A 200GB 5 hour game would be quite a corner, due to plot branching.  This is a clean slate with a wonderful galaxy to return to.

Well, since the mass relays are destroyed, it's like having a hacking game and in the end destroying the internet. You might go into smaller hacking stuff, but it won't be the same.

Only some of the mass relays were on.. no sol relay anymore for example... but what about the systems that were never visited? We visited relays that were activated.. Why do you think the relays were so important to leave around? It's the facebook of who to kill.. Our galaxy has 200–400 billion star systems.. think they are going to check every system? How many relays were on? All we have to do is start looking. How many times did you go from one system with a relay to another system without one?

The end videos show the magic green/blue/red energy ping ponging across the entire galaxy from relay to relay wiping them all out.  It doesn't seem like them being "on" per se matters much.

nope not with the blue version, there is an additional video.

Got a link for that?  I don't doubt you BTW, I just could have sworn I watched it last night but I'm at work and don't have my browser history.  Even the blue energy is shown hopping from relay to relay as far as I remember.

My biggest issue is with the aftermath of the Normandy crew. Tali and Garrus will starve to death and even if the rest of the crew manages to colonize the planet, it will be done by inbreeding.

That is just a cruel, twisted and sick ending for the crew who saved the galaxy.

Yeah, somehow I don't think Bioware hired really intelligent writers. Not a personal attack, but these sort of things are obvious from the get-go.

Or they are just into some sick stuff.

Either/or.

As of right now, this is no real explaination why this happens. Just bad writing, I expect.

Uh, they're big explosions just not... that big?  Honestly, I don't know.  Plot magic it seems.

Apparently the $7 we spent was a waste since it doesn't mean anything nor does Shep have the trial he/she was suppose to.

well I don't know if there is a video on youtube or so, but you can see them in (End03_LondonBlueBad.bik) (End03_LondonBlueGood.bik), these are exactly the same (the citadel closes its arms) and then comes the outro with explosion, so it's high like the outro will only be played with the bad version.

"Deus ex Machina is good for a game.. No really.. I'd hardly call any in game writing or anything coming out of Hollywood classic literature. Bioware have very good writing for a game, but you shouldn't put them next to Shakespeare... Just being honest.. the medium is great, and the writing is well done for a game.. Note worthy for games.. But the business wants volume more then quality.

I'm going to wait till I play the game not spoil it by watching the videos. I was hoping for a pyrrhic victory at best and prefer a mess to clean up. That adversity will add to the game..

Realistic and mature doesn't necessarily mean death. It's just an easy way to pull the wool over gullible people's eyes and create a "mature" ending.

The most impressive mature ending is where they can pull off a happily ever after, without making it contrived or cheesy. "Mature" endings like this are reserved for depressed idiots writing their own "novels."

All it would have taken is for the Normandy to crash on Earth. At least that would make some sense, and the "Shepard lives" ending could be viewed as a reunion waiting to happen instead of a fate worse than death.

In one of the videos after the relay explodes we see the galaxy map and the chain reaction of explosions.  Perhaps it's just artistic license but on the galaxy map the explosions are enormous just like Arrival clearly obliterating entire systems.  Not sure how this all fits together at this point.

Advanced Technology seems like magic to lesser beings. Reapers built Mass Relays, there is no reason to think they can't have technology that will affect every single one of them. I'm not sure which part you have a problem with, so I won't go into specifics.

Not that I'm defending the whole Crucible/Guardian/Catalyst thing -- I still think it's deus ex machina, absolutely awful storytelling, and derisive of the meaning and impact of the first two and two-thirds of the trilogy -- but your point was answered in ME1, by Vigil.

The Citadel was the control and information center for the mass relay network. It tracked in real time which relays were active and consolidated that information, which the Reapers would access when the cycle would begin anew. When the Reapers began the galactic extinction, the very first thing they would do after securing the Citadel was lock down the relay network, barring access for anything that wasn't a Reaper or traveling by Reaper plans (such as Indoctrinated sleeper agents). That had multiple purposes, the foremost of which was to prevent the organic races being culled from communicating and mounting a defense.

Extrapolating that (and also working directly from Vigil's exposition), the core reason the Protheans were able to break the cycle was because they had a communications system that was independent from the mass relay network. That allowed them to have facilities that were not in the Citadel's records, such as the one on Ilos at which they were constructing a mass relay prototype, that received a warning about the Reapers through that same communications relay and went dark to avoid detection by the Reapers (though how Ilos still managed to not be culled despite having plenty of mention in other Prothean records that would have inevitably been accessible to Reapers anyways during the culling is something of a plothole, but I'll write it off as utter luck).

So, really it's not a matter of "it stands to reason that..." -- it's already been confirmed the Reapers have remote control over the entire relay network through the Citadel.

Honestly speak... Petitions do nothing.  The only real way to force BW to take notice is by voting with our wallet.
If enough people cancel their Pre-Orders then BW might do something.

[/quote]

That is the best way.  But there is another way too which I think you will see a lot of.   People like me who preordered the game, if it has this forced crappy ending, will just sell the game back to a retailer so it can be sold as used.  In fact there will be a rush to because the more used copies a retailer has the lower price they offer to buy it.   If I comes out that a week or two after launch the market is flooded with used copies, that will have an impact almost as good as tons of cancelled pre-orders since used copies cannabilize new sales.

Seriously.

Why can't we have an ending *we* want? You guys get 7 bad endings that you like, is it too much to ask to get one good ending?

Or do these people just get off on screwing us over?

Has anyone considered that maybe BioWare didn't purposely put in the "Tali/Garrus Starve to Death" implication in the ending, and maybe it was just a writing oversight?

So i'm listening to the giantbomb podcast and he said they did testing to see if people liked the story line and stuff. So they showed people the ending in testing and people liked it? Who did they show this to? Maybe there is hope...

Yeah, its all about YOU - and YOU have your ending of choice. Just quit being silly when soneone else other that YOU may have different choices. You got yours and if YOU had any integrity you'd actully try and help us get the ending of OUR choice. Is that to much to ask of you?

Those were definetely on youtube last night but I can't find them now.  Only pastebin list of all the biks.  One thing I did notice.  There is a flashback for Anderson, Kaiden, Ash, Joker and Liara.  So the whole everyone gets Liara everytime thing may just be a glitch.  The same way the pic in your quarters was glitched for the PS3 version of ME2 until they patched it.
