... wow. If we ever got 400 complaint cupcakes at work we'd have just eaten them.. it bothers me when management feels it necessary to micromanage what their staff eat lol... wonder if that's an EA PR thing or what.
We've been VERY hard on Bioware over the last few weeks - rather understandable really - and picking apart every little thing they said or didn't say.
I think that in this case we should give them a break, and assume that they made the donation in the exact same spirit that we donated to Childs-Play.
Out of interest though...does anyone else think we should have sent them the Porsche they asked for....?
I'm just thinking of things from my angle.. our staff bring in stuff all the time, the execs at my company regularly give us lunches... mind you where I work is awesome. I'm just bothered by the statement that about passing feedback along to the team... it's almost like they're trying to shelter them from the bad reviews or something... I wonder if Bioware's filtering every site but IGN now or something.
Even if someone hated something I made in its entirety, which we don't, and gave me freaken cupcakes to protest it I'd be like "SWEET CUPCAKES"... heck more than likely we'd get a good laugh out of it and be more likely to say "Well, maybe we could put in some extra effort on this".
This was not an "Everyone made this decision" choice.. this was a "For the sake of PR we're going with this".. which tells me that they may be listening, but they're not hearing what we're saying. They're decided to put on the blinders in the sake of 'artistic integrity'... fine, I'm putting on the Bioware blinders and not preordering anything again. I'll be waiting til it releases and I can see what my fellow fans say about it. I've learnt my lesson... this is just dumb now. We donated $80,000 to Child's Play.. Bioware donated OUR cupcakes to Charity.... and seems to think the world should applaud them now haha. If you want our applause let's see you match our Child's Play donations... if Child's play won't take it, then make an equal donation to the same youth charity you rejectonated our cupcakes to
I don't think it's too hard on them.. it shows a perspective of their culture that bothers me for a studio that was supposed to be the white knight of the gaming community, standing up to even EA. This kind of message control tells me that they're being directed to do stuff and it just upsets me because I hate to think someone isn't being sincere but is following a script.

I personally like the one in the leaked script much better myself.
Well, what was the script-version of the Thanke-KaiLeng-Scene like?
I am curious to know this, too.
From what I remember, not finding the copy of the leak I read at the moment, was that Thane would drop down and end up dying from either a gunshot wound from Udina while Thane tried to protect the Asari Councilor, or he would fight Udina for the gun, after which (Can't remember if he killed Udina at that point or Kaidan did) he succumbed to his disease due to exhaustion.
Once I find the copy of the leak I read, I'll post more details.
Intersting... Also... were there plans for Kolyat? Is it assumed that he just died off screen when the Reapers repoed the Citadel?

To the Godchild:
What's worse is that this change only happens in the last ten minutes, turning all of Sovereign's menace into the laughable thought that the Reapers were created by the Godchild AI thing. Sovereign even says that it was the Reapers that created the Citadel and the Relays; using the current ME 3 ending sequence, it apparently was too embarassed to say the truth.

ME1-Codex (Planet Klencory )
Klencory is famously claimed by the eccentric volus
billionaire Kumun Shol. He claims that a vision of a higher being told
him to seek on Klencory the "lost crypts of beings of light." These
entities were supposedly created at the dawn of time to protect organic
life from synthetic "machine devils."

Saw that today! I wonder if they got the idea from it or, because they still weren't sure what endings they wanted yet, they, back in ME1, put in a bunch of 'creation stories' to give themselves some lore.
Once again it bothers me they put this much effort into the first 99.95% of the series, and then threw it away in the last .05%

Look around the forums a bit, he's got a knack for coming across as a cocky ass.
He's not lacking in arrogance, thats for sure.
As for BW not saying anything, they are still running the PR playbook when it comes to damage control, "Clam up and wait for things to die down".
I'm still waiting to see just how PAX goes. It's has the potential to be a pretty explosive situation, not that thats what we need right now.

For three weeks we've been picking apart every word they have and have not said - and quite probably reading far more (or less) into those words than was intended.
Regardless of what they may or may not have been working on, or planned or intending to do from the start. The simple fact is that they have unquestionably been under a considerable amount of pressure and stress...quite probably for at least the last two months.
The statement they gave about the cakes does not read to me as if it was written by someone in the PR department. It reads to me as if it was written by someone who is simply tired, and wasn't quite able to articulate what they really wanted to say. I've been there and done that before...although I usually have the option of going back and changing or deleting those words the next day.
Also bare something VERY important in mind here; We, as a group, are being listed as a legitimate 'power' in the gaming industry in several quarters. This is one of the reasons why Childs Play made the request that we stop the chip in account, and it is why Bioware probably couldn't accept the cupcakes for fear it would be seen as a 'bribe' - we do after all have an agenda.
We might not see things in this light, but others (including the media) certainly would.
I think that we should declare a truce, at least until we get news from PAX, and take comments made by Bioware staff at face value until then.

Why add that "they know that the cupcakes are a form of "irony", and not some congratulation on the team's work, so they are not eating them"?
Would you be glad if they said that and though ate them? I also think they did not donate them because of the "irony". I think they would have done it anyway. Come on, at least this time, they made young people happy.
You are getting me wrong. And that's not what I intended to. But their statement said so. What I'm just trying to say is: they are clearly "on edge" with all this happening. I´m not the first to bring that to attention. I think it would do more good to have a little more attention to their PR. It's not criticism, but some of the things brought to our attention can very well be misundertood. And what good would that do to them? To us? To the Retake movement? To the relationship?
It's just food for thought. I'm OK with their decision.

I expect whoever gets to stand in front of the crowd and field questions will have cards given to them by the EA uppers with pre-written blanket statements that they won't be allowed to deviate from, and anyone who pushes the issue will be removed from the hall for causing a "disturbance" which will only add fuel to the fire.
We don't need it to get ugly, but this has the potential to go nuclear.
I just wish I could be there to throw them a politely worded question that would leave 0% room for avoidance or dodging and watch how stupid they make themselves look when they just quote more PR BS off the cards.
I hope someone who can go does it and gets it on tape.

Pretty much it. And Mr. Priestly's twitts are already being questioned. I don't think there's nothing wrong with those, but again, with a little more consideration before posting stuff, they could avoid a lot of trouble. If I could say something, I would tell the team to be extra carefull. And to lay low. And to think a lot before posting anything. The tension is high at the moment. They are not at their best with their "fans" (customers). But, hey, it's their way. Let's just hope it doesn't do more damage.
