Unfortunately, we haven't won until acceptable fixes have been implemented.

At present, we have a bunch of vague statements that could mean:

Codex entries to explain everything
Extra quests and dialogue to explain what happens at the end
Full endings based on choices

We only win if the third option comes to pass. And even then, we only win when it becomes part of our games and we can actually see the endings.

Then of course the price issue comes up, and debate on whether or not paid DLC is a victory.

I just hope that this holdout of theirs doesn't do irreversible damage to their fanbase.

 - It gets to me every time I see them say "further closure" as if we got ANY closure to begin with. Best I can make out now, Shepard sacrifices himself and destroys every single system that has a Mass Relay - this being based on their own lore. The destruction of the Mass Relays renders everything else pointless because they destroy the systems.

Not really any closure there, just a choice of what color to use to destroy everything you worked to save.

Off to bed - hold the line!

Irrespective of that, unless we have any hard evidence to back up, it's generally just wise to avoid all forms of speculation (apart from the lots we were given at the ending of the game ¬_¬) on the internal workings of the Devs here. Threads have been closed down for this and we don't want it happening here.

Hey guys, do we have a link to a document/post where all the plot holes/inconsistencies are all in written down in one place? Much appreciated.

There are several, but this one is my personal favorite:

No I mean an actual list, like written by one of us. Just containing facts. That an article, thus a writers opinion. Thanks ayway. Anyone?

I completely agree. And please, codex entries would make me want to shoot myself. I never open the codex. Never. Ever. :crying:

I like reading the codex, or the bits where it is read to me.

I've read every codex entry in all three installments, some of them more than once....

Well it;s not a list written by us but contained within the article are several facts such as what BW already established regaridng the mass relays., what they show with the normandy "escaping", what some characters state which flies in the face of what the endings show, etc.

I'm not trying to pressure you to read it, I just wanted to point out that the article is not purely opinion based.

Because it's all fascinating. Culture and history of the races, religious beliefs etc.

The richness and diversity of the lore resides within these pages. The phsyics is quite interesting too where it is mentioned.

I don't know, I just like that sort of stuff. Lore, background, trivia.

Edit: sorry old news, only saw the date now.

It's old news, don't worry.
Any way, what i wonder personnaly is not "when" they will release new contant about more closure and clarification (and i'm still not convinced it would be "new" ending, it could, but it's not a certitude yet), but "what" will they bring.
Some clarification would be welcome (star child make no argument to back his claim, and my momy always told me to never belive strangers  : ))  so i'm not histile againt his concept, i just can't take what he says for granted truth ), joke aside, i need closure poste campaign, not pre last mission, and even if explained... the normandy getting lost on uncharted world will be very hard make me think it was a good idea.

Edit: eh! looks like i pushed the quote button just after your edit, sorry  :P

Just thought I would throw this in here since it seems adequate to our situation regarding the Co-Founder statement (which I still don't see as any kind of a win)

And everything gets swept to the side when you get to screw over the galaxy by choosing from three colors. I loved reading all about the different races and cultures myself and to just think that everything gets destroyed (with the mass relays gone, armadas stranded, or being half organic/half synthetic), it really bums me out. So much richness in the lore and background all seems empty when the last ten minutes come into play.

Oh, no. I go very slowly. I read a lot of the codex while playing. Just when it goes too much into technobabble is that I sometimes close it.

I play very slowly, to tell you the truth. That's one other reason why I don't play MP. I like to talk to everyone, every time I go to the Normandy, go through every computer, choose every single thing again etc.

Ok, I was supposed to log off, but I couldn't refrain from writing another parody:

To return, or not to return, that is the question:
Whether 'tis Nobler in the mind to suffer
The plotholes, and starchilds of outrageous endings,
Or to take Arms against a Sea of nonsense,
And by opposing, change it: to uninstall, to return
No more; and by returning, to say we end
The heart-ache, and the thousand forum posts
That the Eye is fettered to? 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To uninstall, to return,
To return, perchance to get a refund; Ay, there's the rub,
For in that resignation, what 'canon' may remain to us,
When we have given up this will to resist,
Must give us pause. There's the respect
That makes Calamity of so long a wait:
For who would bear the Whips and Scorns of reviews,
IGN's wrong, gamefaq's Contumely,
The pangs of despised fandom, the blog's delay,
The insolence of tweeters, and the Spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his Quietus make
With a bare RMA? Who would forums moderate,
To grunt and sweat under pyramid quotes,
But that the dread of what would remain of ME,
The mindless jungle planet, from whose bourn
No Traveller returns, Puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have,
Than fly to others that we know not of.
Thus Conscience does make Cowards of us all,
And thus the Native hue of Resolution
Is sicklied o'er, with the pale cast of Thought,
And the enterprise of authorizing a return,
With this regard its Current turns awry,
And loses the name of Action.

Hope nobody is getting their hopes up. Bioware said they will "clarify" the endings. Not add to the possible ways it could end. Offering new ending would force them to admit they screwed up and the endings weren't good, but there's too much hubris there for that to happen. Instead they will try to plug plot holes they hadn't recognized until fans pointed them out.

That posting making the rounds about how the ending was written by casey and mac without peer review, clearly because they didn't want to hear negative feedback or thought the "regular" writers wouldn't appreciate casey and mac's genius, is in my opinion exactly what happened.

That posting was already said to be false, so don't pin your entire argument on it.  In fact I'd refrain from using it. Stuff like that got the PR thread shut down.  If it were true it'd be one thing, but it was proven false last night Image IPB

Saw the priestly said it was fake.  But remember he's also the guy who denied the prothean squad member when that leaked.

Eventually you're going to have to trust them.. we can argue the finer points of what they did till the cows come home.. fact is now they've convinced the mainstream media that they're changing the endings, they've convinced a good segment of the movement they're on the level.  They've started housecleaning, which is a post-damage control op to ensure the people who will occupy for no other reason then to occupy are gone and don't inflame a precarious calm.

If they went back on their word now I guarantee there would be one of two things: A) A massive backlash bigger than this one was... or B) People would simply stop trusting them entirely and they'd have destroyed nearly a decade of building an excellent community relation.

I could argue that <insert Bioware Staff Member> ate babies... and at this point someone in the forums would believe me because they're so stuck in the borderline paranoia stage that any argument to the contrary would then be excused away as "Well they did this in the past"...

Speaking as someone who had a friend who tried to drag me to Roswell to "see the coverup".  I see a LOT of similarities here.. and I'll admit, I fell victim to a lot of the same mindset over the last week.  I'm not saying to give Bioware your money and trust them to do your best interests with it.. but I'm also saying that if you're going to spend the next months of your life sitting here secondguessing everything anyone says contrary to what you want to hear that you're going to be miserable... I'm not trying to single you out personally here by the way.. Please don't take it that way and I apologize if you did to this point.  You just happened to reply to me and so I'm replying to you, and everyone else in general.

Much like an actual conflict, we now need to take a step back and realize that the people on the other side have the same emotions we do.. in fact, a month ago they were heroes of the universe for releasing our favourite series.  They're not BAD people... they have families...kids.. (heck their kids might even be like "DAD WHY DID YOU MAKE THE ENDING SUCK").  Yeah the corporatocracy gets in the way of that sometimes.. but, at the same time, they know how we feel now, and they're going to do right by us.  They've said so, they've given us their word... and I think, if anything, we should trust that until such time as they show us otherwise... which I don't think will happen.

So just tone it down a bit.. we don't need to turn this into a 300 year war between the Gamers and the Studio... everyone knows we've got the cooler weapons anyway as gamers...  Be happy for what we've got... if you don't like things, fine, but be nice about it.. if someone called out your character you'd be offended, and rightfully so.

Trust me, if they go back on their word here I will be first in line yelling "LET FLY" on the Thanix Internet Missiles.. but I don't see that happening.

Sorry for the rant.. I just really don't want to see this forum become the asylum for people who have to justify their existences at the expense of others.  We're not there right now... 99.95% of the people here are just gamers and customers who wanted redress, and we've been addressed.  Just be careful you don't allow the .05% to drag you into their world where nothing Bioware does will please them and nothing they do will be taken at face value.

Holding the line, just with a few fireworks of celebration on the side Image IPB
