I honestly dont get how people actually thought that Bioware was going to actively change the ending with DLC xD
if they did end up doing that it would be super crappy with rushed in game cutscenes that try to appease fans and a lack of dialogue because they wouldnt be able to get certain voice actors back. It would be way too ridiculous and not nearly as refined visually as the current ending.
Closure is all I really ever expected, and im pretty sure they were planning to do that from the start. We just couldnt wait until a month or so to start raging about the lack of it.
The current ending is "refined"? I'm going to have to, well, disagree with you on that one. The overall quality, IMO, falls off a cliff about the time Shepard wakes up on the Citadel.
When I say refined, I mean that cinematically it was very well done. It was all pre-rendered CGI at the end. The music was top notch, the voice acting was great. etc etc etc.
If they created a new ending from scratch it would be crap. It would feel forced and it wouldnt feel like the REAL ending because it wouldnt fit with what was there previously. It would be there just to appease fans and it would feel just out of place. Im not saying the current ending didnt have problems story wise, im just talking about production value. Its like saying "I didnt like the giant pre rendered CGI space battle before the Earth sequence that probably took a long time to make. Change it."
Bioware isnt going to do anything with the ending that they already hadnt planned on doing, I assure you. All I expect is DLC that adds a bit of closure as to why Joker took that Mass Relay, why the Relays exploding didnt destroy everything, etc etc. Hell, we might even get to play as different characters like Joker in ME2. Hell, we get to play as aliens in the multiplayer, we might be able to play as different races in upcoming DLC, but who knows.
Bioware was probably planning ever since the first script leak to hold things back just so they could release it later as DLC.
