Almost everything in the scripts is happening!
Like? The game still has yet to be released.
So we can't get the ending we want after all?

Unit, I get the feeling you and I see eye to eye on this whole situation.
Not trying to come off as creepy, I just keep up on the many threads regarding the spoilers, and notice that you have the same attitude toward things.
Gotta agree with you and the poster who mentioned Hollywood. "Up" endings are much more pleasing to most than dark ones. Particularly when they wrap up a series which, to this point, has been relatively upbeat in tone. I realize that the war would come, and be devestating, but I didn't get a doom and gloom vibe from 1 or 2.
By now, I'm resigned to the endings. We can hope fore some sort of patch or DLC all day, but I plan to just enjoy the game as it is and not worry too much. I recommend the spoiler group for anyone who feels the same. The crowd over there is of a decidedly tamer sort than over here.
No offense intended to the moderates.
Glad to have a counterpart in this whole ordeal.
Damn, now *that* sounded creepy.

Yeah like Titanic was going to have an ending other
than "the ship sinks and 1,500 Irish die". Though Leonardo di Caprio's
character died, so at least that's a checkmark towards the "happy
ending" column.
But at least we got to see Kate Winslet's boobs,
not to mention one of the most hilariously memorable death scenes in
cinema, so it's all good.
Damn straight it was

I'd be willing to bet that the final % of players who will be dissatisfied with the endings we currently know of being the only endings will be much higher than 50%. They may not all be filled with Rage about it.. or Extremely angry about it. But if you count those that find the endings dissappointing or are otherwise unappy in with those that are varying degrees of Angry and upset about them.. you'll get well over 50% in the end.. I'd almost bet on it.
No doubt. The majority of people defending the endings here are Biodrones. Mainstream-wise, there are very few Biodrones that will defend this action; sure, some people will enjoy the death in the ending, but the truth of the matter is that less than 30% of the total population will like these endings.
There is a reason why most Hollywood movies have 'up' endings. Most people don't like down endings. The late 70's were filled with grimdark movies, and what was the breakaway hit? Star Wars IV: A New Hope -- a story about an idealistic young man who rises up to knock back the Empire and save a princess and her galactic rebellion. That's quite the fairy tale. And people loved it.
Just playing devil's advocate, look at Titanic.
Though Avatar made more than 2.5x that, and it had a happy ending.
Obviously, I agree with you![]()
There is absolutely nothing redeeming about the endings we've seen for Mass Effect 3. The biodrones will go on about how the Reapers being defeated is good enough - never mind the billions in suddenly-isolated colonies who will still starve, having lost their support infrastructure. Never mind the "triumphant" Quarians and Turians in orbit above Earth who will share the same fate, cut off from their home worlds. Never mind two of the most popular characters in the series doomed to a slow death or mercy killing, while the rest of the Normandy crew plays out LOST - with incest.
All we wanted was one ending among many that didn't play out like an absolute, soul-crushing defeat. Apparently that was too much to ask.
And people are gloating about it.

One reason Titanic had a bigger box-office take than Star Wars, I think, was inflation. Going to see Titanic in the theater cost a lot more than going to see Star Wars in the theater. But, yeah, Avatar beat them both. I'm just trying to point out 'happy ending' is a winning formula for a reason. And I don't even want a happy ending or for the dark endings to go away. I just want and ending that doesn't destroy all of the relationships Shepard has built with people over the past two games. Apparently, BW are dead set on an art-house ending no matter what players do.

if these endings are the only ending heads will probably roll
I mentioned it earlier, but if everything is at it stands and plays out as predicted, it will truly be an excellent case study in what NOT to do to a franchise / fanbase, as well as other fascinating elements of the human mind (rationalization, denial, etc). People will hopefully look back and learn from this in future development projects.
I've accepted what will happen as what will happen; no amount of complaining I do will get them to put in the ending I wanted because, in the end, despite my choices, it's still their story and universe.
What happens next, though, from sales to PR backlash..that will be the truly "entertaining" and informative stuff to watch.
well all i can say is as a mass effect fan and i truely do mean this that maybe depending how people react to the game bioware shouldnt listen to its fans then.
and i say this because no matter what the rest of the fanbase demands theyare never happy.
and no im not trying to cause a issue im just stating the oviouse because bioware dosent have to listen to us at all and yet they do wich is nice and shouldnt be taken advantage of.
from all the leaks i saw im going to enjoy the game regardless and remain a mass effect fan im not mad at the devs im furiouse at the fans
There's a big difference between "Someone's always going to be unhappy, you can't please everyone." And "Disappointing 77% of your fans (the numbers last time I checked the admittedly unscientific poll)"
I'll Just reject the endings and makup my own. As far as I'm concerned, if what we know of are the only endings.. The bioware endings no longer exist for me. Will I buy ME3, yes.. I will. Will I buy anything else that may or may not come out in the Mass Effect Universe.. Possibly.. long after it comes out at the used game store. Will I buy anything else Bioware/EA after this. I'll avoid it like the plague until.. again well after release at a used game store for 70% off.
Pissing off 70 something % of the fans posting here, and maybe a third of that who don't know yet, and the rest of us here don't care/don't believe this. And the rest who don't care aren't posting and all together I think the acceptence and anger are split 50/50. Cause I'm not even counting people who will become fans because of this or the fans who aren't even on the forums at all.
I have to agree with you. Even though i do not personally like the possible leaked endings, I do not really think it is going to cost BW much. It cost them my money, but that is such a small amount they wont even notice it. they made a decision to end the series on a dark note for you and your crew, and that is thier choice. I can voice my displeasure, but in the end....it really does not matter.

I think this only supports the theory that they made the ending like it is hoping people would see it as this deep art people would go on about for years beyond like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus......except if the endings aren't executed properly, and don't reflect on the rest of the series too well, they'll just suck.ratzerman wrote...
