The fact Bethesda changed the ending *kind of* for fallout 3 gives me hope, I have a hell of a lot more respect for Bioware than I ever will for Bethesda.
I remember the whole Fallout fiasco. I remember reading Todd Howard and crew we're surprised how many people wanted to continue playing after the main game and that was one of the reasons they added Broken Steel among others. Goes to show that additions can/ are a good thing.
All Bioware needs to do is add to the endings, not change them. If it takes them moths to put something out I'm sure people would wait, I would. Just look back at some of their other games for guidance an they'll be good to go. They say they are listening that's good but soon they will have to act. Prove to us that they still are good at what they do.
Just like old times as Garrus would say.

That's why Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh are exactly the same! Both tragic "bittersweet" heroes.

I would say because Fallout did it, theres a much better chance vs if they didnt. But keep this in mind Fallut 3 came out in October & the Broken Steel dlc wasnt released untill May .
You know I would be quite happy to wait for ending DLC if they would just tell us they are going to do it (or not) you know?
Agreed, I think it took something like a month before Fallouts first 3 dlc's were revealed. A Bioware response would be great but I think I heard that they said that they wont say anything about it for at least 2 more weeks.

Something that stuck out to me was how he has no doubt that the development team intentionally wrecked the series so that nobody else could develop future content. It seems sadly obvious to me now. : /
In case you don't want to search through it I'll just link that particle part of his article:
"As a literature major, it’s painful to see, it’s pitiful to know that the franchise that shot you (myself) into their respective career is nothing more than a brilliant journey with a franchise-destroying ending. What is even graver is what truly happened, what Bioware knew and what they did. It’s called “torch the franchise and run” and it’s the worst possible way to handle your story, your universe and your fanbase. The literal translation is…
“A writer has created a franchise, but he doesn't own the legal rights to what will happen to the franchise, the publisher/network/studio/whatever does. Or maybe he/she shares the rights with someone else and just doesn't have as much control as he/she likes. They want to stop writing it and move on to something else. But they don’t want anyone else being able to handle his property, even though they don’t legally own it and even if they did own the franchise, what happens when their kids get their hands on the franchise after their inevitable Author Existence Failure? The solution? Torch the Franchise and Run. Write one last story that totally wrecks everything. They kill off everyone they possibly can. They make the lives of all of the characters a living hell before executing them. They make 100% sure that everyone is dead, and those that aren't have no way of returning to the status quo or main premise of the show. Essentially the authorial version of breaking your own toys so that nobody else can play with them.”"

I don't agree. Once someone buy something, art or not, it becomes theirs as well and there should be an effort to please all your fans instead of just saying "Deal with it, it's art." It's very much about the corporate-customer relationship.
For example, I'm a manager for a string of bakery cafes in America. Baking is a craft. I definitely would understand a customer being upset if they were a loyal customer who paid for a certain product and then got something completely different from what they expected or even if they just felt it wasnt up to the usual hgh standards-- or worse, let's say they love the pastry and then as they get to the end, they find it was made with goat hair, which ruins the enjoyment of the whole thing. I'd do everything I could to make it up to them. That doesn't mean I'd change the original recipe of the pastry they didn't like, because there might be some who do like it, but I would definitely do everything in my power to offer them other options that might please them. I wouldn't just say "Well, we like it so you have to live with it." and I doubt people would call that customer entitled. I wouldn't want to lose them as a customer, so I'd find a way to make them happy. It's good business sense and more importantly, it's the right thing to do.
That's all we're really asking for. Other options that cater to everyone. They can keep the original three endings if they wish, but give those of us who expected and wanting something different other options. Otherwise, there's no reason for an unsatisified customer to keep buying their products in the future, especially knowing that things might end up the same.

See I would agree if this was a BOOK an author, any author can bounce back from a BOOK or a movie (just look at Mike Bay)
But this is a buisness. A GAME buisness. Torching their own story essentially means BUISNESS IS GOING DOWN. Making a videogame isn't ONE guy. Bioware isn't ONE GUY its an entire company an entire TEAM of writers and people and I don't think anyone would be so much of an **** to take the entire ending and just say ****IT to both the franchise and jeapordize the livelyhood of all the people he works with

It's the same thing for me working in a restaurant as a chef. It's all about consistency when you're talking about good business practices. If something you do isn't up to snuff you redo it to satisfy the customer. If there is a new dish and you get the same complaint from even a few customers then you reevaluate what you're doing and change the dish.

Some things just dont add up.
They claim to be independent, free of all weakness. Ehm spacechild controls you, i lack seeing independence, free of all weakness? Well the ending basically show both claims are silly.
When Shep asks who built them, he claims to have no beginning or end, spacekid made them. So there must be a beginning. Could be millions of years old, but definitely a beginning.
But yeah, just thought id mention.
Holding the line.

I agree with what you're saying, that it seems crazy essentially, but what is to stop them really? They stated before they released the game that they won't be continuing the Mass Effect series. Everything after the scene with TIM seems to hold no purpose except to entirely exclude the possibility of further work on the series for no reason. It's like they had the story worked up to then, but instead of doing the obvious (activating the Crucible) they just destroyed everything and said The End.

Well.... isn't November around the time it was supposed to be originally released? How did they not have a plan for how to end the game before NOVEMBER? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? Isn't the entirety of the beginning phase of game development doing art and story? Wouldn't they have the end fleshed out before signifigant development even started? I'm so confused by that.... it made me rage all over again when it just clicked a couple minutes ago.

I like the indoc theory, but i still feel this is just a way of Vega telling Shepard to go away, pretending you are the humm and he cant hear you nahnahnahnah, childish innocent teasing.

Apprently they didn't. From what I read they delayed Martin Sheen's voice acting until mid November instead of August because they didn't have the ending nailed down.
