You know I am actually sick of hearing about the Indoctrination theory, isn't this exactly what Bioware wanted? they wanted US to make up the ending....looks to me like they succeeded. Instead of just saying the ending makes no logical sense at all, people are clinging to an indoctrination theory proving Bioware right and giving them exactly what they wanted from making the ending.

*cough* sorry, I guess that has just kind of been boiling in me for a little while now.

Yeah but if you actually read about IT you'd realize it's not "made up". A lot of things throughout the game point to Shepard being indoctrinated.

Back on the Line. Any news?... preferably good.

They tweeted that we shouldn't expect a statement for at least a fortnight.

On-Topic: So it seems like we won't get an answer for at least a few weeks?

I was expecting a boss battle with Harbinger, myself. Since they didn't give me one, I came up with an idea on my own. What do ya think?

TO EVERYONE WANTING A BATTLE WITH HARBINGER:

With the Geth Fighter mission and the Project Overlord DLC, interacting with an AI world is possible soooo...

Using Indoc Theory, relying on plot change back to Dark Energy stated by this guy (awesome overall info and ideas), how about there is no interface or protocols for using the weapon? An interface could be brought by Geth or from Citadel maintenance VI overwhelming Shepherd like in Overlord. She/he sees everything that the Citadel sees and he mentally projects (points gun if necessary to keep a mental handle on the situation) damage to a nearby Reaper, the crucible fires and immense blast that rips the Reaper in half.

(mentally projecting defense in form of shields) Reapers attacks against the crucible fail. Harbinger attaches himeself to the Citadel and then Shepherd and Harbinger dialogue and then fight in the virtual world. War assest and readiness come into play at a crucial moment, when Hackett notices the the crucible is no longer firing and commands all available fleets to attack harbinger while he's attached to citadel, at the same moment Harbinger is winning the virtual world fight but if he is damaged significantly he can't maintain his virtual attacks on Shepherd.

Insert awesome quotes, fight sequences/moments, and there ya go.

THOUGHTS?? B)

Remind me why you're not working for BioWare again? That's the best ending I've heard yet. You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

May I use this in my fic?<3<3<3<3

Are you writing a book or just personal stuff?

Personal stuff. All just for fun. And catharsis.

Go right ahead then. God knows if it helps you work around the psychological damage that ending has inflicted on us, do it. B)

Just had a look at IGN's 'Are you happy with the end of Mass Effect 3' poll on Facebook...over a thousand people are happy with it...to the over 13,000 that aren't so far.

Did that backfire for them or what? ^^

Heh I'd say that's a win of rus. Especially because that PROVES our numbers to an extent. FB profiles are a bit more of a pain to set falsies up of then forum socketpuppet accounts

I half expect that poll to disappear by this time tomorrow.

EA distancing itself from BW, at least as far as Origins goes, isn't that surprising. If EA gets too close to BW there is a very good chance that Origins is going to get caught in the crossfire, and they want that to be their version of Steam.

From EA's viewpoint it is better to make sure Origins isn't dragged into the cross hairs, since ME3 is one game while Origins will end up supporting all of EA's releases.

Besides which, EA doesn't have all that great a reputation and getting directly involved would A; Only make things worse and B; further damage EA image.

Nope. It looks like they're shooting for a PAX - or an immediately pre-PAX - statement. I say that because it would be insane and PR suicide to show up at PAX with nothing to say on the matter.

Another grate post and yes I have noticed that thing appear to be moving far faster than expected (not like i know anything about how this stuff works) but this is new in my 25 years of gaming I have never seen anything like it and I am proud of us all.

hold the line we can do this.

Yeah.. a month for start to confirmation of a new story arc is insane in the gaming/entertainment world.  Even the fact they're already going to announce something amazes me how much we've impacted them.

Mind you, ~$75,000 donated from 'entitled whiners' in a week isn't too shabby either.

I'd just like to point out that I DON'T want to see this become routine.. I've seen that in the media "Will this revolutionize game design"...etc.  I'd rather this be the exception to the rule.. the milestone that set the standard expected by the community.  If we have to do this every time we have a new AAA release I'm not buying from those companies anymore.

I WOULD, however, like to see this be a notice to the executives of all the gaming companies.  Don't rush your game, ensure your producers know that you want quality over deadlines.  Come up with a zero-blame system with visible, concrete milestones that are not there to determine performance of staff, but to determine the progress of the project and establish timeframes for completion so accurate deadlines/release dates can be issued.

The gaming industry is on notice, we're your customers.  Start treating us less like fans, and more like the people who are your revenue.  The gaming press is on notice, be fair, balanced, and by the Goddess, at least finish the game if you're going to review it.

Of course it is perfectly possible for them to redo the ending. If they can make a 2 hour DLC they can make an ending DLC...Heck it would be cheaper because they don't HAVE to create new areas, creatures ect. They can use existing assets that are already in game. Nor do they need another 2 hours of gameplay...the problem has always been the last 5-10 minutes. They could get away with a diolog-only ending with cut-scenes, depending on what they write.
As for voice talent...Seriously Bioware have a fairly large cast of dependable voice actors they have been relying on since KOTOR - I think the actor voicing Carth Onasi in KOTOR is the same actor who voices Kaden in the ME series. They can get these actors in to record additional lines at fairly short notice, and frankly if I was one of the actors involved I'd be more than happy to go into a studio for an hour or two to record extra material.
Basically while it would cost time and money, it wouldn't be as much time and money as, say, future SP DLC - which it should be added would be somewhat pointless to produce if no one is going to buy it anyway.

The reason I said it was near impossible is for the consequences.

headline:
"new trend, make a crappy ending and sell the ending as a separate dlc"

is that the trend I want to start. No I do not.

I mentioned this before. There are a few in the crowd yelling "give us closure to so many questions left unanswered, to the krogan eventual fate ... to even Shiala's commando militia"... however most of the crowd is simple yelling "take my money, just give me anything".

I suspect that if they were to sell the DLC it could and would be argued that they were admitting that the game as released was not complete. This would in essence be admitting to a criminal offense. I'd suspect a more viable option would be to make the DLC as a free download to registered ME3 owners, while those with second hand copies would have to buy it.

Basically what they did with the Cerbus pack in ME2.

Agreed.

Although...if we could set up an internet 'swear jar' linked to a charity, that everyone who wants to generally has to put a donation of at least a dollar into everytime they want to rage and flame...

Does the world have enough money for something like that?

Unless it's some huge conspiracy that they somehow planned this all along and all the companies that have been flinging mud at us have been in on it the whole time and are aware of a real ending(s) that Bioware planned and prepared...  But what are the odds of that?  :wizard:

Gah, stop that!  I  finally managed to flip my Bioware portrait face down on my desk ME2-style.  Must not hope...  too painful when finally proven wrong....

Indoctrination theory is such a tempting dream though.  Why *didn't* anyone help that kid onto the transport before it was blown up in the beginning?

Anyway... looking forward to the AngryJoe review.  He had really good commentary on ME3 so far.

Some of these questions are fun to answer as they allow me to speculate as much as everyone else.

We have firmly established that Bioware/EA has every conceivable PR lockdown measure going they can. Problem is, they have to keep responding to tweets or they will get called out for it.

Imagine that you are at a desk and all day long people are calling you about the sixteen setting toaster that burns your toast on all sixteen settings. How many times do you think it takes before that person gets so frustrated saying "thank you for your input" they blurt out "some people like 16 different types of burnt toast!"

The PR guys are walking on eggshells trying not to stir anything up (look at Sunday night). The twitter thing is probably just someone needing to blow off steam and chose the wrong way to do it.

About angry joe. Same theory that has been dissected & analysed to death here. Would only mean they removed the true ending from the supposed finale of the trilogy on purpose. Shepard is still on earth, earth that is swarming with reapers.
Sounds incomplete to me.

The problem with bunkers, as any military man would know, is that unless you have good weapons to keep outsiders away, a good way of hiding, or an escape route, they're pretty damn easily surrounded. And that's when it turns into a war of attrition. Protip: the people inside the bunker (or castle, as this is equivalent to a siege) aren't going to be able to outlast the people on the outside.

That's what scares me. I expected him to nail Duke Nukem: Forever to the wall, but in his actual review of it he pulled a ton of is punches. I mean, he had the pre-release review which was scorching and hilarious, but the ACTUAL review was just.. incredibly meh.
