bioware game.

At one time, it was rumored that she was supposed to die in her side mission, but judging from the leaked script (which has Joker reporting cheerfully that Oriana was rescued from her father), it doesn't seem like she's going to die.

Actually on the contrary - it gives them a gloriously clean slate to work with in the ME universe - they can quite literally go anywhere with it.

Doesn't matter if homeworlds were destroyed or not - they can just claim the damage to the homeworld by Reapers was so bad - the race set a new homeworld.

They can create whole new technologies from scratch without relying on Reapers or Relays.

They literally have an IP with the races in the universe rearing to go for all kinds of stories set anywhere from immediately to thousands of years in the future.

Why?  My guess is we still don't know everything.  People seem to just want to complain without actually having played the game.  I'm called a lemming because I want context, but people are blindly following the words of people that have supposedly "played the game", "tested the game", or "extracted the files from the game".  Hell, if I didn't know any better, I'd say all of this is being done by BioWare devs just to troll the hell out of everyone.  Everyone believes this is going to happen, insults the devs, and then all of those people look like morons.

But hey, we won't know until after Tuesday, will we?

Joker + 2: the camera will focus on the hatch and it will open up. Joker will walk out of the Normandy, along with 2 henchmen. The 2 henchmen that will come out will be the ones that the player has the highest relationship rating with. This includes Cortez/Traynor if they were romanced. 3. Edi & Joker + 2: the camera will focus on the hatch and it will open up. Joker will walk out along with EDI. They are followed by two henchmen and again, these two henchmen will be determined by whoever the player has the highest relationship rating with. Everyone’s eyes will be glowing cause they’re now all partially synthetic. This will only fire if the Synergy option was taken.

Which means the endings are varied.

Actually the synergy ending is far more like Invisble War's JC ending than Deus Ex.

Ah... Is it only ONE of the 7 endings people are ****ing about?!? Oh dear....

Three endings. One with two slight variations and one with three. The last one has no alternatives.

so the destruction of Earth, the death of Shep, and the DEATH, not the stranding, of the Normandy crew are "slight" (one ending possibilty was the Normandy hatch opening and no one coming out).....ummmm no.

Merging and controlling always result in the death of Shepard. Always. The crew is stranded regardless. What changes is whether or not you've merged them with synthetics/destroyed synthetics, who you were pals with, who survived etc.

If this was a murder investigation and this is all the evidence you brought to court you would be laughed out of the building 4 videos with no sound and no context and absolutly nothing on stranded normandy

Luckily this isn't a murder investigation and a discussion on a video game then hmm?

Be rational your argument is based on nothing this entire thread is pointless and I won't lie i got caught up in ti to then i took a step back and said WTF was i thinking
