Another good article about the end and everything: http://doycetesterma...rtistic-process

Wow that was a great article. Even thought the post after that one about someone's comment to his story that you linked was good as well. Why is it that only blog posters and not big outlets are on our side. *sadness*

"And there'll be lots of speculation for everyone." "But the artistic integrityyyyyy."

Hahahaha, oh god. I love this so much.

Yea, those were some of my favorite parts :D

Antoher review. Pretty much what everybody thinks, but a little "spicier".

I don't agree with everything on the article. But most of it is true. It's a look at the biggest question: "How does the ending matches with the previous games' established story?".

Exaggerated at times, but funny and spot on at others.

You've all got to read this comment in response to the New Yorker article:

"As a former member of the mainstream game industry who has since made the jump to academia, I take strong exception to the implication that being pretentious and disconnected from the fanbase is a valid approach to game-making. Well over a hundred of my students are currently working in the industry, several of them at Bioware, and I'm looking forward to talking to them at conferences this year about why *they* think their studio forgot the single most important rule of successful game development: know and respect your players, because you're building their game, not yours.

"Studios live and die by their reputation among their fans, and in this case, Bioware's hamfisted attempt at an "arty" ending (or perhaps their rushed hack job to meet a marketing-driven publisher's deadline) has alienated their core demographic and in so doing could well cost them tens of millions now in the future. Fortunately, Bioware's leadership has been intelligent enough to ignore snobs like Mr. Clark and taken the entirely reasonable step of declaring their intent to revise their ending to meet the expectations of their fans. I applaud their decision, and their respect for those that regularly shell out $60-80 a pop on their games."

I can't find any evidence of any new PC patches for ME2.

Out of mild interest, I just accidently booted up ME2 (mainly to see if the configation bug was still there) and am I the only one who thought the cut-scenes looked better than in ME3?

This is for 360, it's a bit different import process on there than the PC version... no idea though, just going off what the OP said.

If you're doing it on PC it's more than likely the anti-aliasing/rendering settings.  Make sure you've got your settings cranked up since it's all in-game engine rendered scenes.  It could be that your video card works better with the ME2 implementation of the 3D Engine than the ME3 one.  I had that on one of my old games, the older game looked better because the newer one had a newer version of OpenGL... make sure your video drivers are up to date.

If you're on 360... it could be related to that film grain thing they did on ME1/2.  It's not in 3 because they have higher def textures now.. could be the dreaded HD is too detailed problem haha.

What I meant was that patches usually come out for the PC version first - since they only have to be cleared by Bioware rather than Sony and Microsoft. (This I know rather well after seeing the fury of console players when PC owners of DA2 got their patch two weeks before they did).

I have something of a problem with the graphics driver, the newest driver causes some very strange glitches with the original Mass Effect. So if I want to play ME I have to use a slightly older driver. That said I seem to recall that the configation system on ME2 tended to underestimate the capabilities of my PC somewhat...come to think of it I think this is something that has happened with every Bioware game I've owned.

I turn off the film grain...at least in ME2. I can't remember if I kept it on in ME or not...I *think* I may have disabled it. I know I did in ME2 as for some reason it was annoying me.

Checking in for the cause - just wanted to add some feedback I've received from 'real life' friends over the past few days.

I want to stress I wasn't asking anyone to form opinions, I just gave mine since finishing the game when asked, since a lot of people knew I took a week off work to play the game on release. I told them to play it and form their own opinions, not giving anything away - just saying how disappointed I was. Seems that final statement of mine carried a lot more weight than I thought or intended. (hmmm... ironic?)

*1* Matt told me they saw a review about the game recently that gave ME3 5 out of 5 Stars - he stated he laughed at that, after hearing first hand my impression. He won't be playing/buying and made it a point to share that with me.

*2* Walt has numerous characters to import and didn't follow the series enough to know about the release date of ME3 until I mentioned it. He was excited & we talked about the game (pre-Me3 release) He's not one to rush out & preorder but one who would buy the game & play it...with all his imported characters. After hearing about my disappointment he said he won't be buying it. *not what I wanted - I was looking forward to his reaction to the endings*

*3* Jeff inquired about the game, thinking about trying it out. I told him, as a newcomer to ME he would probably like the game. But he still knew how disheartened I felt post-game.......he won't be buying the game.

I could go on....but the weird thing is, It bothers ME that I had a hand in changing these peoples opinions of a game. Especially when I didn't trash the game, told them how great it was until the end and just expressed my disappointment in how it concluded.

I've given opinions before to people about games, but I guess the difference is:
1. people knew how much this game meant to me, and they are changing their opinion of it based solely on MY opinion.
2. I don't WANT people to NOT buy this game because of how I feel (I feel guilty dammit!)
3. I never heard so many people 'not' buy a game because of what I said! (which probably goes back to #1)

Again, I have never said anything 'bad' about the game, just how disappointed I was. Kinda makes me wonder the impact it's having on friends of friends of friends who flat out bash the game or have a lot more gaming/Mass Effect real-life friends than I do. :/

The ending is just terrible as well astablished on this forum and the internet. Bioware can't use the phrase "It's the Journey that matters" while that may be true the ending matters just as much if not more.

The thread of ending complaint banners I put up a few days ago got locked in this section for having "nothing to do with what this forum was meant for: ME3 story and campaign discussion" (despite being a resource for people to use to show their discontent with the ending). So, I moved it over to Mass Effect 3 Character and Romance Discussion (because characters are featured prominantly). With my luck, they'll probably lock it there too with the same logic because it's complaining about the story. I had to make a new one because some of the tinypic image hotlinks were dying and I couldn't edit the old post to fix them. Hopefully the new host will be a bit more stable.

Just signing on for the day, anything since last night? It was killing me not getting on here but I had an essay and a speech to wright, so I had some other stuff to do.

PS am I the only person on here that has to ration their time on the forum just so they can get anything done. I try to limit myself to an hour per day.

Yeah. I remember the DA2 anger for the patches haha.   I was just saying I don't know if they need one for the PC in this case.  It might just be an ME2 thing on the consoles due to the permissions or something weird.

I hate finding the sweet spot drivers on some systems.. My old computer I'd have one config for one game, and then I was stuck playing that game til I was done it because all my other games required a different driver haha.

I usually crank my games to the max, when I stop being able to do that I whine about it till I break down and buy a new machine that I can crank up again hahaha.  Image IPB

lol, nice gif.

It's always the same thing. They think all we want is a "happy" ending, and that all of us filed complaints with the FTC (even non Americans, lol). It would be nice if they educated themselves, instead of spewing talking points.

That was hilarious, which felt good. Like shooting Udina good. Not too mention, still a better ending to ME3 even though it's a parody. Having a chat with Harbinger like that would be amusing in game.

Checkin in. I'm not pleased with the endings either and hope we get some closure to this,
