(what do we have for the me3 third sales week?).
The figures for third week sales have not yet been released,
I wonder if the ending will affect the sales. I know it'll affect the DLC sales, Why add extra missions to a game (Overlord style) that are not going to make a difference when everyone dies at the end.
As I've noted elsewhere in this thread, games show a consistant pattern of sales.
The first two weeks of sales seem to be from people who were always intending to get the game - the first week sales are typically from the most devoted players and pre-orders. Then games typically show a sharp drop of between 70-80% in the second week as the last of those people who were intending to get the game manage to get to the shops (or the money) and buy.
Now from the third week onwards the sales do one of two things. They either raise slightly/remain fairly stable or they continue dropping like a stone. This appears to be purely down to word of mouth spreading about a title. For example DA:O's sales figures from week 3 onwards show increasing sales - in fact I think the week 5 sales figures were higher than for week 2's - and these figures remained stable for something like 6 weeks. DA2 however showed high first and second week sales, then the sales continued dropping - DA:O, which wasn't marketed anything like as heavily as DA2, was outselling it from the third week onwards. (Total sales on the X-Box were 2.26 million copies of DA:O...and 0.9 million for DA2)
Basically a game that is badly recieved by gamers will not sell well after the second week as word of mouth spreads...And the current ending of ME3 is not resulting in good word of mouth.
