An article about famous game writers adding to he "controversy". I like some of the opinions in it, but I'm really worried about Mr. Jesse Schell's opinion. I'm worried he is right.

I really doubt, even if they issued the worst statement ever like "haha fanz sux2bu" that anyone would actually do something criminal lol.  We've managed to avoid flaming a forum, and it takes a lot less to do that then it does to go completely off the reservation and stupid extreme.

I see zero evidence that the claim is true in any shape or form. Unless you can provide conclusive evidence that the person making the claims is who and what they say they are assume that it is fake.

The figures posted about EA's finances come from EA's own offical annual report. Anyone can read these reports online;

You've all got to read this comment in response to the New Yorker article:

"As a former member of the mainstream game industry who has since made the jump to academia, I take strong exception to the implication that being pretentious and disconnected from the fanbase is a valid approach to game-making. Well over a hundred of my students are currently working in the industry, several of them at Bioware, and I'm looking forward to talking to them at conferences this year about why *they* think their studio forgot the single most important rule of successful game development: know and respect your players, because you're building their game, not yours.

"Studios live and die by their reputation among their fans, and in this case, Bioware's hamfisted attempt at an "arty" ending (or perhaps their rushed hack job to meet a marketing-driven publisher's deadline) has alienated their core demographic and in so doing could well cost them tens of millions now in the future. Fortunately, Bioware's leadership has been intelligent enough to ignore snobs like Mr. Clark and taken the entirely reasonable step of declaring their intent to revise their ending to meet the expectations of their fans. I applaud their decision, and their respect for those that regularly shell out $60-80 a pop on their games."
