Ok so Iv been trying to tell every one this but the theory of indoctrination is quiet true and what you see that then end is most likely a dream stare. Think about it shepred as inside the citidiel and if you chose the destroy option and have 5k army support you get and ending sean were he is breathing.

If this is so how did shepred get back to earth? why is he still alive? if he did fall why is the ruble he is surrounded in concreat and not metal? From the evdince Iv seen Mike just wanted to see what people came up with in there own minds for the ending before releasing DLC showing us the true ending.

Given what they've presented us: Space magic is the explanation.

On a more sincere note: I have no idea. It's clearly on Earth, so Shepard sure as hell wouldn't survive reentering the atmosphere, especially with damaged armour and no helmet. Shepard certainly didn't survive that the first time...

Well in one note its all a dream the "Space magic" never really happens it just the knoke back from the energy from the indoctrination takeing over or releaseing. I do suggest you go watch a youtube video called "Shepreds indoctrination" it esplanes all my pointes and also go see angryoes version he pointes out some good points too.

Oh yes, I've seen all of the indoctrination videos several times. In fact, it does leave me wondering how Shepard doesn't fall victim to indoctrination if the theory isn't true. Shepard spent days sedated near Object Rho in the Arrival DLC. Would that not have some effect?

Agreed. The indoctrination theory is a very clever idea, but I doubt this was actually Bioware's intention. They wouldn't intentionally release an incomplete game. That being said, the indoctrination theory would serve as a good "backdoor entrance" to an alternate ending.

I agree.  It may not have been originally intended as the ending, but the fact that it's been brought up and supported so vocally gives them a convenient escape hatch.

If they do choose indoc, whether or not it's what they intended (regardless of the truth I believe they'll claim it was intended) as long as the DLC was free and the extended ending does wrap ME3 up in a way that makes sense, fits with the rest of ME, and honours their earlier promises I'd be happy with it. I want to still be able to play the ME franchise and love it, and I personally wouldn't care where an ending originated from as long as it's satisfying.

Indeed, and if you think out it, its really cleaver. Makeing us all think that the ending was so horrible we all make are own ending now giveing the creative mind of the fans to make there own ending is really nice. But from all the twitter feeds iv seen of Bioware telling fans to "Hang in there" and "keep your saves" suggest we arnt done with Me3 yet.

We know at this point that 'indoctrination' was never their original intent.
The question is whether it COULD become the basis for a RETCON.

I support that idea. It could save the story, unlike the latest 'tech singularity' retcon which ruined it.

But they clearly had no 'clever' plan like that, at the time of release.
I think the sad truth is that they knew they were shipping a crippled 'ending', and thought they'd get away with that.

Was discussing the specs for my computer with a fellow geek at the store I work at. Someone drove through the parking lot and tried to toss their trash into the can near the door. He missed and hit the door leaving a brownish streak all the way down.

The guy says, "Still better than the ME3 ending."

We had many lulz.

I posted this right when it went down, so I'm reposting.

So here is Cannon's Guide to Releasing the real ending after the game comes out.

1) Have a strong PR department and an iron resolve because it is going to get ugly

2) Have the most amazing real ending possible because if you fail the 2nd time, well I feel even the most restrained sean connery might explode

3) Here is the most important part - You slowly tease out the answer, but you start on day 7 or earlier. They have the faux news feed and twitter accounts. Make coded articles that when read carefully could show that there was something on the horizon. These articles could come out around DLC launches too, so people who aren't able to buy the DLC can be part of the team.

I could see something about mordin talking about an experiment where he was provided 5000 samples but it wasn't enough for optimal results. Seriously that would be so cool.

4) Each piece of DLC adds more clues to the puzzle, but aren't required. The DLC themselves are great and they each could have a theme that could point to a real or extended ending.

5) Multiplayer announcements could do the same thing

6) Release the real ending, and give people a chance without DLC to be able to do something made difficult that DLC'ers wouldn't have (but still possible) and it could be released down the line. The real ending should be free, (must pay to have disc form w/o internet is fair I guess)

Most important part is 3 because you have to let people play along instead of feeling like they were played. Very important but sometimes subtle distinction.

The people who created the ME universe could very easily have thought this up, and with the indoctrination theory I could see it possible.

But...

it could also be a unsatisfying ending. We grasp at straws because the thought of something we look up to failing isn't something we normally want to accept.

What do game writers and designers think about BioWare changing the Mass Effect 3 ending?

http://www.pcgamer.c...-writers-think/

I'm still reading it myself.

From Gary Whitta

“I’ll be interested to see how BioWare will respond to the fan reaction in terms of future content—clearly they intend to do something, but what remains to be seen. As much as it left me with many questions and ultimately feeling kind of uncomfortable, I really hope they don’t attempt to retcon or in any way “undo” the ending they presented. I’ve always felt that games like Mass Effect are all about living with the consequences of your choices, no matter what they may be, and I think BioWare should do the same thing here and stick with their original choice, trust their original creative instinct, rather than allow the fan response to cause them to second-guess themselves. My gut feeling is that they will add new content to help clarify and resolve some of the questions that are out there while sticking to their original creative intentions and I while that’s less bothersome than calling a complete do-over, as a storyteller it still bugs me.

I guess he did not play through to the end, that's all I can think, what choices, build your EMS?, what choices could change the outcome of ME3, because if they exist, I missed them.

I can imagine him somehow hijacking the game and just breaking the fourth wall going "screw this crap" "I'm commander shepard and this is how the ending is gonna go down...."
(Insert insane yet awesome ending here)
