EA has ultra high expectations for SWTOR so high that the costs did spiral out of control at one point.

bioware was really taking there time with it but EA shifted the release date forward..........A LOT FORWARD to a point where bioware pulled staff from other games in development to work on SWTOR.

because of EA's standards of practise (high pressure, no life outside of work) some staff suffered breakdowns, i also heard some staff were divorced because of EA's work ethic.

bioware was doing a great job in ME3 but i think they leaked the script themself so they could give themself a bit more time to work on ME3 a little longer, but i found out myself this week this was not the case.

SWTOR opened up to high numbers across the board and high sub's but due to the many many bugs and some of them were game breakingly bad they started to lose sub's and as of right now SWTOR is starting to hemorrhage money which might explane why none of the PR team can give anyone answers.

this is what happens when you give one game studio 3 HUGE projects to do at the same time.

SWTOR i think will be 100% free to play(free as in still getting mirco transactions) by the 3Q this year but then again it might fall flat on its ass amd die a slow painful death because of EA's customer support is so awful.

also linking forum accounts to origin is a bad mistake as well, you get a ban here then you have a 99% chance of NOT being able to play any of your games (the horror storys i have read are shocking)

but again SWTOR good idea.....BADLY implemented

I loved the story telling in TOR end game really needs some work; but then same thing was with WOW - will it be as big as wow no........

Its a good MMO - but it wasn't ready when it came out - EA made the same damn mistake with Warhammer - Warhammer had some amazing ideas - changed way MMOS are looked at with public missions, but again release too early......

EA got a lot of smart people working for them - problem is some of the higher ups are not gamers and businessmen - they are the ones running things into the ground and can't figure out why.

Same thing over at Activition - you can see some changes in Blizzard because of them - its sad but this is why this right now is important.....

well why i dont want to see it happen it would knock bioware off its hihg horse hmmmm, and its not like a new EA company wouldnt be able to make the game hmmmm

EA have shutdown a LOT of gamestudios for no reason other than bad sales, one they closed down was because they wanted the game developers Intilectual property,

remember Pandemic Studios the ppl behind Full Spectrum Warrior, Star Wars: Battlefront, Destroy All Humans!, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction and The Saboteur. shutdown for no reason.....really no reason at all

You can't really attribute EA's stock loss to ME3's ending. If they announce a new game and then its stock immediately drops then you can say it is attributable. For example, when the football league the XFL was announced way back in the 90s by the WWF, its stock immediately dropped 25%. (I'm a fan of stocks and financial data... not of professional wrestling) The entire Dow Jones and NASDAQ is down today. It may have as much to do with oil prices.

Their Q3 10-Q form basically is a press release for SWTOR (which is funny for a Quarterly report haha).  I think it was mentioned, usually as "The massively-multiplayer online game Star Wars: The Old Republic", nearly 20 times in just the 'risks' outlook for the Q4 lol.  It's most definitely their baby.  I think Mass Effect 3 might have been mentioned once, I didn't count... I definitely noticed the SWTOR stuff though.. Q4 for EA ends the 31st, I suspect we'll see stock drop if the subscription counts and revenues for SWTOR don't pan out, people will lay the blame on ME3, but honestly I suspect it'd more be SWTOR's subscriptions (Assuming it's bad at all.  It may improve with the 1.2 patch this month).

Of course the question the above poses is...how much is the controversy about ME3's ending affecting subscriptions to SWTOR? More than a few people have posted on here in the last two to three weeks indicating that they either had canceled their subscription or would not be renewing it. Added to this is that at least some of the comments about ME3 also note problems with SWTOR - or have links to other pieces on that game - and, well you have to wonder how much of a knock on effect it is having.

EA may or may not be all that bothered by ME3's performance - it is hard to tell because they are doing their best to stay out of things - but you can bet good money they are going to get bothered if SWTOR starts to be affected. Now clearly TOR is being affected by this, but it is unclear to what extent.

all agree if the DLC isn't the endings. Then people will not buy, It's that damn simple!

I will not get any DLC until the end is resolved, why do I want to play again knowing the outcomes never change, replayability went out the window when the credits began to roll.

I Agree with you i'm not going to waste any more money on BIoWare until they fix this issue.

I was really looking forward to playing ME 1 to 3 making different choice's just to see what different outcome i would of had. But what is the frakking point now?

Same here. Bioware won't be seeing a penny out of me unless they fix these endings.

I have been playing Multiplayer using the 2 free days of Gold that came with my game, however I haven't used any RL cash. All the packs I bought were bought with in game credits. I refuse to give them any of my money unless they give ME3 the endings it deserves.

Let's be careful when we name names.

But, nevertheless, there's some truth even in the generic proposition about big industry. They know that there are new "genius" being born everyday, and they are making new young companies, that make new exciting games, every year. They just need to capitalize on their names and drain it quickly. If it closes after a while, why would they bother? They just go for the next one. Is action gaming the present? Buy the new young hotshot company! They are getting old fast with the demands of quick money, fiscal year presentations, and hurried games? Let's find the new trend! Is it RPGs and MMO? Let's do it. But quickly, we must capitalize before the new cicle.

Hey, they can very well be a good metaphor for the Reapers. :)

And it's not just games. I'm talking of big industry generically. Remember the movie "The Wonders"? The producers need a hit, and they need to milk it fast and furiously. If you get tired and want some artistic integrity, they will just move on to the next big thing.

Music, movies, games. It's always the same story. I hope that's not the case here. But we've been seeing a lot of clues that BW may be getting exhausted. They fight or they die, that's the plan. :)

But delivering rushed content after rushed content won't fool fans forever. And when the big money decides to leave, will there be anything left? History says no...

Indeed.  I suspect that it probably got a bit more notice when people started putting ME3 into their SWTOR cancellation comments.  Add to that it being EA's quarterly flagship product with a TON of risk and, therefore, eyes on it, and you've definitely got people taking notice.

Irony was most people didn't even think of A affecting B bringing support from C for A in all of this... it was just a "Well Bioware, I'm not giving you ANY of my money now" haha.  Man this thing exploding in 3 different colours of crazy.  Image IPB

Well I did cancel my sub for SWTOR even tho I'm only 1 person but I remained polite and left the door open for me to renew my sub, but I'm more than willing never to touch another Bioware game again like I did with WOW which I left almost 2 yrs ago and haven't looked back.

Hello all!! I'm back to holding the line!
I agree completely, I won't be buying any DLC unless it fixes the ending we got. It's not fair to us, and certainly not fair to the whole story of ME!! So no, my money stays in my pocket until this is resolved... :bandit:

I just read in the Final Hours app that Tali was originally not even going to be a squadmate in ME3 even though you could romance her in ME2 *boggle*.

Really? He didn't give complete context but that's what it says. Weird.

lovely

Googled about it (google is my best friend) and it said that sales dropped because most of the games produced under EA were rushed and unfinished....deja vu, anyone?
