Happy ending, sad ending...we should have them all, when you think about it...why? Because thats what we were promised. But beyond that, it needs to be an ending...not a mind screw with so many holes in it that they'd need another series of games just to explain *sigh*

Totaly agree

So do I

From an interview with Mark Meer (broShep):

Question: Recently "Mass Effect 3" has been in the news because of its controversial ending. Longtime fans of the franchise are asking "Bioware" to remake the ending and provide a satisfying resolution to the series. What's your take on the subject and would you be open in returning to the role?

"Bioware has said recently that they are considering all fan feedback, positive and negative. I don't actually know anything about their actual plans (and I couldn't say anything if I did), but I do know that there will be upcoming DLC. Changing or expanding the end of the game wouldn't be unprecedented. The gaming community saw it a few years ago with Fallout 3 from Bethesda and the Broken Steel DLC. I really enjoyed Fallout 3, and didn't really have a problem with its ending, but was thrilled to get the Broken Steel disc. Obviously, if Bioware wants to record more dialogue, I'd be there. I'm definitely scheduled to record more dialogue for DLC, but at this stage, I don't know what that will entail."

Not an endorsement of the cause, but not a condemnation either. :D

I see lots of "i liked the endings" threads these times. Should we make our own?

I can't even imagine what will happen to the BSN if we all decide to make a thread about why we didn't like the endings :'D

Guys you have to see it. After i saw that, i almost cry with happiness and sadness both :)

Awsome vid, it inspires hope and without hope we have nothing. A little quote I learned from the game and why I am still fighting to this day for a better end. This series doesn't deserve to go down like this, I love the game and it's characters too much to have it end this way.

I hear you brother. Lets keep fighting for better end, but remember keep it civil and hold the line.

Actually it would be "Sister" but you are forgiven XD

Hmm sorry then :) Next time i will write "soldier" - we all are fighting the good fight after all :)

Well if they're truly considering "all fan feedback" based on these forums at least players wanting a new alternate ending are in the vast majority so it'd be nice if they told us if we're getting one. And even if you liked the ending to ME3 would an alternate ending really bother you? Or they can simply stay silent and let the hate die down along with any future sales.

To be honest I do want to stick around and see what happens.
Even if a DLC expanding upon or entirely rewriting the ending(s) is
released for free or for a price, my feelings towards Bioware will not
be what they used to prior to ME 3 (aka I'm not just going to blindly
pre-order a collector's edition 6 months in advance like I used, more
like wait a bit after release and try to see what the general consensus is before deciding to buy it or not).

I
had excused DA II as a rushed job and assumed that the problems related to the games narrative were the result of EA pushing Bioware to
pump out another sequel to make quick money off the success of Origins.
I presumed ME 3 would be spared this because since 2004 when
development on Mass Effect began, it was always intended to be at the
very least a trilogy. DA: Origin's success was a surprise and to my
understanding Bioware really had no plans on this becoming one of their top
franchises.

I just have a hard time really believing that these
were truly the endings they had in mind eight years ago when they embarked upon
developing this franchise. I know it's been said to death and put more
eloquently by other people, but these endings were just very much out of
left field.

Yes, you can argue that transhumanism and
technological singularity was a theme in the series (Geth-Quarian
conflict, Shephard's resurrection, EDI, and Overlord) but hardly would I
call it one of the central themes and focal points of the Shepard arc. Had the story of
this series been more akin to a Phillip K Dick or Arthur C. Clarke
novel, the conclusion would've been more appropriate and felt less out
of place then what we got. Unless I was playing an entirely different
game, I always thought that Mass Effect's central themes were:
overcoming prejudice, that we are not slaves to fate, learning to not let the past always rule the
present. The value of community in spite of everyone's racial,
religious, national (or in this case planetary) differences and working together to solve common problems. Not, free
will is a lie, the cycle of death and rebirth are inescapable and "the
created will always rebel and seek to destroy the creators".

In
short, I haven't abandoned Bioware, but I now feel that the
skepticism I used to apply only to other developers, now must be applied
to them as well. I can't just say "Well it's a Bioware game! Of course
it's going to be solid"
anymore.

SSV Newark retiring for the night,

TIM: "Shepard, you're in my chair..."

My response: "**** you it my chair now ****~! I think I'll take it with me when I leave and go back to the Normandy... maybe even give it to... oh I don't know, lets say... Joker and EDI, as a present for their relationship!"

I really hate that arrogant man, but at least I get to talk him into pulling a Saren... xD
Now if only they let me say something like that if they give us a DLC ending.... You know, change up a few lines pre ending, make some more conversations longer, or have new Dialouge options in certain places, where there was none before. would be nice..

Could be worse. I've seen some that ended out having the quotes inside out and all sorts of wonderful oddities.

Just leave the "*quote*name" and "*/quote*" in front and behind what people post, it will figure out the rest (you can remove the text from between those two points.

At any rate, good to have you with us =)

Edit- If I put the brackets in (aka [&]) then it stuffs the post up, lol. So I replaced them with the *

Can anyone tell me where we stand after the twitter announcement?

I would bet the farm atghunter would say it is a way to see if they can demoralize us.

Hold the Line

Also possibly an attempt to pacify. The tweet (while using subtle doublespeak to leave it open) heavily implied it would be an announcement of a new ending. It is not. It's a delay tactic that doesn't promise anything, and causes many people to ease off the pressure. People who think they have won tend to rest on their laurels, and this is a trick to get us to do just that. And the few that aren't fooled are demoralized, thinking that 2 weeks is a long way off. The also are attempting to burn us out with waiting. They figure we are an EXTREMELY passionate movement, and passionate movents often have trouble transitioning to long term ones. But as I've said before, this is a TERRIBLE idea. Everyone who leaves the line is probably leaving bioware for good as well. It's a stupid mistake, as people WILL give up, and that permanent money down the drain (not saying the movement will end, just that a few people will throw their hands up in disgust, and wash them of this debocle). The trick is to realize this and renew our efforts. Keep the pressure up, I may not be anywhere near as good at PR as ATG, but I have seen this behavior from many companies during my work, it's designed so people are either pacified, or settle into the long haul. and also when people settle into the long haul they let up the intensity. This is actually an extremely good post for us, as it is basically EA/Bioware pleading please let up on this pressure on us, it hurts. We need to see through this, recognize it for what it is, and press the attack. They know were hurting them, and are trying to beg for mercy, while at the same time not giving us anything. Keep up the pressure, this post reeks of desperation!

Hold the line, because space magic..... seriously smilie

Copying this over from PR sub

Keep up the work folks

HOLD THE LINE

Back from a break and noticed this. This is very true I think, we need to ready outselves for the long haul. This won't be a short fight, I'm not going to lie but if we can keep it together we can and will keep going. We seem to be having an effect. Keep it up people HOLD THE LINE.

Extract:
But, what about the ending? Well, if I was to say it was a perfectly written and thought out ending, I'd be lying. There are several aspect of the ending that I feel are both incorrect and out of place, and after reading and watching many fan reactions, I can honestly say I agree with a lot of what's been talked about. That said, at the same time I simply don't feel as hard done by than most. While the plot holes are there, I actually thought the ultimate reveals of the Reaper threat and the eventual conclusion was handled well enough for the most part, and I especially like the element of the story that's left to your own imagination. This is certainly fitting with a game that prides itself on letting you shape the world and make your own decisions, so why not let you fill in some of the blanks with your own canon lore?Yes, it could be argued that this design isn't intentional, and that the overtly red or blue choice given to you at the end of the game goes against the freedom offered throughout the series, but this is always going to be subjective, and no matter want kind of ending BioWare had supplied, there would be someone, somewhere who'd hate it.

I guess he's in our camp but doesn't care enough to make his voice heard, and is watching an interesting phenomenon from the sidelines. Fair enough. But those last few lines are too politically correct for my taste.

Dropping in after a week of lurking, but still holding the line.

I'm relatively sure that changing the ME3 ending will not have ramifications that will result in the rewriting of every story.

The thing is, that the ME series is ultimately based on the player-choices and how those affect the story, even if some major events stay the same.
In many other games, that isn't possible. Wether it is RPG, FPS, RTS or whatever genre, many follow a fixed path in their storyline, with one story and one ending.
Games like Crysis let me pick which route I take through a level, but no matter how many different and fun variations of approach I try, I will see the same cutscenes.
If ME was a linear experience, like those other games (Still, just looking from a story perspective), I am sure it would not have been as successful, but also people wouldn't have complained much about the ending.

So I am pretty sure that writers for games that are not based on player-choice will not have any trouble.
