So we can't get the ending we want after all?

I mean in ME2 they did give us a comic where we had to make some big choices, but a lot of little choices were left out, and they always defaulted to the worst possible outcome. I kinda wonder why they did that.
That being said, I'm glad they did make it for the PS3, even with its problems.

Not really, I mean sure they destroy the ring but Frodo, Gadalf ect all leave middle earth never to be seen again....thats kinda sad really lol.
It's still a better ending than what we were given in ME3. There was closure at least and no unanswered questions that I can possibly think of. The movies could have been a little more like the books, though. They cut out a lot (Hobbit Rebellion, anyone?). Still a good series, hands down.

OK I feel a bit better now lol, seriously though I love my PS3 so I bought ME2 and ME3 for it. Then when I got my xbox I bought ME1 and ME2 for that aswell, had planned on getting ME3 eventually aswell so I could do a full ME1-ME3 playthrough. Now I won't bother unless they fix the ending.
This EMS thing though is driving me mental, we need to figure this b**ch out!
I know what I'm complaining about as soon as they deal with the ending...<_<
I mean, right now I don't care, because we won't get a better ending anyways. But if they fix it, I want an explanation about EMS. Even if they don't, I want the breathing scene.

I was reading the Collector's Edition Guide (mostly to see if it had some insights) and it says: "Even players without access to online multiplayer are capable of getting the best ending. After beating the game once, starting a New Game opens up new possibilities. A secret ending is aldo available to players who complete the game a second time."
Maybe NG+ gives more war assets? I don't know though, you can get the "secret ending" even without NG+, so maybe they're wrong about the war assets too :/
There's also a little TIP in here: "There is a special reward available only to players who have imported a save from ME2 with the Prejek Paddle Fish purchased by Commander Shepard. If the Prejeck Paddle Fish survives through all of ME3 and ME3 NG+, visit Liara's quarters aboard the Normandy for a very special bonus!"
Anyone knows what it is? I'm curios, but I don't have a ME2 save with that fish and I surely don't have the strenght to play ME3 again

Good question. ._. They just kinda started with the second game...in a series where (supposedly) choices from all prior games have an impact...yet they didn't make the first game for the PS3... The fudge, Bioware?
My question was actually rhetorical, I know the answer MONEY

Actually, I've heard that if you don't save Maelon's research in ME2, Eve dies. Combine that with killing Wrex in ME1 and successfully persuading Mordin into NOT sacrificing himself and you get Salarian and Krogan aid (Wreav never figures out you scammed him). After that, get the Quarians and Geth to make peace, complete every side quest and scan every system and I think you may have enough. I'm trying to do a Trilogy Run to see if my theory is right, but I can't get into ME1; every time I'm about to "ending depression" sets in again.

Don't get me wrong I am also glad they made it for PS3, it is my preffered console and I suck at PC gaming.
But the back story comic should have had more in it, or they should have somehow made ME1 for the PS3 (think of the money they could have made off it if they had)

I did all of that. Eve survived; I had both Salarians and Krogans; Geth and Quarians became bffs...trust me, I got all the "best" outcomes possible. Still not 4000...really close, but not 4000...

4000 EMS, yes. Not TMS, but EMS.
That and save Anderson.

TMS? (sorry my brain is moving at a snails pace tonight)
I don't remember exactly but my EMS was around 3500? maybe...something like that anyways. I honestly can't remember, I would have to load my game up to check and I can't do that just now.

Darn. I had done all of that except sabotaging the cure (Wrex and Eve lived) and I ended up with 3700. I had hoped the Salarian support would have filled the rest, but if you've already tried all that...
I'm gonna need some time to figure this out. Anyone got a link to a complete War Assets list?

If you haven't played multiplayer at all, your galaxy readiness is 50%, so your EMS is half of your TMS.
So technically, you need at least 8000 total assets to get the perfect ending...yeah, right. <_<

I got it my first time too. Played on Role-playing, had 3625 EMS and saved Anderson, but I had to play MP to raise the EMS score a tad. If you didn't play MP, maybe you could load up that Shep and take a vid of all the completed quests (you may have found some we missed) as well as of your EMS while telling us how you handled the endgame? Then we could test it out and put this whole thing to rest.
Hmm, maybe. This all seems a tad weird, to me. Especially having Shepard breathing connected to how ready the galaxy is...I think I'm going to force myself into another play through to see what I did (going to make a new run through ME2 first). Something doesnt add up. I'll have to go through and count how many quests/missions I completed and do a comparison. That being said, missions + fetch quests + finding ships while scouring the galaxy...who knows. After each set of "story missions" (eg. after finishing the krogan ones) the things you can find in the galaxy change...so perhaps dumb luck and I stumbled across something?
This has me scratching my head. Cause I know I didn't do anything "special" and I didnt start playing the multiplayer till after the end. At any rate, this would be something else we can add to the list of why the endings are off.

Wells there is a difference, I saved the Krogans. However I did have both the Geth and Quarians, plus I ended out finding Salarian fleets to help me anyways. It was about half way through the campaign that I started getting decent numbers added to my EMS.
Wracking my brain for this, because trusting my luck, I stumbled across something that helped and didnt realise it.

Hell, I even scanned every system possible. Kept going back to the Citadel to get more quests. Did every available sidequest before taking a priorty mission. Still 3,500. Unless there are some seriously well hidden side quests, I'm calling BS on multiplayer not needed.
I agree.
On my first playthrough and before I began playing the multiplayer, I didn't get the breathing scene even though I chose destroy, completed every sidequest before a priority mission, scanned every planet I possibly could, and maxed out my paragon bar so I could compromise with the geth and quarians.
On my second playthrough I recently finished, however, I maxed out my galactic readiness rating with multiplayer prior to taking on the Cerberus base. Only then did I get the "best possible" ending scene, so the multiplayer not being needed is definitely BS. Unfortunately, other than that one scene, there was no difference whatsoever in the ending.

Question regarding the bold bit....how did you get it full? I mean for whatever reason I was only half way up, and that was carrying over a full paragon from ME2...this whole thing just confuses me *sigh*
