Yeah, we'd be here, because Mass Effect is a story with a beginning and an ending. It was planned like that from day one..  Skyrim, ( home of the creation kit ) is an open world platform. There, the story takes a back seat to the offering of making your own stories.  In a case like Skyrim, cration kits add an incredible amount to the game over all, but in games like Mass Effect, those very creation kits would serve no real purpose whatsoever..

No purpose whatsoever?!  Hasnt it ever bothered you that Cerberus troops get to have fancy jet-packs on their feet?  That you cant bring along your cyber dog from the armory to kick some ass?  That you can't use biotics to float around?

In all serious, I was speaking on the behalf of creating silly endings, we can do that just fine ourselves.  I wasnt speaking to our expecting a quality product from the developers.

i rather like creation kids. even for games like mass effect i wouldn't see any harm coming from it. i mean the modding for dragon age origins went fine, didn't it?

Did they really say they weren't going to change the endings and also have y'all noticed how many pro ending threads have popped up all of a sudden hold that line

I wonder if there are some BW employees here on anonymous accounts to try and steer us into the wrong direction, or attempt to make us believe the endings are ok. Just speculation, we all love that... *sighs*

If you check the mass effect reddit about the leak, I want to highlight the comment of Redpriest because he's spot on:

"You guys are being played.
This is written directly for this type of audience - the EA bashing
thrown in for good measure. This is the definition of a troll, and not
even a good one.

"After speaking with a close friend who is an attorney, I've decided
to take the risk of of expounding."

His close friend/attorney is a frigging idiot if he advised him it
was "okay" to post this stuff. This, if, true, would be tantamount to
theft of intellectual property and they would go after him, hard.

"Nothing was more heartbreaking than the moment when Dragon Age 2, which was not yet in alpha status"

This right here destroys any credibility this person had. ^ It's also
written to pander to an audience that, typically, doesn't like DA2. If
anyone has ever done any soft of software development or game
development, you'd realize how bogus a statement that would be. A game
in pre-alpha status is by definition nowhere near ready to be shipped.
It would be filled with bugs. Filled."

Precisely.  Also, a really small point, but one that American fans would not pick up: Canadians never call lawyers "attorneys".  It's a very American thing.  I'm a law student and it just doesn't happen except for "Crown Attorney" or "Attorney General", which are official titles.  And given how long this guy has supposedly been at Bioware, he has to be Canadian.

Sorry chaps, got called away to a meeting with her majesty the queen.

Queen: Mr Bond, it has come to this ones attention that much unrest exists with the populace of the galaxy.
Bond: Yes Ma'am, intelligence reports that an organization known as Bioware has released a devastating weapon upon the galaxy.
Queen: This sounds serious mr bond, how bad is it?
Bond: Worse than indoctrination Ma'ma.
Queen: Mr bond!, that is a serious claim, on what basis do you make this claim?
Bond: Well Ma'am, the weapon entices you with promise of glory, honour and hope.
Queen: But mr bond I see nothing wrong with those attributes, these are things we hold dear in the empire.
Bond: Yes Ma'am, but when the weapon has completed it's function all those attributes are removed from the victims leaving nothing but an empty husk.
Queen: "glares", this is outrageous, one will not stand for such atrocities!, you are hereby authorized by any and all means to combat this threat!
Bond: Thank you Ma'am, the current resistance is strong and we will do whatever it takes.
Queen: You are dismissed.
Bond: Thank you Ma'am, "turns and begins to walk to the exit"
Queen: Nice arse.
Bond: Errr, excuse me Ma'am, I've got a galaxy to save, "quickly exits"

*snip*

Why did Mr. Connery'svoice go through my head when I read Bond's lines....
Well played DJBare.
Don't know if you've already wheighed in on the latest topic, but what's your take on the whole 4chan "leak"?

Third video in Archengeia's series on Mass Effect.  Very long, 41 minutes, havent finished watching it myself yet to say whether or not it's worth all 41 minutes, but his 2 previous video's made some excellent points and kept my interest.

See his first 2 videos in my sig, the first especially is worth the 30 minutes to watch imho.

I actually saw this posted in this thread a couple days ago but it deserves to be reposted. This guy is absolutely spot on about why people have every right to be mad about the endings.

http://jmstevenson.w...-mass-effect-3/

Came across that article this morning in another thread and couldn't agree with it more.

Except I also think that...

It should also include references to all of the decisions, survivors and war assets collected.

And

There should be endings ranging from bleak despair to fluffy bunnys.  Even if you have to work damn hard to get the fluffy bunny ending.

I would go and replay the game and get all the dlc to get a fluffy bunny ending.

D Hunter?? It's ok..  Nothing to sweat.. "IF" you want real, may i recommend "he Thin Red Line"  Caution, its depressing. but i cried mostly because everything the main character thought throughout the film, was exactly the same thoughts that went through my own mind.
Another very real film  is "Full Metal Jacket" Its a bittersweet ending, the protagonist survives. That part is the sweet part..
Lastly, is a WWI film, "The Lost Batallion". The last mortar attack with the rounds walking in on top of the guys almost put me in the hospital. Took me days to come back after that..

Well I don't know if they do it in a similar way to the UK but here they use the terms Solicitors and Barristers.

No wonder you're a law student.  Nice catch there, I totally over looked that.  At work I spend a lot of time with Americans so I dont even pick up on the distinct terms anymore.

But excellent point.

That's the kind of speculation that got the PR thread closed, just saying.  Also, some people have been protesting here for over 2 weeks, I bet the reason the ending threads are on the front page now is that people have given up posting on the boards and are waiting to hear what Bioware has to say.  If they don't like it, the boards will erupt again.  Meanwhile, the people that love the ending are finally getting to argue with us instead of having their threads buried, but most of those posts are filled with Retake members telling them that they're jealous, because if they enjoyed the endings then they wouldn't be here.

Not really seeking out a particular genre, just had the Dh to hand, full metal jacket is good. anyway to get on topic, erm well, I thought the endings to Me3 were... bad

I dont know, thinking back. Watching the only friends you have suddenly cease to exist because they took a bullet, or evaporated into a fog of blood and body parts does some pretty strange things too you. the pain and anger get confused and its so intense its beyond being able to deal with. You go inward trying to escape. the inside of your own mind becomes the only reality as your body either keeps moving forward or collapses to the ground. All your thoughts and emotions become centered around just that moment and those friends who you couldnt save. They died, your alive, such an incredible injustice.
There arent many ways to put something like that into a story, let alone a game, and from looking at pictures, i can damned well guarantee that Mr Casey and friends wouldnt even have a frikkin clue to begin with. But, maybe magic boy, was his attempt to create that inner mind thing. it was a poor attempt, but no civillian could ever comprehend that moment.
Sheapard would have stuffed it and kept moving, but most likely, having seen everything and everyone he loved destroyed, vaped and outright slaughtered, would have ended up with him making a choice. Tho join them in death, taking his own life, or to continue living for those he loved that cant live any longer.. Death is the easiest..
