The .bik files come from retail copy so unless the day 1 patch unlocks another ending? This would be the first time in a video game.

That'd have to be a pretty big patch, all things considered. The game's already been datamined, so the patch would have to include the satisfaction conditions, voice acting, text, associated videos...et cetera. You're talking a few hundred megabytes, bare minimum. I know PSN is pretty laid back when it comes to game patching, and PC? pfft, but Microsoft is pretty freakin' stringent on how big patches can be and how many free content releases each game can have. Unless Bioware/EA ends up doing something like openly shafting 360 owners, which I very strongly doubt they'd do, what you see is pretty much what you're going to get sparing later paid-DLC releases.

Wait, I read (earlier in this thread) that Xio confirmed that the destruction of the relays does not destroy eezo (and as such FTL) technology. This cuts off clusters from the wider galaxy, but this doesn't doom everyone. We don't have a complete map and knowledge of the Local Cluster in the Mass Effect galaxy. It's possible that the dietary needs of quarians and turians can be met in a nearby system that is only a few days away.

As well, if the Normandy is thrust through a wormhole, that opens up new things. Depending on who you talk to, wormholes bend or fold space. This could open up a new form of space travel that replaces relays altogether.

On a completely unrelated subject, I hear BioWare also decided to put some big ring in the Egyptian desert, and needed Richard Dean Anderson to come in for a new character. He was quickly followed by Joe flanigan.

Huzzah! Crossbreeding story-lines!

Meh. You got the game for free.

If the conspiracy theorists are to be believed, then you only got "half" of the endings, all of which paint a dark and grim ending instead of the "full experience" just because the company wanted to spite potential pirates and NDA breakers rather than actually reward you.

Well, since I know (and we have seen here) that people wipe their backsides with NDAs it's what I'd do with the game.

Again, it really comes down to which is more believable:

The fact that BioWare/EA/whomever decided "Hey, let's release an incomplete product that, if leaked, will surely ****** people off, but that's okay because we'll have taught people that piracy is wrong!" or the fact that they just wrote a poor script, "marketed" (read: lied through their teeth) it, and probably didn't expect this level of backlash prior to launch.

Again, what possible purpose does it serve to generate negative pre-release buzz over positive buzz? It only stands to hurt them. If piracy is, as you suggest, inevitable, why wouldn't they acknowledge this as a fact and make sure that, when it did got leaked, people spoke highly about it? That it included at least one happy ending, or more than Zaeed-esque dialogue? Why would they reward contest "winners" with a crappy version of the product? At what stage does teaching a few individuals a lesson about piracy trump actually successfully marketing a product?

Again, I'm just saying it's what I'd do/

Especially given the fact that I'd know no one would give a rip about the NDA they signed.

There'd be no pre-release **negative** buzz like this had these people kept their word.

Keeping that in mind, I'd totally hose them that way.

I'm not saying at all that BW did that. But it would be completely hillarious.

Also, do you really expect those who loved the first 2 games that say the canceled pre-order to not play/buy it in the future?

Let's say that does happen, and these people DON'T sell their ME1 & ME2 copies. What do they do? Just keep starting over without an end? I would call BS on that one.

What about waiting one year until you get it for a maximum of 10€? That's what some of my friends will do...

You have some fair points. And I do recognize how unlikely this scenario is, but I'd prefer to keep all options on the table.

And are we all forgeting Casey Hudson's own comments that there are "literally hundreds" of different possible endings? We've seen, what? 6? Link 94 more videos, and I will start to take options off the table.

Yes, some have already cancelled (hell, some were forced to cancel due to GAME, and this news just makes them not want to pick it up again), while others, like myself, plan to buy it and simply avoid recommending it to people. I've basically accepted that this is how the series as I know it will end. And, yes, I think people might even go so far as to play the first 2 and be satisfied, maybe even write their own endings.

I also don't see a day one patch that will implement "literally hundreds" of video files and content to a game that people already own via the space edition. I'm sorry, but there's keeping options open and just plain old wishful thinking.

Then let's do the math ourselves. How many decision could effect the outcome of ME3 from the first game?

You know, none of these characters are returning to a BioWare game ever again. What's so wrong with them getting stranded?

That's not true, you'll get to kill them and steal their pants in the MMO.

No! No talk of an MMO! I will really hate it if they do another TOR stunt

I mentioned it earlier, but if everything is at it stands and plays out as predicted, it will truly be an excellent case study in what NOT to do to a franchise / fanbase, as well as other fascinating elements of the human mind (rationalization, denial, etc). People will hopefully look back and learn from this in future development projects.

I've accepted what will happen as what will happen; no amount of complaining I do will get them to put in the ending I wanted because, in the end, despite my choices, it's still their story and universe.

What happens next, though, from sales to PR backlash..that will be the truly "entertaining" and informative stuff to watch.

You know what really blows my mind about Bioware's writing? If it wasn't for the fact that they take themselves soooooo seriously, I'd actually think they were brilliant parodists.

well all i can say is as a mass effect fan and i truely do mean this that maybe depending how people react to the game bioware shouldnt listen to its fans then.

and i say this because no matter what the rest of the fanbase demands theyare never happy.

and no im not trying to cause a issue im just stating the oviouse because bioware dosent have to listen to us at all and yet they do wich is nice and shouldnt be taken advantage of.

from all the leaks i saw im going to enjoy the game regardless and remain a mass effect fan im not mad at the devs im furiouse at the fans

Nah, if Bioware took that long on making a game something good would come out of it.

To answer my earlier question, as I have gotten tired of waiting for someone else to, lol......

I see 5 decisions from ME1 that can effect the main outcome in a big way of ME3. Those combos give you at least 10 different endings right there. And they are just the blatantly obvious ones.
ME2- Uhh, let me think for a few minutes......

Yeah it's the fans' fault the games got progressively worse.

All of that negative energy turned Bioware into lazy hacks.

What do YOU care what we ask for? It doesn't effect you in any way what so ever. YOU chose to come here and do your own ****ing - yet YOU don't have the decency to let others do the same.
