Actually we don't know this much (the guy on YT also notes that no one has seen that original document, so it's heavy speculation all the way down).

I mean, we know what the original 'galactic problem' was, but 'reaperification or bust' is just one way out of that problem. Perhaps there was another solution.

I'd definitely prefer the 'dark energy' business over Casper's idiocy.

Good point, but considering how they handled this ending, the even grimmer theme of a dark matter threat to our local stars probably wouldn't have been handled any better.

Good morning everyone!

I suppose BioWare still hasn't made any kind of statement?

Probably has already been posted but this song is by far my favorite. Sad though that it inspires hope and is really cool when I know in the end it was for naught... Still holding the line however :)

Apparently we might not hear anything for another 2 weeks.

Until then keep holding the line :)

Thought people might be interested in seeing this updated version of the indoctrination theory video (not sure if it's been posted here yet): youtu.be/ythY_GkEBck

The evidence presented certainly seems strong. And if it were really true, then the Bioware writers are the most clever and most frustrating people in the world. Also, that would still mean the story hasn't been properly ended, but it's a fascinating theory all the same.

Eh, the original ending was EVEN WORSE than our current one.  Either let dark matter destroy all suns within 100 years, or brutally kill everyone via reapers reproduction to stop it.

We are not here to ask for a happy ending, even if everyone dies we should be able to stand it... as long as the story reaches an ending without sowing plotholes everywhere.  The original ending could have been better but we'll never know... It could have patched everything together in a way that would have made you accept that fate as sensible... who knows! =/

I for once was ready to see all my team die when I reached the ending, I thought it would be kind of natural to see it happen in such a situation, a bittersweet heroic ending! Everyone charging into the last fight and being taken down until only Shepard is left and... something happens that actually makes sense and the story ends.

Then I saw the real ending and I really wished they all died the way I pictured it <.<

Oh and btw... Good morning everyone! I won't even bother asking if there are any good news...

I think the Mass Effect twitter said something on the Pax twitter about having more info today about what will be happening in the PAX East panel? I don't have a link. I'm really derpy with twitter. A lot of people have generally been saying that we're gonna be waiting at least 2 weeks for PAX before we even get a hint at what might happen. Another person has speculated that the financial quarter ends March 31st so they won't say anything until they have their numbers, board meetings etc. And now over to Khalisah Al-Jilani! *cheesy smile*

Hey, the Sydney Morning Herald got us covered. That's a well-trusted news source here.

Reading the article though, it seems to contain some misinterpretations both of a statement of Casey Hudson's and of the fan criticism (reducing it to "the endings being too bleak").

To wit, if you play it wrong by constantly squndering war assets, yeah, you absolutely should get a bad ending.  But If you secure a high EMS, and recruit all organizations and races, even the b=Batarians, you should get an ending which is at least mostly happy.

Speak for yourself lol. I deserve a happy ending. My day to day is bleak enough as is.

One thing that's strange is that they seem to have their time-scales off. I mean, even with 'unprecedented cosmic threat' factored in, a century is a ridiculously short time in cosmic terms, for stars to inflate or whatever. I'm obviously no expert on this, but if it takes a century for the Sun to become a 'red giant', Earth probably would vaporize already in the very beginning of that 'expansion'.

Another instance of this is that they sometimes refer to species undergoing evolution that's discernible to the naked eye in the space of 50000 years. That's not even the blink of an eye, on the evolutionary time-scale. (e.g., Javik talks about Salarians licking their eyes like frogs, and so on; I'm sure I've heard several other examples.)

Yep... now you can choose, destroy the cake, control the cake, or fuse with the cake. No matter what you choose, you will never eat the cake.

...and, Casey Hudson had said pre-release, that ^this, is how it would work. (I think he said something along the lines of '...just like ME2's suicide mission, but now with whole races at stake')

I don't have the link though.
