What's funny is that ME2 ends in either a Red Explosion (destroy) OR a Blue Explosion (keep). What's the difference? ME2 had meaningful decisions leading up to that point (upgrade, rescue the crew, loyalty missions, choosing parties members to go through the vent/fire team/biotic shield and so on). There was a logical progression to the endgame. There were surprises along the way (Human Reaper, Collectors as Protheans) but all of the surprises added to the mythology of the universe. ME3; not so much.

Exactly. And the choices you made throughout the game determined who lived and died during that entire ending sequence. In ME3, no matter what you do, it's the same.

I think one thing that I dislike about me3s ending is how it manages to seem specific in all the wrong spots, yet vague overall.
<snip/>

That is a very good observation. Novelists play with ambiguity all the time, but you have to know where to be specific and where to leave things ambiguous. It DOES seem almost reversed in ME3. I remember reading about this at some point. I think it was called "discourse rhythm" or something like that...

(...meaning "discourse" in the sense of the top level of a grammatical hierarchy: morpheme, word, phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph, discourse...)

I think what bothers me the most is that we know the ME universe/mythology better than the writers at Bioware. I'm not getting paid to remember that destroying the relays releases huge amounts of energy and so on. It's their job to keep this stuff straight. This isn't Star Trek where it's been around so long that a writer will inevitably contradict something else. This isn't the first warning sign either. Remember that novel (Deception I think) that came out a couple of months ago? The one that was so filled with in-universe errors that Bioware had to come out and apologize. They apologized but they didn't STOP selling it.

So... I've just skimmed through the last few pages after being gone about 8 hours. I saw the deleted twitter... seems to support Ray's earlier statement. Guess we really are loosing...

Only if we start thinking like that and let it happen. Remember nothing of this would be happening if not for us. No one said it would be fast or easy, but we've taken a first step in making our voices heard and getting BioWare to listen and react. If they are short-sighted enough to make the new content in the same spirit as the current ending, we'll just have to stay at it until we get what we want or they flat-out ignore us.

Yeah... I know, it's just that it seems very unlikely they'll do something more to address the ending after they release a crappy Clarity & Closure DLC or whatever it will be. Still... I'll be here.

Naes1984 - yeah, I want to just think it's a coincidence but can't help but connecting them. Glad I never bought that one. So they didn't even change it?

Tyranniac - what wepeel said :)

We arent losing, and enough external firepower hasnt fully come online to make us winning either. We're holding the line. Thats all we can do, and it can be a **** but its worth it. IGN has reversed their standing, Amazon has published an article giving statements by supposedly on of the writers involved in ME3 who said that the ending recieved no peer review. It goes on and on.. No, we havent shaken the world, but we've moved some pretty big rocks..
keep the faith and hang on with us.. we are by far, not losing and we are gaining strength each day..

i do belive mass effect more apeals to peoples sense of wonmder with logic science and profound questions theres alittle room for the artistic crowd . but more then not its foor lovers of detaisl .. like if my choice leaves wrex alive at virmire what wil it lead to? . like take wrex at viremire if i let him live do i think he might help me later? perhaps the krogan arent as bad of a people as they are made out to be? maybe ill need his aid later in reruiting the krogan to our side? against the reapers. but if i let him live maybe ill have to stop the krogans from running a mock? since mass effect games are about that kinda moral choice.
people that tend to only like art and shows tend to say oh his death was soo dramatic! such a show down!
for example
i am both artistic and love science/ morality and all that other big questions out there. i found a perfect series in both mass effect/ kotor series

All i want is closure, for my decisions to matter, and an actual choice where I can decide what happens in the end. Is that to much to ask? Please fix this.

Hi, I have been away for a week. I have just seen Ray Muzyka's answer. I am not especially fluent in english and there is so many quick change in the forum that I would be please if someone could summarize me the discussions you may have one that point. Do they plan to create new endings or just to add clarifications on existing ones?
Many thanks in advance to those who will answer me.

They still are not saying. They say they will announce something in April. Some Twitter posts from Bioware make it sound like they are just clarifying, though they are usually taken down real quick. Nobody knows.

Thanks, that is what I was fearing...

Kewnsty - I agree, mass effect and kotor were really good with logic and scifi. I have to say though that kotor 2 was not as good in my opinion as the first one. And while I like swtor (subscription suspended for the time being ;) ) I liked the game cause it was sp. I did like how they wove the old lore with the new lore though.

Just to throw in my two cents, destroying organic life in order to "save" it is stupid. It just is.
Joker also shouldn't be fleeing, that makes no sense in any way.
My biggest problem is the destruction of the Mass Effect Relays. That darned kid lied to me when he only said one ending choice would destroy the Mass Effect Relays. Why would the 'synthesis' ending make all the Mass Effect Relays explode? I thought the whole point of synthesis was that you're combining organic and synthetic life and not destroy anything?

Bethesda just released a DLC that retextures the Entire Game of Skyrim. For. Free!

The notion that games are art that can't be changed because of artistic fiat? Blown out of the water yet again.

Aren't they the same people who released a dlc to change the ending of Fallout 3?

It was actualy a very good DLC and fitted into the storyline pretty well.

A tweet seems to suggest they are only going to clarify/add on, NOT change the endings.

Bioware has apparently learnt NOTHING from the disaster of DA2 then or are even listening to us.

It's like they're saying "Okay, you don't like starchild, let me tell you WHY you should like starchild."
