Hi guys, after few days of being away, I'm back. Has something new happened?

Just a PR statement that "something" will come out in April.  Not sure what though.

OK, thanks. Seems my ign feed missed that one :(

sure, bioware saw the sheer volume of ppl demanding a new ending and saw dollar signs. I for one can't blame em. I'd offer like 10 new endings at 20 bux a pop ;p

IGN put up a vid aimed to burn us and make us out to be the worst people in history. Apparently we're the gaming industries version of Hitler.

It is very interesting to know that, if we keep the arguments on the civilized ground, we might just be defining now the way game developers will interact with their customers in the future, and what to expect from them.

IGN is not leading, it's merely following.

Only 42? I've got like... 50 something... not quite sure...

Yeah I think I'll pass on reading all that....

Eh, reading that much is nothing~! I'm used to reading 100 pages per day at least.... and that's just on forums~! When it comes to things like books, I'm even more avid, sometimes whole books, roughly 400+ pages :innocent::whistle:

Art is and will always be subjective. Developers can argue that video games are art and if they present a game which is fait accompli that's one thing. I can't go playing games like Dues Ex:Human Revolution or even the more recent Kingdoms of Amalur and complain about the ending, because I was never asked to be involved in the game beyond enjoying the story. The developers didn't ask for fan feedback or insist that it is down to player choice and that that matters. I don't think this is an earth shattering defining moment for the industry because this relationship with the fans is something the Bioware actively cultivated and asked for. They wanted us to care and be involved, which is why they're taking what we're saying seriously. I'm not going to complain to Square Enix that I didn't like the end of their latest Final Fantasy because I was never in a position to make choices that were supposed to change the outcome.

Nightshift, texas, checking in!

Something to help us hold the line - Miracle of Sound, the guys who did the Commander Shepard song back during ME2, have made a song for RetakeME3!

- I feel really inspired after it tbh.

And a new forbes article - http://www.forbes.co...egative-review/

I think things will be fine. Those feeling bummed or frustrated, please take a bit of time off. Nothings going to be made pointless official for a few weeks. Get a break from all this and come back whenever you genuinely want to. No point burning yourselves out. Honestly I think alot of people are starting to lash out at us so bad lately because its become more and more clear that we're being effective and its turning them desperate. They want to call us entitled? Damn right we are. We're entitled to expressing our opinion and offering feedback on a product as consumers. The LAST thing BW wants is for half their base to quietly lose interest and develop a meh attitude towards their products. That's the kind of stuff that turns powerhouse companies into has beens.

Good morning fellow line holders!

There is a new poll at German magazine GameStar, and I  think it might be nice if they got a similair impact as with their last poll.

Just visit www.gamestar.de and scroll down until you see the radio boxes on the right. I'll translate and let you decide what to choose:

"Poll
BioWare gives in and alters the ending of Mass Effect 3. Is this the right decision?

1. Great, now I get what I want!
2. Yes, because BioWare depends on its fans.
3. No, I liked the original ending.
4. No, artistic vision must not be compromised from the outside."

Have a nice day everyone!

Just voted in, got to love how majority is "Yes, because BioWare depends on its fans",

Not "I get what I want", which would be the "entitled option" if you allow me to say so.

Aren't all news about following? Everything else (like the articles that try to analyse what is happening), isn't really news.

It's interesting to know that we are really making history here. And those who still think that we are just entitled, do not understand the endings, or are bunch of whiners who send threatening e-mails to producers or troll here on the forum, are missing the point. And the wagon.

I agree with much of that. But it is not only about the relationship, it is about false advertisement. We call those things for "hype", and go along with it knowing that the hype is usually not true when it comes to the product. But why? Everything else is not allowed to have false advertisement, why are games allowed to have that?

But for Mass Effect 3, you cannot go around saying to players that "it is your story", and then in the end claim "no NO No it is MY story". Hello??

Fully agree with the OP.

It seems like something strange happened in the ME3 office. After years of choice and excellence including most of ME3 the ending then just goes againt everything they have said and done previously. One has to ask Why?

Im not really understanding this whole hate campaign against fans, considering they are the same people they are hoping will buy their products in the future. If anything it would make sense to defend the fans right to express themselves, wether bioware agrees or not. Everytime they do that, they come off as extremely passive agressive towards the fans, saying we respect you and then saying f*** you right afterwards.

I must admit im pretty tied of this whole debacle and it seems obvious that calm discussion is just put in the same category as whiner/nerdrage/entitled, so what is the point.? I can except bioware standing their ground if they believe thats the right thing. What i wont accept being taken for a entitled child throwing a tantrum, for expressing an opinion they themselves asked for, in order for them to win the opinion war.

I dont know why i havent just returned the game and moved on to other companies like CDproject.

I tried to play ME3 multiplayer last night. It was like I had swallowed a living snake. It just felt wrong and for both of the matches which we won it just lacked something which it had before I made it to god child...thing. Urgency. The passion to do it, it was all just gone from my part.

I exactly know how you feel. I had the same thing. I play with 2 guys I meet in a match no regulary but the plessure is gone. Indeed my heart is broken and the multiplayer is like looking at the ex's picture. Image IPB

@Costello_Anasazi

It is simple, EA happend. They wanted ME3 to be released befor the fiscalyear was over.

Well, by now, after Ray Muzykas statement, unfortunately I was convinced that whatever happens, whether the "hold the line" movement succeeds or not, the most we could hope for is a DLC that might somehow slap together something that has to do with the endings but without getting every major voice actor on board again, creating a whole set of new scripts and dialogue and possibly one or two new maps, I don't see how they can make something that is truly worthy of this trilogy.
Nonetheless, I have just watched a video that shows how, even with the ending very much like it is right now, they could have made a beautiful epilogue. Before you watch, mind you I see this as something that would have been intended for Talimancers (not sure if that was the intend), it would have to be altered according to whoever you LI was. Enjoy.
You see? even fans who have nothing but voice files and vid pieces from ME1/2/3 can come up with something that IMO outmatches the original endings by orders of magnitude.

Not sure if i should laugh or cry about this whole situation but please BW, whatever you do, try to make an effort!

As for the art aspect, the way I see it there is art involved but high budget video games are products first. Easy way to prove that. Do you think there would be a Mass Effect 2 and 3 if the first had bombed in sales? Yeah probably not. Games literally NEED us to buy them, or they would not exist.

Was Colin Moriarty the same when the Fallout 3 ending was altered? I mean, I just watched the precedence video again and now I want to punch him in the face again.

Indeed. We are leading this movement.

Sometimes i feel really proudy of everyone who is here holding the line without give in to hate and flame wars like some IGNorant site is doing.
Let's keep showing them we aren't a buch of spoiled brats.
