I had the same feelings as most of being unable to pick up the controller, for more than a week. When I finally did pick up the controller again, I'll be honest, I've been mostly playing MP. Mass Effect is the series I just keep coming back to. It's the first series I picked up when I got back into gaming, and I don't want to play anything else.

But I can't play SP for a very long duration. I'll play it here and there, but mostly just trying to have fun in MP.

This week, though, I finally downloaded the soundtrack that came with the CE. And man, listening to it, there are those songs that just tear at the heartstrings. The leaving Earth is particularly powerful and a reminder of the power this game has on you.

The game and story were so good. So good. The ending.. sigh.

I think that's why this is so hard for everyone. I am constantly thinking about Mass Effect. This is probably the first game to really suck you into its universe and really make you love the characters. Bioware made them all come alive for you. I know I've said it before but when my Shep reunited with Kaidan, I was happy because she seemed happy again. The scene of leaving earth was heartwrenching - hearing the music still makes me sad! The game is brilliant, emotionally gripping and then....... *benny hill music*

Same loss of interest in booting up anything on the PC here.

I thought I was over it yesterday, then this morning I decided to boot up ME2 to finish a play though.

First loading screen 'Import your Shepard to ME3, if you survive'...I think the crew of the ISS could hear the screams....

I just talked to friends and my co workers about the ending debacle... 2 friends won´t buy Mass Effect 3 now (at least one of them thinks about buying ME1, as he doesn´t know the games yet but liked the ME3 demo... when he has finished ME1 amd2, there hopefully will be a patch / DLC which fixes the endings.

My co workers (computer store) don´t play ME themselves, but they understand me at least... and in the meantime  I managed to mention ME only once per day :innocent:

I don´t speak with my parents about gaming at all, both of them don´t understand it... my father thinks about everything which is for fun/ hobby / leisure and costs money, that it´s useless, and my mother recently told me I should stop buying "crap like computer games" in the future... I just answered: "Ok, if you stop playing tennis and dad stops bicycling and the both of you stop buying equipment for this.... It´s my god damn hobby, I won´t stop!"

EDIT: I forgot to ask.... is "Mission Cupcake" already completed or still an active quest?

Yes, it does. My God, that trailer pumped me up SO MUCH. I even reposted it on my Facebook timeline. It makes me sad looking back. I was jittery with excitement and anticipation. And I'm 37

The only sentence that comes to my mind is "Wasted potential".

For me it's just "Why."

Didn't BW also warned us that not everyone will like the ending... Which was the understatement of the year.  Yeah, they knew they had a problem but not a single clue in how big.

This. Yes. And I keep coming back to both the amazing voice actors, and what had to be great scripts for the characters.

I was one of those 'Heck with Ash, I'm romancing someone else' people (I also crush on Yvonne... another story :)) until Kimberly Brooks recorded the Horizon letter. And that made me go back and replay ME1 and 2 to change how ME3 would be for me.

The scenes because of that were so rewarding. I very much enjoyed Ashley in ME3. I love love love Garrus, and Liara, and the incredible friendships that were scripted and written and acted. The march to London was gut punch after gut punch saying good bye. This game did this for fans. And then... bleh.

Haha, my parents are fine. Most of my friends don't get it (they also don't know I play games), but my closest friends kind of understand it. My parents are fine with it; my dad likes to play his FIFA and Resident Evil games and my mom loves Mario and Sonic. She also plays Guitar Hero with me, but they don't play ME (probably because it's in English and they don't speak English)

The cupcakes are going to be delivered on the 30th :)

Or possibly they just hadn't finished working on it at that point.

Consider that we know from material BW allowed to be released that they had to remove some material related to the ending because they were having problems getting it to work in the time they had left. It is not inconceivable that the ending we got was only finished at the very last minute, after they'd sent out review copies.

ok threadwide question.
for talking sake say bioware did remake the entire ending and put it up for free or what not.

now what if bioware asked us what else we would like for free as a form of a fanbase apoligy WHAT WOULD IT BE ?

i'm talking about in game items and so on and be sensable.

me, i would want the following

Battlefield 3 Pack

Collector Assault Rifle

multiplayer items

M-90 Indra

AT-12 Raider

Collector Assault Rifle

for single player

throw on top for a 1 time only of 100% extra XP for ONE WEEKEND for multiplayer

now these are just off the top of my head but theres two more things i would want,
i would rather have a pet verren than a frigging robot dog
also i know that N7 armour is in final fantasy...how about having final fantasy armour in mass effect 3.

i could think of so many things right now but i dont want to be epic greedy, i just want to be fair :D

I'm starting to think this will be a no win situation for everyone. The more i think about the game and Bioware's reaction the more i think wtf?

Hold the line.

I disagree. Alot of fans want new endings, many willing to pay for it, many not. Some don't want a "new ending" DLC just by itself and many don't want new endings at all. Best way forward (for BioWare) would be to cater to all of us.

BioWare should release a DLC they had planned (Take Back Omega, for example) with 2 versions. One with new endings stuff, one without. The one with new ending stuff has the Omega mission (obviously) as well as adds new ending cutscenes that fills in the gaps and adds flags to the EMS where at certain levels the cutscene changes. Specific War Assets also come into play, where if they aren't rescued/recruited bad things happen. Example: If Jack's students are chosen to play artillery they are saved by Elcor warriors. If the Elcor warriors aren't saved, half of Jack's students get killed before Geth troops or Quarian marines come save them. If EMS is low, however, only Jack survives. Also, high EMS means Relays don't have all their energy drawn from them by the Crucible, so they don't explode and the Normandy doesn't crash. Medium level of EMS means the Crucible draws enough energy from the Relays to damage them (they are still useable, just erratic) and the Normandy crashes on Earth (in South America or something). Low EMS and we get what we have now. However, other flags affect the major things (Relays, Normandy crash) I just don't have an idea what would work.

After that release a free DLC that is just the ending stuff. That way the money brought in from the Omega DLC also pays for the ending rework and everyone gets what they want: new endings for free, new endings with more content, more content without new endings, etc.

almost all reviewers get the game either 1 or 2 weeks before release which is roughly when there put into gold production which means its finished.

but all the review copies were the same and were seeing a lot of reviewers all saying the same thing,  and some got as far as the final confrontation with the illusive man and then it reloads back to the start.

remember EA has this affinity in sending out edited games so they get good reviews, hell for all we know the edited one is maybe the version we got by accident and was sent to the manufacturer.

who knows?!?!?!?!?

I just had a thought that if you transfer the Mass Effect series into movie form that I don't think Mass Effect 3 would of made it into theaters. In its current state or at least if it did it would have the same impact that the forgotten horror movie in January of this year had, in which it had a big first year and nothing afterwards because of marketing.

I had this thought because a movie I watched on Netflix a while back Vanishing on 7th Street (never went to theaters) was pretty decent up until the last 10 minutes. And I was thinking of then focus groups or preview showing or whatever they are called for movie making. In my mind I figure that most movies go to a preview state in which people get to see it and give feedback before a wide release. Some movies take the advice and I guess some maybe don't in which the director, writers, or producers get the feedback but think that maybe even if that group didn't like it that the larger audience would. So maybe games that have more of a story focus need to be previewed by an small outside audience to see if it plays right as far as a story is concerned.

Just throwing stuff out there.

Good evening everyone.

Just wanted to check in and say that I'm still holding the line with You, even though I do not write to much.

I just wanted to say that tonight I'm really hopeful about this whole ordeal Bioware funded us. I don't even know why, I just have a sort of gut feeling.

All things that occured don't add up. If You carefully think about:
1. Bioware's experience in developing games,
2. unnatural silence of Bioware's PR, CEOs, etc.,
3. complete, utter lack of primary logic in Bioware's behaviour,
4. lack of elementary logic in ME 3 endings,
You can come only to conclussions:
A. they've all lost their minds, which I do not believe,
B. it is planned from the very beginning and possibly - in spite of what we think - they didn't even loose control over it.

You know, if they ever get round to making that live action movie there's no way in hell the director would use the current ending to finish a trilogy. Maybe Bioware should of spoken to Ridley Scott before they started any work on Mass Effect 3's ending.

For all the stress they've given their customers? Humm.

I think a brilliant idea would be to release the 'From Ashes' DLC as a free download, with those who either bought it or got in in the CE edition being refunded the 800 Bioware points to their accounts. This would be a win-win all around I think, since those who have that DLC would still be able to get a 'free' DLC down the road (even if its not a ME3 DLC). The customers would be happy, Bioware would be able to put the whole 'Day one DLC' controversy behind them (forgot about that didn't you ;) ) and begin the process of repairing their shattered image. It also wouldn't really cost them that much money, since I doubt many people are buying the DLC right now anyway and a 'free' DLC to registered users could help raise sales...assuming of course that they give the game the ending it needs....
