Ok, so slightly OT - the horrendous ending seems to have colored everything that I read and see, not just ME related.
I was reading in the Economist about Lady Gaga's social media strategy, and this line drew my attention: " Mr Carter (co-founder of the company that runs Lady Gaga's fan site) says that experience with Lady Gaga has taught him that what a super fan says can sometimes have a bigger impact on fellow fans than a word from the Lady herself."
I think that somewhere along the line BW / EA forgot this key principle of any business - your core supporters / loyalists are your most important asset as they are the most likely to overlook your faults and be your strongest advocates. However, the Ending was a big screw you to all of us who have invested so much time and emotional attachment to the ME universe, and the reason the movement has shown the traction it has is purely because the endings are so universally reviled and particularly by the most passionate of fans.
BW's response to the movement has also been telling in terms of how they view their fans. All statements have subtle (or not so subtle) digs at the fans, minimizing their size, or coming from the angle of artistic integrity (so who cares about how you guys feel), or insinuating a large proportion of fans have been engaging in "unconstructive criticism". Just a blatant slap in the face to the fans. On top of that, they have not taken the leadership to rebuke those sites who are writing articles slamming the fans as "entitled", "whiny" and what have you. Wouldn't your impression of them have improved significantly if they had taken a stand and said "stop with the name calling, these people are part of our family, and we are working very hard to listen to their concerns and determine how we could potentially address them" (I've been working in corporate settings long enough to write statements without committing to anything

)
Instead, we are where we are today, patiently (and occasionally impatiently) waiting for the next move from BW. let's hope they dont disappoint again.
