As much as I believe Dr. Muzyka when he is says that Bioware is "genuinely surprised by fans reaction" I think they are actually surpised by scale of this reaction, not the reaction itself.

No one is able to convince me that it was over Bioware CEOs' heads to predict fans outcry.

That of course leads me into believing that this scheme is planned (although not so sophisticated) PR and marketing thing. It is often said that it does matter what people say about you, as long as they keep talking about you.

I think I read somewhere in the devs notes something about expect discussions and such stuff, can't remember clearly.

The part with the "it does matter what people say about you, as long as they keep talking about you." is so true, even my grandmom said that (not about Bioware or EA though, lol)
They expected a reaction, but not the the scale (like you said), but I slowly get the feeling they don't seem to care enough as I hoped and expected. Sure, they're a company and their goal is to make money after all, but .......... EA does play a major role, still, and blatantly said, I don't like it, I never did.

this is really worth a read.
and to quote "
If you create something, and your readers hope that what you just gave them was, in reality, an “it was a dream all along” ending, because that would be better than what you wrote, you seriously. ****ed. up."
it nearly had me crying and laughing at the same time.

Thanks for sharing - this is a GREAT read and very funnily written to boot.  He has some killer quotes in here.

(Though, thankfully, all the dialogue options with Legolas are the same.) ~' a true LOL moment..

Essential read for everyone...

If Bioware team read this article and still think asking a better ending is wrong I can only say that they do not want to understand and stick their head in the sand.

I keep seeing these sites saying "They aren't changing the endings, just elaborating on them"

That's not enough. It's not enough at all. Elaborating on the details of a train wreck isn't going to stop the train from derailing and killing everyone in the first place.

Saw this and had a thought.

Shepard opened his eyes, the pain was gone... along with the Citadel.  He was lost in a thick white fog, no sound other than his own breath.  The last thing he could remember was green, and the face of that overly smug star child.   The fog began to shift before his tired, confused eyes.  He could make out tables, stools and...  A BAR!  Sitting at the end with his back to the now elated spectre was a very Turian profile.  As he got closer however the smile slipped from his face, a scowl replacing it.  There were tubes snaking across the back of the Turian's head, an unnatural glow was coming from underneath the heavy armour.  "I was wondering how long it would take you to get here human" growled an all to familiar voice.  "Saren" spat Shepard.  "Expecting someone else?  Your little C-Sec sidekick perhaps? "  Shepard reached for his pistol and found only air, he struck out with his fist but again hit nothing.  "Come now Shepard it that any way a fellow Spectre?  To think that I planned on buying you a drink too..."  Shepard paused.  "Say what?"  An unpleasant smirk had found its way to Sarens already distorted features.  "Do you remember on Virmire Shepard?  What I told you?  The fusion of synthetic and organic, the bonding of steel and flesh?  You achieved in a matter of minutes what I worked years to realise, and single handedly killed more people in one go than I in my entire career!  Bravo Commander!  Bravo!"  Shepard looked away, the words cutting deeper than any blade ever could.  "Get lost Saren, there was only one butt ugly Turian I wanted to see here and it wasn't you."  Defying any and all laws of nature, the smirk on Sarens face got worse.  "Ah yes, your loyal friend.  Your faithful companion, your 'bro'."  The last word found itself between a pair of waggling Turian fingers in a gesture that a certain councilor was so fond of  using.  "What are you getting at Saren?"  demanded the confused and increasingly angry Spectre.  "It would seem that your old friend wont be joining us here anytime soon.  He seems really very busy right now comforting a certain Quarian girl amid the ruins of your old ship..."  A vision apeared before him, an unfamiliar jungle world with a more than familiar vessel hidden amid the trees.  The vision changed again, through the bulkheads to the cabin once called the loft, two figures sat in the dark in an all too intimate embrace.  A pair of hands usually engaged with callibrations getting a bit too familiar...  As the image faded, as the strange ereatheral bar too faded...  As Sarens laughter rung in his ears, Shepard fell to his knees and howled with equal parts dispair and rage "CURSE YOU BIOWARE!!!  CURSE YOU.......!!!

Holding the line, until Bioware decides to hang me with it...
Apologies for the wall of text.

I don't think they can stop caring right now. After everything that happened they cannot afford it.

IF my theory has a bit truth in it, then they just follow carefully developed PR strategy, but they should end it in our favour in order not to loose the backbone - us, hardcore fans.

They can't make money by alienating their customers and destroying customer loyalty. In business world new fans are not enough for steady business and income. You can't dare to lose your established customer base. So if they don't care people like me will find another company to buy games and Bioware/EA will lose profit. It is their choice.

sory but with conrad, tought loughw as needed.

With the exo geni manager, I had to be an ass and stick a pole up my ass to save the colonists, after all they only care about money.

With Tali's and Legion debate, had to be renegade. Tired of their stupid war.

Had to punch Admiral Gerrel. hell I was hoping I could use a biotic grab on his face mask and crack it against the war room holo projector. Make him sick, and then tell him to fudge off.

had to make the renegade interrupt for kai leng. HE KILLED THANE!!!.

had to treat the dalatress like a bich!. with renegade interrupt and everything.

... lol fyi

I just played through sur kesh again...  I sitll find it funny:

ShepardL "release the female krogan we need to leave"

Technician: " sorry commander but protocol dictates we must.... " (gets tazzzzzzzzzzed)

Mordin: "noted... now please release krogan"

If that is not the most well deserving renegade action along aside, stabbing kai leng, and punching Admiral Gereel... then I must be crazy.

They failed on that exacution though - one of
the biggest reasons; Ipad app - that app should of been on all
platforms; not just Ipad - they had several things you could do on it.  Messages from LI after the game ended which hints your alive and in the hospital.
Almost no one saw them though.  PR did what they could through Twitter -
but honestly that app could of been used for so much more PR - more
hints - it would of been able to somewhat hold back the tide.

If I read it correctly and this is true - and I have no reason to belive otherwise - then maybe Bioware has this thing planned from the beginning.

Later, while driving the car, I started thnking about how strange Bioware's behaviour is. I mean, what's the point in keeping their lips tight.

If things were clear they would say - no there will not be any ending DLC, or yes-expect something good soon.

It does make sense to a point - When Casey said he wanted to polarise the fans on the ending.  That's what they were expecting - they were expecting some to be upset with the cliffhanger.......

All the while they had the full ending dlc either being finalized or was almost finished but needed more time to polish it.  Rumors have been their from the beginning about ending dlc........yea from 4chan - but same 4chain that gave us the rumors about me2 dlc that was completely on the money.......

I always felt - BW was trying this - but it completely back fired on them.  Can they admit it now?  Forbes says no because how far its gone.....

If they came out and said; guys there the ending dlc is coming - we tried to hint about it and pull you farther than ever before - in a way we did; and many ways we failed.  We want our fans to know we do care; that's why we're saying this......

They did that - Most would completely understand - second a lot of respect would be regained; third I think would have a good laugh about it.......

We'll know in 9ish days.....

I'm beginning to be less angry by the butchered endings, and more angry by Bioware "silent running" strategy and the lack of depth in the game (real or implied by possibly removed content).

I ran through ME3 in about 1-2 weeks of play and stopped at TIMs. The whole thing was more movie-ish and felt rather hollow. In contrast; I am almost done the main Kingdoms of Amalur game (160 hours) and will start on the first DLC soon (another 10 hours or so). The Amalur main game and DLC cost me the same as the ME3 Collector's Edition.
