Will a little child deliver the cupcakes?

"Here, some cupckaes for you."
"Um...okay. Thanks. What's the reason for this?"
"The cupcakes are the solution. My solution."
"Solution? For what?"
"The chaos."

Now see thats a writer I can respect - you don't have to everything that the fans ask but they can also give very interesting perspective  on the themes of the series... sometimes more than what the  creator themselves see... I only caught the tales ends of the Babalyon 5 but what I did catch was very good.

He wasn't all that well recieved when he wrote Spiderman for Marvel comics (the comic, not the films), but I suspect that might have been due to the nature of comics and being unable to work in a long running arc. He certainly isn't regarded well for diolog, which even as a fan can make me wince when I hear it, and some of the stand alone episodes were...well even Star Trek Voyager wouldn't have run with those stories.

The main reasons B5 held together was that JMS did a LOT of work, figuring out the entire story, the background to his universe, the physics* and then even worked out alterations in the plot should any of the actors leave at any point**. This was coupled with a cast that got on well - as I noted above it is very clear they enjoyed working together - and a work ethic that resulted in them never once going over time. In the words of the cast 'If you were told you would be on set from 9-5, you knew you'd be on your way home by 5;30'.

Now that, Bioware, is how you make a good series - a lot of hard work before you even start development.

Season one starts off slowly, and isn't all that great as most of the 'bad' episodes of the series seem to be contained in the first half of season 1. Seasons 2-4 are wonderful from start to finish, with the odd 'glitch' along the way - mainly in season 2. Season 5 starts off as..OK, but somewhat lacking in direction (a side effect of the series having almost been cancelled at the end of season 4, which meant a lot of loose ends ended up being dealt with in that season rather than carried over). Things pick up towards the end of season 5, and finish with the best single ending of any TV show I've seen.

(*Not only did they get advice from NASA but NASA called up and asked if they could use the design of the 'Star Fury' fighter as the basis for a EV 'suit'. Turns out that after looking at hundreds of possible designs the best one came from B5. Someone else, with FAR too much time on their hands, even worked out how large the B5 station was and the speed of its rotation...and figured out that (by accident) the speed the station rotated would indeed have produced the equivelant of Earth's gravity).

(**There was a lot of talk at the time about where things were going, and what plans JMS had for the series even with the production staff. JMS revealed after the show was finished that the entire outline for the series from start to finish had been written down in a ring binder, and been sitting on his desk for 5 years. Anyone could have walked in and read the plans at any point...but no one ever did.)

And now to return to the topic at hand. Sorry for the digress, although it is interesting to compare how B5 and ME compare storywise....

I had to laugh at that one poster's comment about how mature, intelligent people enjoy the ending.. And then proceeded to call those who didn't entitled, whiny brats in the same paragraph. Yes, real mature right there. Lol.

Not to mention his comment that a "vast majority" of players asked for their money back. Uh-huh. A few jerks did out of thousands. Vast majority, my tookus. Wonder where he pulled that "fact" from.

And yet...out of the 3 comments over at the Forbes' cupcake article, one is from another misinformed (and rather rude I might add) hater

*sighs*

Why do ppl insist on making us out to be the bad guys? This is ridiculous.

You don't think Bioware will complain about the cupcakes and we'll have to defend their artistic integrity do you?

Forbes are really getting in on this one, I now have 9 links on the list and all related to ME3, though I was a little surprized the editor let the term "corporate overlords" slip through.

Because they don't take the time to learn all of the facts or simply don't care because they think their own opinion is correct. It's just narrow-mindedness. It's a sad state of affairs though, especially since most of us have acknowledged and accepted that their opinion is as equally valid as ours.

True but when dealing with big corporate sometimes that's exactly what it feels like.

I think making an official announcement at PAX is a brilliant idea. There is no better time. I think they've already made the decision. I'm looking forward to hearing what Bioware will do at PAX

I think an official announcement at PAX is the only recourse they have left atm. Pax, for alot of the fans is a "make it or break it" deal. Alot of the people I've spoken to say that their holding onto their games until Pax. If Bioware talks at Pax and says what we want to hear, they'll hold onto their copies. If they don't say anything or just say they'll clarify some things then they're selling their copies the next day.

Now here is an idea;

Everyone going to PAX should take their Copy(s) of ME3 along with them. If they Bioware says nothing, or tries to 'clarrify' the ending, they could dump all of their copies in a big bag in front of the press and BW. Then take the bag to the nearest games store, trade them in and donate the money raised to charity. Maybe couple that with a silent walk out, with someone standing by the door with the bag for them to drop their copies into....

Quick question on the Forbes article - is there a particular significance to sending 402 cupcakes? Is that the number of employees or is it just a random number?
