PS it has been fun watching this thread develop. I remember when the child's play drive was first put up about five people said that we shouldn't talk about that because it would get the thread locked. Shows what they knew back then. We may not be done yet but I'm proud to have held this line with everyone.
I agree, and also remember how people were reacting initially in the first few hundred pages of the thread before the game came out. I was tempted to search for spoilers on the web, and I'm glad that this thread caught my eye when it did. Having been prepared for the ending(s), I since then decided to speak my mind, and was glad for all of the insight, opinions, and support that the people here have for each other. As a former lurker, I'm find myself surprised that now I'm posting and watching this thread everyday since the game came out. To that, I'm proud to be part of the group, and will hold the line for as long as it takes.

Sir isn't that overkill?! We have no idea what they might do to the synthetics in the galaxy... we could destroy all technology, even the relays themselves!
Arm. The. Torpedoes.. Fire!

I am hoping it's a good sign. I mean, I think that they know by now how much we hate this ending. And I also think that they have an idea of how we will react to the ending...

I live in Australia. Australians take their sports seriously. We're not alone, I know. Abusing refs over calls? Riots over game results? Hold on to those thoughts.
A sports fan may cover themselves in merchandise, or wear their colours with pride. They may pay to watch a game, or they may watch the whole thing on telly. They may throw money on the results of a match, brag about their team's successes to their friends. People become passionate and personally involved. And there's a certain esteem held for that kind of loyalty.
When you pare it all down, sports fans are people who enjoy watching people play a game. These people are respected because the players of the game are respected. There's no sense of shame, of whininess or entitlement or childishness in loyalty to a game, a team, a player, even without any financial investment in the result.
How about that ending argument? Let's sound that out.
There's no clear parallel here, obviously. But let's suppose a sportsman plays a bad game. Fumbles the last ten minutes, loses himself the match. The fans are upset -- even if it's apparently wrong to want to win in Mass Effect, the same is not true of sport. They freely express their disappointment and their criticism. "He messed up with those drop shots. He should have stayed behind the baseline." Commentators take their shots. (The commentators for the Australian Open? They're brutal.)
If he has any game, the sportsman will own up to his mistakes. "I know that wasn't the best game I could have played. I'll have to learn from this and do better next time." Some will even say that they've let down their fans -- fans who don't necessarily even pay the players' bills with their money. He could very well say, "Shut up. The game is finished, enjoy it for what it was", or "Don't tell me how to play. It's my game." But he won't, because money speaks and he has sponsors to keep happy, and the sponsors and the sportsman and the fans have a common wish -- success.
No-one calls anyone in that equation "entitled".
For the sportsman, it's true that what's done is done. The same can't be said of game development. There's a game still sitting out there than can be fixed.
The point of this post isn't to disparage the way fans of a sports game are regarded. It's to question why the fans -- consumers -- of a video game are automatically hit with the other end of the stick.
At the end of the day, I can turn off my computer and understand perfectly well where the boundaries of the game's universe end, the same way that a sports fan exits the stadium and doesn't treat the drive home as a football game. Sure, a love of the lore may creep into my life and influence what I do, but this is no different to the love of a good movie or a book. And childish? Think about it and tell me: which method of expressing dissatisfaction is more childish -- donating to a charity, or throwing a beer bottle at a player? Sending cupcakes to a company, or breaking a shop window?

I've been MIA recently due to life catching up but I'm still gung-ho for the cause.
I've been shadowing for quite some time now but I've missed these last couple of days.
If there is any important things that have happened these last few days, can someone please fill me in? Thanks, as I would appreciate it.

So here I am on the line with an urge of all things to multiplay Me3 but I know I shouldn't and I won't. Given it would give bioware one more number on how many people are playing. It's a damn shame we're in a mess as the co op has been some of the most enjoyable I had since L4d and L4D2. Anyhow holding the line and twitching. Anyone feel the same way I do about multi?
Nah go for it! I played Operation Fortress this weekend. I'm waiting on the updates...far as I'm concerned the RetakeME3 movement succeeded. If they reverse their decision later that's their own fault and brand suicide lol, I guarantee they won't do that.
