Or how your crew looks so happy when they step out of the crashed Normandy.

Omg this, when I saw Kaidan step off the Normandy smiling I was like "wait....the supposed love of his life just died and he's....smiling? wtf?"

Since about all available pics of Liara comes from either the comics or screenshots of the games, how the hell did you get several gigs worth of Liara pics?

Off topic to what we're currently discussing here - but I'm currently researching "game based learning" methods for educators (part of my university degree). Anyway, I am reading a 2006 article by Kurt Squire and I quote:
"Indeed, because play is instantiated only through players' actions, tensions arise over who exactly is the "author" of the game experience ... As such, gamer designers "write" the parameters for players' experience, and the game experience as such is best described as an interaction between the game designer and player."

My first thought: Mass Effect 3... It pops up everywhere!! haha

I've been wondering about that myself. Changing writers is probably one reason. A character's writer doing mostly other things than writing this character may be another. Accidental character traits we pick up but which were never intended by the writer yet another. And as a corollary, the fanbase rejecting intended character traits which were introduced with one line and never elaborated upon.

Lack of dedication and competence may also be a problem. I wouldn't have said that before ME3, but certain parts of the game are written badly or shoddily to an extent I find almost unbelievable (endings, yeah, but not just those). Which is all the more noticeable because other parts of the game were written so well.

*coughs* Other stuf that's related to Liara as well... Fanfics and such.... It might just be all Mass Effect in general...

Edit: Oh and then there's all of the..... naughty images....

OK, after some horrid dreams about the Internetius Trolliaus BBC Wildlife document, I'm back.

And I actually managed to find a (false) piece of news on the site of the largest game magazine in Finland, titled 'New ending to ME3', the article itself being about two lines long. And that is the first mention in the magazine in question of the movement. So yeah, I'm glad I have never been a subscriber to the magazine, sine the quality and objectivity is clearly overwhelming...

On the bright side, judging by the comments, most people are either on our side, or at the very least neutral. Nice change from exotic experiences I have had the joy to have over at IGN.

I was thinking of starting a new ME1 character after House.
I don't want ME3 to ruin ME1 and 2 for me so I am going to give it a go :)

Hey xHezz, what's the time in NZ? I'm curious cause apperently my parents are going there soon, so I want to get a general sense of the time difference between here and there.

A good question...

Its like we're more involved with the characters than they are, and they're the ones who made them.... Take Joker for example, we all know how much he would want to kick the rEApers collective asses, but they turn around and have him fleeing the Sol system....We also know that he's not one to run from a fight, cause he's been following Shepard since she/he first became a Spectre, I mean he's not once complained about Shepard's choices...

To me  thats a sign a of lazy writer when the fans  know the characters better than the creators.  FYI, there is  no way I would walk up to say...  Stan Lee or Tite  Kibo and  claim I know Spiderman and Ichigo better then those two. They put that much attention and care in the character.   The fact that they had Joker and the crew do some thing so blantely OOC  just shows how disconnected with the narrative the endings are.  This also  shows that they need to have better checks on the writing staff at  Bioware because a good editor  would have caught this.

Sigh... had a dream about ME3 last night, which is weird because I never dream about video games, despite being a dedicated gamer for nearly 30 years (been gaming since I was 3). It was about helping Tali build her house on Rannoch (though it did flash back and forth between that and being on the Fleet... kinda trippy). Ended with Shepard hugging her from behind as she took her mask off to look at the finished home and getting to see her face without needing a photo.

:crying:

Holding the line for Tali.

@Nharia1: You must be west coast U.S. I'm east, currently almost 5:30 am. :P

That's if they even had anyone go over it. You've heard the stories about how Mike Gamble and Casey Hudson just closeted themselves in a room and wrote the end by themselves without any input from the writing department...

Yo, I had a friend send me a message about the Mass Effect Final Hours app. I don't have it, but I was wondering if someone could verify this, but apparently Casey Hudson said the ending was not meant to bring closure but invoke "feelings" from the players (its meant to be in the app somewhere).

If thats true, then Bioware willingly lied to us about the ending. They would have known full well that what they were telling us through the reviews about giving answers and giving us multiple endings was all false.

I'm fairly certain that if true, if Casey did say that...it would bring a whole new level of s**t to this issue.

If there's one good thing about all of this, it's the Mass Effect 3 datapad... When I run my tabletop ME RPG, it'll be invaluable when the players have a question and I can just whip out the datapad and run the codex. :P

Not sure about the Final Hours app (not paying 3-4 bucks for it)... But from what I gather from another quote, he wanted the endings to be polarizing and talked about. The problem is, I think the way he wanted to talked about is more like discussing exactly what happened, where the characters will go from here, what happened to the universe, etc. Don't think they expected it to be remembered for the backlash and not the story.

Yep I have watched the review many times.

I meant I was curious why some people seem to get it with JUST SP when others don't :P

Most likely it's the range. I've seen stuff out that'll say "4000" then the next says "5000", but it could be you actually only need "4500" for "this particular ending", but since you can't just skip to the end with x-amount; you can't test it. So one person will say "I had 4120" and got "this ending", and another will say "I had 5003" and got "that ending". I would venture to guess that if we wait 3-months we'll have nearly exact numbers on what you need to get all of the same...I mean 16 different endings. :P
