I think the bad precedent being set is that developers can release half-finished products, then charge your for the remainder as DLC.

And a lot of people are against us for not liking the endings.

I'll be honest that while I can understand that they may enjoy the endings I don't see why they're making such a huge deal out of it. Whatever will be released will most likely be as DLC so if they're fine with things as they are they just don't download it.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is the whole "maintaining artistic integrity" argument. As an artist myself, and one that does commissions I might add, if a client is unhappy with my work I will go back and redo it.

I guess I'm just becoming more and more jaded about the whole thing. Mass Effect was my safe haven. I have been disappointed and burned so many times as of late with my other favorite game series, I thought ME would at least end on a decent note. Look how well that turned out.

eh, they can revel in their artistic integrity with the folks that like the ending and laugh at us for how dumb we are....

also make big cash selling a good end dlc in the process.....

I didn't buy from ash because i wasn't sure of the replay value of ME3 (even being an awsome journey, the final destination have closed the door of the replay value).

Doesn't matter what "change" they will bring, i won't buy it blindly, i'll wait for some video on yutube and buy if it seems to match what i espect. If not, then the replay value for me will remain crippled, and i never invest money on extra for a game i'll play just once or twice as a whole.

Nothing personnal agains't Bioware as i loved most of their game, it's just "respect" toward my earned money.

I guess a break should help.

No problem.  My first few days of ME3 grief I ended up staying up until the wee hours of the morning posting here.  It really did start to affect the quality of my posts and my outlook on the future of Mass Effect.  Now that I'm through all the stages and have settled into "grim determination", I find that a good night's sleep and a little time away from the BSN throughout the day helps keep me sharp when I do need to post.

Probably helped that the weather here was less "end of winter" and more "midsummer" these past few days.

anyone think were missing something from the game.

like the actual final battle, the one on one battle with harbinger re can assume control of any of the collectors, husks even reapers and then releases control.

the reaper we saw shooting at us was under harbingers control so yeah, he's not dead

YET another plot hole

If that is what happens, they can be happy about the cash. I hope they take a Scrooge McDuck jump into it. Because afterwards I think there won't be a lot of revenue to look at, if this is what they're trying to get away with.

Btw, this is not an attack on Bioware or anything, I'm just exaggerating for the sake of comedy.

i don't disagree....at this point, they've already red flagged themselves in my eyes....either this was the plan all along (while i will still pay for it becaue of how into the series i am, i'll remember this going forward) or they flat out are liars (which i'd like to think not, but the proof seems to be tilting the scale to one side) or they just couldn't figure out how to end things and thought this was good (in which case i just can't figure out how one more ending what was happier escaped them)

don't know which one....but....i'll be interested to see how this plays out

Ok, I finished reading the ign 'article' about movement winding down, and am currently torturing myself with the comments. Is it usually this hostile there, or has the place been overrun by hairy creatures with tails and fangs? Just so I know whether to steer even clearer of the place in the future.

IGN has zero credibility.  They attacked us from the start in a vitriolic, unprofessional manner.  More importantly, as one of their staffers was given a part in the game by Bioware - despite her complete lack of anything resembling acting ability, and their decision to kill off a known character to make room for her.

They have no journalistic distance whatsoever.  Nothing they say can be trusted, and nothing they do should be taken seriously.

QFT.  Bioware isn't stupid, except for letting casey and mac write the ending without having it go through the open-discussion review process that the rest of the scenes went through.  They're smart enough to realize if they can bring people who work for review sites "under the tent" so to speak, that would create an inherent conflict of interest which is exactly what they were hoping to achieve.  I'm sure it's not a huge amount, but it just FEELS like they figured ME3 would be awesome no matter what so why not spend time on some gimmicks instead.  Seriously, think about all the gimmicks they spent time on when they could have been working on quality content instead:

-Chobot BS
-Space edition
-Premeditated Day-1 DLC
-Multiplayer
-Gay option (which I support, but did they ever make sure you recognized it)
-Kinect
-ios apps
-Primetime TV spot

Plus countless others (Emily Wong twitter etc.).  I understand they have a marketing group which does most of the legwork for things like this but all of the above DID consume time dealing with, time which would have been better spent on better ending content.

Well according to a certain journalist at a certain website new endings optional or not ( but most likely optional) should not exist alongside his ending, which to me makes no sense since multiple endings were something that was supposed to happen form the get go.

Also has anyone written an article on why the endings make sense and are established lore? Because I want to read it so as to understand their take.

I can't. Without trying to be inflamatory, I don't see how anyone could've enjoyed that, unless they somehow had zero investment in the game to begin with. Then again, I suppose people like a lot of things I consider completely stupid, so I shouldn't be so surprised.

BW might be listening and remember this, its normally a MONTH after a games release that DLC is then put out (apart for the lame ass day-one bullsh*t).

so april IS technicly the first offical DLC , BUT it will also give them a month to get there act togeather, who knows they actually might make a patch/dlc that includes all the cut content................I WISH

-_-.

april 4th would be the earliest we can expect anything if not it will be the following week after PAX as it looks like BW is waiting untill AFTER it -_-

I would pay for Happy Ending DLC. No joke.

I haven't determined exactly how much it's worth to me, but with how I feel right now about the entire franchise, the amount of money I'd pay to make the hurt go away may be at or near the price of a full game.  It's not exactly consumer-savvy, but that's how invested I was in Mass Effect.

Kind of irritating, isn't it? I feel the same way. I would pay the price of a full game for a proper ending.

had my crew not magically appeared on the normandy and quizically been stranded on a random planet (whilst all other ships apparently didn't get stuck in some random explosion) and there had been some aftermath cut scenes as to what happened, i probably wouldn't be up in arms.....

but the reality, coupled with elroythespaceboy, not seeing how my efforts (just in me3) played out in battle, or at least seeing my crew question WhereTF is shep and i just can't chew it....

This, imo,  is a dangerous statement.  We must remian civil, polite, and respectful.

If I were going to PAX, and I saw someone with a BioWare T-Shirt, I would walk over to them, politely introduce myself, thank them for their hard work making some of my favorite games, including the first 99% of ME3.

No need to explicitly insult the ending,l the implication is there. And it is all done in a civilized manner.  Sometimes what is not said is more important than what is said.

Does the term "elitist" mean anything to you? They just pretend to be smart and understand the ending, just like a lot of people who pretend to know abstract "art".

They are just hoping that now that we have something to possibly look forward to, we will all calm down and wait.  Then when next month rolls around and they roll out a three minute "clarification" piece which shows Joker zooming in to pick up our squaddies and then trying to run away (filling that massive plot hole), they're hoping enough of us have moved well into the "acceptance" phase that the fires will burn a lot less brightly a month from now.  Trust me, read ray's statement carefully, it does not sound like someone admitting maybe they miscalculated - it comes across as, I'm sorry SOME of our fans are too stupid to understand our creative genius so we'll help them (and oh by the way thanks for pointing out those massive plot holes casey and mac missed, we'll be sure to now plug those).
