How is it that a series like Gears of War, a TPS, can offer a better ending in the face of absolute destruction but Bioware can't pull it off with ME3 if the leaks are true?

The endings are real because the pc version of the game is already on the net . People have data mined its video files and found all the endings . The SR 2 disaster is un avoidable

Ironic from a company that used to pride itself on choices and listening to its fans.

Has anyone heard of "Door in the face technique"

Its Where someone (BioTroll) approaches you with an extreme view with something lesser in mind.
Like:                   mommy can I get that new $399 xbox
Mom says:        NO, hell no.
Then kid goes: Aww ok then can i get a candy bar.
Mom says:        That's more reasonable.

Outlandish request followed by a NO followed by this obvious lesser thing but was the original goal.
Bioware:                 Will you accept this horrid ending.
Fans:                       NO
Bioware:                 Oh ok,  if its a decent ending will you please buy the 'Ashes' DLC you complained about earlier
Fans:                       Ok thats reasonable.

Perhaps I putting too much faith in this.  Oh well.  But if this is nothing but a BioTroll'a'thon, we're all going to feel stupid for having looked like a bunch of melodramatic clowns.
As for calling me a Denier:  The only things you got are some circumstantial "leaks" and hearsay.
Yes I am air quoting you.:o

This I've been wodnering that too and also I'm wondering what happens to the LI's that aren't on the normandy in mass effect 3 like Miranda, Thane, Jack etc.
are they on earth after the destruction of the mass relays? Or
are they doomed too, being locked up on another planet they were on at that moment.

Just a quick question from someone desperately trying to understand these decisions..

Why did BW include new romance optione in ME3?

I mean.. in pure story alone this seems to be the most.. pressing game, you know every minute you're not working to save earth a thousand innocents die..

I mean I can't imagine the storyline stretching out over months of in game time (Maybe that's just me though).
And at the end you die/are transformed into something inhuman/are abonded alone in a deep pit of loneliness..

So it just seems like new LI are like a giant tease and invitable heartbreak right?

To a lesser extent same thing with any new squadmate/character...
I mean.. in-game Shepard shouldn't have the time or inclination to go looking for new friends/lovers..
And out of game you know in the end you'll end up alone..
so like... Where's the incentive for emotional investment?

Stanley said that in one of the locks. That even though they listen to us, they don't have to cater to us.

They'll be on the Normandy -- no matter what you do.

First, the joke:

Funny, that's what your mom said too... Ha ha funny!

Second:

If you honestly believe that, cancel your pre-order and go get some counseling ASAP. No video game is that important in the grand scheme of things.

Hopefully you're just joking and my hangover is clouding my vision of the obvious... Should NOT have had those last two beers. :/

This is about the only reason I am not cancelling my game.  There is that 1% chance that they managed to hold something back and there are a couple of extra endings.

I am not sure all I know is that if you are not banging anyone from ME 1 the game gives you a F U at the end in Shepard's last visions

I love Stanley, but I don't always agree with him.  Having one good ending out of a multiple number isn't catering to fans, it's giving people more choices for more replay.

Believe me, I get where you're coming from. But with the amount of destruction we're about to see, simply put any tempt to instill some 'reprieve' would feel tacked on..

With all do respect, but not to let it become "tacked on" is also part of scriptwriters's job. So yes, they can go an easy road (just like, in my opninion, they did) and mount one unavoidable catastrophy of different scale after another (huge scale - death of millions, small scale - Shep's separation from Normandy) .  But when it comes to "amount of destruction"  and "reprievee" an amasing Babylon 5 series comes mind. There was a huge bloody war (well, much more complicated, actually) of ancient powerfull race versus young races (humanity among them). Eventually, that was was won (again, not exactly correct statement), and the price of this "victory" was enormous. And yet there were time and place for some of main characters's personal happines, after all horrors they witnessed and survived.  And , somewhow, it was not cheesy at all.

Can I have a copy of the Mass Effect games you played?

ME1 - Life sucks but Saren dies and you save the galaxy.
Nobody cares that you saved the galaxy.
ME1 - ME2 - Life sucks and then you Die. Only your enemies cared enough to bring you back.
ME2 - Life sucks But the collectors die and you save the galaxy.
Nobody cares that you saved the galaxy.
ME2 - ME3 Life sucks as you get arrested for saving the galaxy.
ME3 - Life sucks, earth gets torn up and you die.. (To be continued)

Do you know who cares that you saved the galaxy? Conrad Verner and you stuck a gun in his face no matter what.

I quite enjoyed the sadistic plot in the ones I played. Bad relationships are the most fun, but really you must know that you didn't really get that black eye from bumping into a door.

Let me put it like this.. I was a bar and having a good time.. I started talking to a random girl and she acted all stuck up like I was hitting on her.. I got a puzzled look on my face and I said "You do realize you are ugly right?" She couldn't stop looking at me all night.. Her best friend spent the rest of the night talking to me and..(censored) Life is like that.

I remember this one girl said to me... "you remember all those relationships that didn't work out? It was you, not them." lmao... Yep I dated her and if I told you the rest of that story you'd wet yourself laughing. Life is like that.. people chase waterfalls and get dumped on.

If Mass Effect really was kittens and rainbows you would want to see other games, because.. well... it was nice, but something was missing.. I know you were expecting a ring, and the late night phone calls to stop, but it is what it is and you enjoy it. If you got the ring and the phone calls stopped You'd be ready to move on. But this can't be the end!!!

People are like that... It's called settling for a reason. Settling is the person that gives you what you want and it's boring.
ME3 is going to be a fun ride, slap you in the face with (censored) and then it's going out without you.
You will answer when it calls. only 800 points for make up and another trilogy to fix things?

People still watch old yeller and it's sad. I think you know how ME3 ends and yet you will still cry.. and then play it again.:crying:

If I had a hangover every night this week, you'd have a leg to stand on. Considering this is my first hangover in 2 weeks,
WRONG, sir! ;)

We'd all be lucky if this were even in the top 10 biggest disappointments in our lifetimes. Just cancel the pre-order like I did if it bothers you that much.

Don't get me wrong, if true this blows and I don't mind everyone venting here (I've done so myself), but don't go kill yourself over it or anything.

I think they just wanted to shock their fans and they indeed got it. It looks like they wanted to end mass effect and they did it. There are some unfinished things about shepard and the Normandy crew but bioware will probably wrap it with a DLC.

alcoholics lie , how can we believe its the first time in two weeks? Someone told me one time about some obscure bible verse that stated remove the log out of your own eye before you try and remove the splinters from anothers. I am not a believer , but there is wisdom in that.
