Sure, but not if it's too much trouble. It's far easier to pop out a new NBA Live every year with the new rosters. And those are guranteed to sell.

Sure they can let it die. You realize how many franchises they own? They have the Sims, the fecking Sims! Not to mention all the sports games. Really, they're not hurting for one bastard child of an action RPG.

You really don't understand corporations, do you?  They are money-making machines.  I'm not bashing corporations, I'm saying fact.  It doesn't matter if they don't need the Mass Effect franchise to make plenty of money, but with the Mass Effect franchise, they can make even more.  WalMart could afford to pay all of their employees $10 an hour and still be the most profitable super-market in the world.  But they'd make slightly less money.  Corporations don't think, "we don't need this because we already have enough money."  Corporations think, "what makes us money, and how can we use it to make even more money?"

Now, tell me EA still needs Mass Effect, or heck, Bioware. They'd cut the fat if they need to. And apparently they work their employees to death so hey, maybe the writters would welcome the break.

By the gods.  Are you paying attention?  Mass Effect makes EA money.  They would not let the Mass Effect franchise just die if they know it's a money maker.  I understand how profitable EA is, and how many games they have.  You're not frelling getting it.  Corporations don't need everything they have.  They don't need to do everything they do.  But if it makes them money, they will keep doing it.  They would not allow BioWare to kill the Mass Effect franchise, because that would be killing a source of income.  EA execs get money from sales.  If they kill off a money maker like Mass Effect, that means they make less money.  Do you think the Koch Brothers need over 50 billion dollars combined?  Guess what?  They're lobbying the government to lower their taxes to make even more money.  The combined wealth of the Walton familiy is the same as the bottom 30% of the America.  They are also lobbying to lower their taxes.

So no.  It doesn't matter if EA execs could still be millionaires without Mass Effect, they still wouldn't kill it.  They may want to use that money to make new games, as well as give themselves nice hefty bonsues.  Seriously.

Corporation.

can see plenty of copies of ME3 on pre-owned very quickly if this is true. Shame really. Now if they'd have made the ending like the Episide of B5 - Sleeping in light - where the main character dies (or does he? ) and then it shows life continuing for the rest of the main characters. Life goes on.

Unfortunately in ME3 it doesnt. Dont see the point to be honest. Very grim.

I agree with you, i'm having a hard time believing people. But is seems just real enough to be true. All i've wanted from this game from the start was at least a little bit of a happy ending. I don't care about the mass relays or anything. Just shepard finally getting the time to be with the people she cares about in the end without having to be worried about th end of all life. Just a moment where she goes, "finally" and her friends and her just sit down and breath. Just something, anything, where her life is not a tradgedy.

Yeah, poor Shepard really can't get a break.

Actually, these endings would be very Greek tragedy.  The story of the Tragic Hero.  Especially if you take the Colonist or Earthborn backgrounds.

You know where I get my fill of tradgedy and sad endings? My life. It sounds dramatic but it is true. I'm in recovery for an eating disorder and other things so I go to group therapy where is hear the MOST HORRIFIC AND HORRIBLE THINGS I HAVE EVER HEARD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE AND EVER WILL HEAR! NOTHING COULD EVER BE ANY WORSE THAN THE THINGS I HEAR IN THOSE ROOMS! THE DEPTHS OF HUMAN DEPRAVITY THAT HAVE BEEN UNLEASHED ONTO THE POOR WOMEN I LISTEN TO IS BEYOND ALL THOUGHT AND REASON.

So when i play mass effect i like to play the "Lahdee dahhh, i can fix anything and anyone despte my horrible background and struggles. Despite a horrible thing happening, i can still be rewarded with a full and happy life at the end if i work hard enough" But noooo we have to be realistic for ALL the endings, by screwing you over and not letting you be happy.

I still don't believe the endings, but i do believe them. I just have no accepted them to be true because we were promised through development we would get our "golden ending" and happy endings with our LIs. I do not think casey hudson would purposely mislead everyone.

Since I lost a lot of pages (sleep and all), did anyone answer what happens with 100% readiness for sure?
Can the Normandy not get sucked in space bathub sink?

Considering that is a forced plot device for the setting of ME4 or DA3 (Can't decide which one is more deliciously controversial), its safe to say it happens in every ending no matter the level of readiness.

So we still don't know for certain, right?

Are the "endings" being posted on youtube the bink videos again?

I want in-game cutscenes of 100% readiness / full war assets. Posted Image

Just mark my words..mark my words..

Oh, I've said it too. But still... we haven't seen every possible outcome.

Of course its simplified.  Do I need to write a frelling essay about the behavior of corporations?  No.  Simple sometimes gets the point across.

Corporations: Money good.  No money bad.
Mass Effect Franchise: Make money.  Corporations like.
A Dead Mass Effect Franchise: Make no money.  Bad!  Corporations hate!

Yes, it makes money. That's clear. What comes into play is whether the cost of the development, production, staff, marketing etc. is worth the end result. They can and will simply stop a series if they feel it is not up to their standard, or keeping with their companies interests. Just because "it makes money" doesn't mean they will continue to bully the creators into coming out with more titles. That almost never results in a polished finished product. Particularly when you drive down morale and run creativity dry. Corporations like money, they like to make it but there are many other variables to consider in making money. You're oversimplifying it.

Given the rumors about a possible Baldur's Gate remake, I all of a sudden became much more open to this series ending for good. When I look at the endings as the finale to the whole series, I can deal with them.

However money makes the world go round. If ME3 sells well, we'll see a four.

Of course they're marketing like hell, they want to sell it.  Of course, even if they considered it a dead franchise they'd still market it like hell, they've invested far too much money in it. Luckily they have two previous titles to piggyback on that pre-orders sell themselves. Really, I don't know what you're trying to convince me here other than that EA wants the product they've backed to succeed. Does it mean it will? Of course not, but they hope it does so they can at least see a return on their investment.
