They won't concede our position because they have never made any attempt to understand it. They think we want the ending clarified. We don't; we want it changed. They think we want a nice happy epilogue. Not necessarily. Bioware thinks we are all idiots and they will continue to act on that assumption. Mark my words, they will never admit that a majority of fans hate the ending or that they screwed up or that they were rushed. Any ending DLC will be an uncomftorable compromise between their writers and the fans which will make nobody happy.

Nail on the head.

Then let's inform Bioware about it.

I'm going to write another e-mail on contact@bioware.com

If we keep the pressure "current" endings - as Dr. Muzyka said - may become only original ones after new, true endings are added.

I just want to put in my 2 cents about this. I have been part of the Retake ME movement since the moment I finished the game.

First, I want to emphasize my belief that we are not "at war" with BioWare. Rather, BioWare has done such an AMAZING job with the Mass Effect series, that we care so much about the characters and choices we made is a testament to their success. My only hope is that we get a NEW ENDING that reflects how great the entire Mass Effect series was.

The optimist in me is hopeful after reading Dr. Ray's response to the fans. BioWare is taking our thoughts into consideration and they are working on DLC for the ending.

My fear is that, rather than change the ending, they will simply try to over-explain aspects like Joker's retreat and the Star Child's logic instead of fixing those very aspects that our movement believes are the core problem. To use an academic analogy: fluffing a bad thesis with lots of generalized quotes doesn't make it a good thesis.

My intention, as is the intention of the Retake movement (I hope I am not stepping on any toes here) is not to provide "destructive" criticism -- our tenets to stay civil and donate to the Children's charity is evidence enough of that. Nor do I / we wish to blast BioWare for Mass Effect 3 -- on the whole it was more amazing than I could have imagined. We only hope that a solution can be reached where a future patch/DLC could help fix/change the ending to reflect the greatness of the entire Mass Effect series, while providing closure on Shepard's fate, love interest, crew, etc.

Thanks :P

Their current statements are delaying tactics until they can cool off this hot potato a little bit. When they feel the time is right, they will come out with a very smug, self serving statement about preserving artistic integrity, how their intention all along was to spur deabate and discussion and how they intend to move on to other projects (i.e. Dragonage 3, Command and Conquer, and SWOTOR content). Then they'll say: "By the way here's some new multiplayer maps (the cheapest DLC to produce) and some alternate costumes (isn't Tali's new costume sooo cute?)".
Delay, Deflect, Move on to something else- all too predictable strategy.

We'll hear more on this in April. Unfortunately, my 30 day returns window for Amazon expires right around the time of PAX.

I'm not going to take the risk that they tell us "tough ******", and end up with that thing on my shelf, glaring at me mockingly for years to come. I've emailed Amazon about it. Will let you know what they say.

the sh*t has hit the fan and with the tax year coming up EA and BIOWARE are seeing there stock and income nosedive, this must have affected them that bad that they need to boost moral to there stock holders that there doing everything they can.

by ignoring us for so long and not speaking to us for so long it has bit them squarly in the nads like a malfunctioning robot pitbull and now there paying the price.

Just finished the game. And all i can say is 'Huh?'

I mean...Why? It went so well untill the last moments, slowly dying besides Anderson waiting for the crucible to fire. The hearing Hackett's call and slowly crawling to the controls...And then it all just goes so very, very wrong. There was absolutely no point in the final bit.And the scenes that came after? Many have said it better than i, so i will just say that they make no sense what so ever, other than the 'deep breath' scene.I figured that Shepard was still in London the moment you 'wake up' after getting hit. seeing as you are miles away from where you fell.Even the blastwave should have thrown you the other way if anywhere.
All in all...What a damn mess.

Trust.

We trusted them when they said our choices would effect the ending.

We trusted them when they said we would get 16 different endings.

They flat out lied to us.

It's like they say, trust is harder to regain than it is to lose.

I know one thing, they have lost my trust and it will take a lot to get it back...

Now is the time for action with your wallets people! If paid DLC that takes place before the endings come out, then DO NOT BUY IT!!! When Bioware/EA see that we will accept nothing less than ending DLC they will have to respond by giving us what we want. Keep holding the line!

Very true. Who would want to take back Omega if it doesn't even matter once you meet spacekid

In light of hearing John Riccitiello (Ceo, EA) say that getting that getting the consumers invested so much in a game that they can gouge them for coin with microtransactions, and seeing Dr. Ray's comments, I do feel rather dubious.

"When you are six hours into playing Battlefield and you run out of ammo in your clip and we ask you for a dollar to reload, you're really not very price-sensitive at this point in time...A consumer gets engaged in a property, they might spend 10, 20, 30, 50 hours on the game and then when they're deep into the game they're well-invested in it. We're not gouging, but we're charging and at that point in time the commitment can be pretty high"  - John Riccitiello

Sounds like he is trying to make us all sound like the vast minority who are being rude. Very aggravating. Especially since a lot of the defenders of the ending have been calling us every name in the book. We have been constantly vigilant to make sure this thread remains professional.

We need to hold the line.

Indeed. See my comment about "returns windows" a little further up. They are waiting us out. A game that hasn't been returned is money in their pocket.

The really disheartening part is how easily I can see this happening.  We said we wanted the endings to make sense, didn't we?  We said we wanted more explanation, didn't we?  It would be so easy for them to do something like insert some of that additional dialogue we know was discussed for inclusion in the starchild scene, and present it to us as if it fixes everything.

That's why I really feel we need to clarify our position.  Trying to make a bad ending better by stuffing more justification into it until we can no longer wiggle out of it is not good enough.  It's bandaids on a bullet hole.

I agree. How do we make that clear, though? I mean, we've been saying we want new endings this whole time. That's what I said in my letter to them. That's what I said in the official suggestions thread. That's what I've been saying on Twitter...

Any ideas?

Honestly not sure, at this point.  If this is what we want, maybe this needs to be our focus in places like the Facebook group.  We've had success with things like the letter-writing campaign and the donation drive.  Maybe trying to drive in the statement that we will not be satisfied with merely having plot holes expositioned away, that we want more options, is what we need to do next.  Maybe message the admin of the Facebook page, start organizing another twitter campaign - whatever we can do.

They said April. I'll give them til April 2nd. I can't go past that or it'll be past the 30 day return time for Amazon.

If I haven't received a satisfactory response of the level: "We will be redoing/completing/finishing/fixing the ending", I'll be returning my copy of Mass Effect 3. If they decide, after that, that they want to come out with a definitive answer I'll repurchase it along with the online pass code (which should be right about the same price with the current plummet in price).

PAX East is too far off, and I, frankly, don't trust that they'll actually do something about this once they have our money. It's disappointing.. I'm losing faith in my favourite gaming company :(

Has anybody noticed that ME3 prices started to drop?

Seriously, if this is the best Bioware can do after the DA2 and (partially) SWOTOR debacle, then ME3 is going to be the last game I will ever buy from Bioware. Loyal fanbase is what made the ME franchise great, ignoring fan's feedback will hurt DLC/upcoming game sales.

Hold the line!
