IMAGINE if the movie industry started doing this lol....

The Lion King:

"If you were half the king Mufasa was-" *Giant explosion destroys the entire planet*

Credits roll. A msg on screen. "Want a new ending? $10 to continue..."

Currently out and really shouldn't be fiddling around on my phone, but man, this cracked me up SO much I just had to say something.

Geinen, if I could physically pat you on the back for giving me such a laugh, know that I would! :D Cheers!

EDIT: Darn, people are staring... Hold The Line!

these thread still exist? shouldn't they shut it down allready for being too long?2296 pages? realy?

Then they would have to cope with another 1000 threads being opened to ask why this one was closed, better they keep us all in one place where they can keep an eye on us.

what the hell is wrong with IGN...I never payed attention to them before the movement so have they always been like this? full of halfassed reporting and taking a stand against pro-gamer movements for seemingly no reason...

Im honestly embarassed that they have any affiliation to gamers because I dont want people to associate me with those "reporters" and I use that term very very losely

even the posts that seem to be on our side from them seem sarcastic and snide to me....

Actually, I think one of the best things that has come out of this entire controversy is the the fact that people are now looking at gaming websites with a more critical eye, and asking some serious questions about journalistic integrity and how they treat their readers.  The number of websites that have dropped off of my bookmarks list is astonishing.

Because the situation was similar in terms of fan reaction and Bioware's response it that reaction.

DA2 was badly written and rushed with an ending that made no sense other than a strange desire to pack as many fights as possible into the ending. (At least ME3 didn't go that far). The result was that quite a large number of people cancelled their pre-orders of ME3, with others boycotting Bioware entirely.

I'd also note that several retailers ended up allowing DA2 to be returned for a full refund, as the game as released was unplayable for a lot of people. Some retailers (principally Amazon) are allowing customers to return ME3 on the basis that they didn't get the game that was advertised.

So you can see why comparisions are being made.

I saw this after I had responded to the other poster.
I won't touch the badly written comment as I hate to get into debates over opinions. I don't claim the game was perfect but that's not why I was curious.

I was not aware the game had been rushed, as I said about the only thing i followed was the release date at the time :P I can understand the comparisons being based on a concept of time rather than content opinion (if that makes any sense).  I didn't realize the bugs were as big an issue as they were, I didn't have problems playing DA:2 myself (unlike the horrific experience I had with Awakenings). AWhether or not I agree, I get it a little better now :P Thanks.

IGN ran the same story, it's rubbish, the Retake movement is not going anywhere.

The comments are... well I will not play their game.  But I have some very entertaining things I could say if I were not being civil (the ones that are condescending on the movement, remember friends, keep your cool and Hold the Line).

I know this is kind of off topic so I hope you'll forgive me as I'm not trying to derail the thread. I've seen several posts (not all of them recent) where people who did not like the ending of ME 3 also did not like DA:2.

Am I the only one that liked that game?

No, I liked DA2 too. The end was not super brilliant but it fit the story

Yeah I liked it too. I got tired of going through the same 3 dungeon layouts over and over but the story was solid and the ending made since in context with what was going on.

Eh, still trying to say we won... haven't won anything until we have satisfactory endings on our computers, xboxes or PS3s.  Just my opinion.

Yeah, I get you as well, the examples are mostly from tv-shows, and game is another thing entirely, and if, IF this was a planned move, it would (At least I hope it would) be handled quite differently.

As you say, IF...

But, if it was all planned, then they let us believe the game was complete, because if they had been honest about it:

"Guys, this game isn't complete, but buy it 'cos we're gonna sell you some DLC later because, by then, you'll just feel compelled to buy it to finish the game."

If they had said that, nobody would have bought the game on release. We'd have all waited for a "complete" bundle or some such thing to come out and they would have been villified in the gaming press. Even IGN would not be able to defend that strategy!

It's all speculation, of course. But that is what they wanted.

What is going on lately? Why does everyone think we are ending this campaign because of some vague statements that don't amount to any kind of victory?

And on top of that, they are claiming that gamers now want their money back from the charity. Since when?

This thread is still growing rapidly - I don't see that as any sign of slowing down.

Unfortunately, I suspect they will only make things worse, because I think they genuinely don't get it anymore.

Maybe they do or maybe they don't.   We won't know for certain.  They are first and foremost a business unit of EA & I don't think they can just do something w/o approval from the top especially where money is concerned.

My reply to this obvious, and poorly constructed attempt to diffuse:

No, no, no... WRONG! No one is winding down the effort. It is unfortunate that Child's Play is no longer accepting donations from Retake Mass Effect. However, their position is understandable.

And the statement by Mr. Muzyka is not being taken at face value. Make no mistake; until an official statement is made clearly declaring one way or another what the intentions of Bioware are, there will be no winding down. If anything, his statement only added fuel to the fire.

We will continue to press on.

We will hold the line!
