With this said, I think I'll stop holding the line. Bioware has made it pretty clear, they'll not change the ending, but rather try to give us DLC that will make the ending we got more plausible. So maybe they'll send us on some random mission where Shep discovers some artifact that will tell you more about the Godchild and the motivation of the reapers. I'm SURE this will make everyone really understand just WHY the reapers kill all organics in order to prevent them from being killed by some other synthetics...

"We’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received."

There is no artistic integrity with this ending... This was the last Bioware/EA game I'll ever buy!

I'm out!

Don't give up! It looked bleak now, but we need to hold. If not for Shepard, then do it for spite! Be really angry with Bioware. This was a rushed ending. We expected and paid for better!

Listen to mr. Connery   folks... we have nothing yet but a statement that is empty and hollow until backed up by action...

So  continue to hold the line...  April is around the corner... and well  see that what happens.

Even when they flat out refuse to do anything about the ending, we MUST hold firm.

Hold the line! We can do this!

if they flat out refuse to do anything... I'm laugh and take my money else there are plenty of compainies that make good games with great stories... Atlus ,Square Enix seems to be coming around, the folks that made the Witcher 2.  Darksiders 2 is  looking good and there Assasins Creed 3 this fall... like really Bioware needs to get off the high horse.  Lets see how  the "Artistic Ingerity" treats them when DA 3 comes around and none buys the game... or the game  after.

Hold the line people!

The fact that one of the Co-Founders of BioWare is the one issuing a statement is a huge sign we are getting somewhere. Don't lose faith, we can do this!

Seems more like we lost to me. :(

We didn't lose. We caused a reaction. This is a first step. We have to hold the line.

But it's the wrong reaction... they're just going to make some crappy explanation to the awful endings we have and then leave it be. Otherwise they wouldn't release a statement like this, right? I just don't see how we could possibly get what we want now... :?

A statement saying "We're listening, we'll have a decision announcement in April?" This is just a bigger version of Casey's tweet.

This response seems like something they put out if.

1. They've decided not to change the endings.
2. They've decided to change the endings.
3. They need to put out some sort of statement, to prevent the community from trying to burn absoultely everything down, and are still in meetings to determine what to do, and have just given themselves a deadline of when to reach a decision.

I see... Damn I thought that they would at least run it by the company before putting out an article like that. When someone says: "New Endings Coming Up" I assume there's more than "loose" interpretation of an open-ended statement.

<_< Why run a story without a true source and a fact check? Isn't that journalism 101?

Yep it is...

problem is that no one that works at IGN took journalism 101.

I just read on a German site, that Paul Barnett just said, that ending is a thing of the devs, and not of the players. So as I understand it, he says, in other words, that they make what they want without listening to the feedback, since he think its art to make games.

Here the link to the site (interesting to all who can speak German or want to translate it):

http://www.spieletipps.de/n_26863/

I think this is not a good sign for all hopes for a better ending :/

Edit:

Here another link with some infos about it in English.

Somebody remind me why we're still fighting. I want to believe there's still a chance for this to work out well, but I just don't see how if they're going to release content to bring clarity to the ending. Not like they're ever going to do -two- alterations to the ending... :-/

Not sure if I can hold the line anymore...

Funny how fast it appeared on the IGN......oh who am i kidding..Of course Bioware went to them with it.

Are you implying that making IGN's most publicly known employee a charcter in a game that IGN is supposed to review and discuss with some modicum of neutrality might be a conflict of interest?:D

Lol
Take it with a pinch of salt people, hold the line until it gets here!

Might I suggest we maybe discuss what they will actually do? New ending or try to "fix" the current one?

I'll repost here what I wrote in another thread - Hold up people - I follow politics very closely and I do know from politics when one of the very top officials makes a statement in the form of a strong hint that the pressure has reached the very top of the food chain - then we can all rest assured the ending saga has also reached the top of the BW food chain as well. There is very active discussions going on behind the scenes about the ending problem - and as in politics the top usually acknowledges their problem in the form of hints. Mild blaming is the usual course of action as BW themselves did in this statement.

What is extremely important - is to acknowledge they have a problem which the BW statement clearly acknowledged - now BW is in active talks how to resolve the problem given their written end, and then how to move beyond that point and continue the Sheppard saga with another game to bring full closure to this series. If you read what they're planning from their hints this is where BW is now concentrating their thinking. It's very clearly demonstrated for the rest of his statements they see a full game yet to be delivered.

EA is, and always has been quick to try to placate customers, i sent a letter to ole johnny r (ceo) depicting my lengthy history with buying their products and how this has totally led me in the other direction...

Exactly, that statement is nothng but pr spin - if anything we should see it as some sort of step in the correct direction after all this is an offical statement acknowledging that some fans are not happy with the endng - thats more than we had yesterday and its could be one of the first steps in them actually doing something about it!

Hold the line

I agree. Has our message been lost in the cacophony of discontent?
Maybe it's time to try and hit the point home that it's not just about "happy endings" or "clarification".  It's not just about epilogues and glued-together explanations. It's also about being fooled into a feeling of freedom and having the shackles being clasped around our necks when we were unaware... I found myself asking why they even bothered listing my choices in my ME2 import if none of them mattered.
The illusion of choice was presented to us, when in fact we had none.  It may not be everyone's main issue, but it certainly is mine.

People just relax for a minut or two. Take a deep breath. Just do not overreact. I is hard I have a hard time too not to give in but HOLD THE LINE and stay calm.

Don't give up because of one statement. Does not Retake ME3 states correctly that wie want a new ending and not an explanation.

If they do just that, we'll let our wallets talk. Maybe that would be easier to understand for them, if that ever happens.

Meanwhile let's keep holding the line, as nothing is decided yet, good or bad.

Granted it's not offcial but they pretty much spell it out. I can't see any other interpretation of the Bio-Ware statement. Image IPB

What is spelled out in that annoucement? He didn't say anything other than "we are taking your feedback, please wait". There is no confirmation of anything at all. He said that Bioware will be looking into the future of the franchise in the next year, but it doesn't mean they will change the ending. Perhaps is a new game, perhaps are new pre-ending DLC.

I agree and support the OP. This is most likely a PR stunt, a diversionary measure taken to divide us, to quiet us so we can go meekly back to our lives and forget about this.

NOTHING SHORT OF A CLEAR AND ACCURATE PUBLIC ANNOUCEMENTE WILL DO...

Remember my friends and comrades how much they told us about the game before launch. Remember how the choices would matter, how we would have 16 different endings, and so much more. And those were all lies, since they never meant to implement that in ME3.

Considering how they have lied to us in the past, can you actually believe in anything they say without hard evidence?

/Salute

AND HOLD THE DAMN LINE.....

Aedera wrote...

Dead lord... It has been on no less then 5 other gaming sites, a couple of which are pro retake so please relax. You guys are really starting to react in a negative light. Many of you are essentially trolling ray's statement. Stop it.

Did it spell out everything for you? No. Is it PR. Yes but dear god EVERYTHING is PR at this point.

But that is the point. PR just won't do it anymore. We have been trolled by them, called fools and children by them (and other less than civil names from some sites) and they still do not acknowledge us.

This announcement didn't admit to have anything wrong with the game. I only accepted that some fans needed further explanation, in other words, we are too stupid to understand what they meant. This is only a diversion measure as I said before. Bioware is just trying to appease us so we can stop complaining, and in the mean time gather support from sites and other sources by saying "we are trying, but the fans are not helping"..

We are not fans, we are not friends, and we are no supporters of Bioware. We are customers and as customers we were fooled by their pre launch advertising. If we can't complaing about their mismanagement (don't want to call it what it really is) what are we supposed to do? To shut up and keep buying whatever piece of "art" the throw at us because buying their product is all we are "entitled" to do?

Back to the line people...

I'm not complaining but why has Forbes been so active on this? I thought they were just a financial magazine which told you about mutual funds and the price of oil. This writer certainly knows about videogames so good.

I think this nails the crux of it. They led us to believe it would be all tied up in ME3, but that was never their intent at all. They want us to buy ME4, or some DLC to finish the game. That was their intent, I believe.

Would it have been so hard to have this ME story finish? If they had done that, and then brought out an ME4 in a year or two's time, even with different characters, I would have been so onboard with that.

Now.....I only taste ashes.

Muzyka tried to marginalise the movement by telling it's only hardcore fans who dislike the ending. We have to keep the pressure so the word can spread forcing them to actually do something.

I'm really starting to lower my aim... at the beginning, when I was incredibly mad and this thread brought me joy and hope, I was really hoping for something that would remove the whole star child scene/part of the story...

At this point the only thing I see coming our way is a pitifully empty and disappointing DLC with a few cutscenes, some action to make us happy and something to back up the Star child idiocy. Better than nothing but still I don't think I'll ever get over this bleak ending...

I'll fight until the end! I'll keep it civil and I'll hold the line!
But I think Bioware won't see me as a customer for ages to come...
