Pretty much it. And Mr. Priestly's twitts are already being questioned. I don't think there's nothing wrong with those, but again, with a little more consideration before posting stuff, they could avoid a lot of trouble. If I could say something, I would tell the team to be extra carefull. And to lay low. And to think a lot before posting anything. The tension is high at the moment. They are not at their best with their "fans" (customers). But, hey, it's their way. Let's just hope it doesn't do more damage.
I think they will only be a problem if A; They say something that is outright inflamatory...and I should think they are smart enough not to do that. Or B; We ASSUME what they are saying is meant to be inflamatory.
As I just said, I think until PAX we should just take what they say at face value or as humour.

hi all back from work, time for a stint on the line.
i had a look at the thread earlier and it was pointed out that the system where the cerb base is located is called "pax"(that is also the place were the normandy is dumped when you do a post-continue). did this line of thought go anywere?
It went to the Speculation Nebula, did a quick run between the Twin Suns of Doubt and Fury, and ran in circles around the Questionable Asteroid. Then, when it was finally leaving the Speculation Nebula for the Reluctant Acceptance Cluster it was hit by a Crucible shot and crash-landed on the Planet of Unknowable Unknowns.

Actually, they've been referring to it as "400 cupcakes" rather than 402...maybe they didn't count them all?
...or maybe they ate two...

Hmmm. I missed this one. I suspect it is not a coincidence. Pax, of course, also means "peace" in Latin.

it would basically start like "we had all these really great ideas! Unfortunately, they were tossed out by the janitors who were cleaning, we then had to use an idea that someone had written on a napkin when they were at the bar, we figured what could go wrong" then the DLC starts loltjc2 wrote...
I would pay $10 for a what went wrong DLC. Basically a mini documentary of how the ending became so bad.

For three weeks we've been picking apart every word they have and have not said - and quite probably reading far more (or less) into those words than was intended.
Regardless of what they may or may not have been working on, or planned or intending to do from the start. The simple fact is that they have unquestionably been under a considerable amount of pressure and stress...quite probably for at least the last two months.
The statement they gave about the cakes does not read to me as if it was written by someone in the PR department. It reads to me as if it was written by someone who is simply tired, and wasn't quite able to articulate what they really wanted to say. I've been there and done that before...although I usually have the option of going back and changing or deleting those words the next day.
Also bare something VERY important in mind here; We, as a group, are being listed as a legitimate 'power' in the gaming industry in several quarters. This is one of the reasons why Childs Play made the request that we stop the chip in account, and it is why Bioware probably couldn't accept the cupcakes for fear it would be seen as a 'bribe' - we do after all have an agenda.
We might not see things in this light, but others (including the media) certainly would.
I think that we should declare a truce, at least until we get news from PAX, and take comments made by Bioware staff at face value until then.
I don't get why they couldn't have said "Haha thanks for the cupcakes! We couldn't eat them all so we donated a bunch of them to charity. Thanks again for your feedback, we hope to have exciting news at PAX for you"... instead they had to make a public stand against a vocal group of their customers. It'd be like me saying "Thanks for your feedback customer. I really appreciated the mints you sent me with it, I've given the mints to charity though because you weren't saying anything nice about what we'd done".
They want a cease-fire/truce as you put it, but they keep pushing buttons and it's infuriating from a customer relations perspective. I don't get that they're trying to hold out an olive branch, I get that they're having a stubborn artist tantrum even though, they admitted in their own documentary, they were rushed for time... that's a business decision, not an artistic one. We're now responding to the BUSINESS decision and asking they finish their product, not the artistic one... or at least I'm not anyway. The most business like, professional response I've seen so far was from the Co-Founder last week and Jessica earlier that week.
This, to me, is about not accepting less than what was advertised and what was promised for quality by reputation, nothing to do with artistic integrity... if they wanted to fight for that they should have done it before they released an unfinished piece of art to the world.
I still have my nuclear option if they don't address the concerns we've made at PAX. It would definitely get EA's attention because it involves their largest customer. I'm not going to discuss it until I'm sure that Bioware's decided to disregard its customer base entirely though rather then just poorly worded releases and emotionally dictated decisions.

Semi-random question. Does anyone know where we came up with the number 402 seems a little bizarre. I can't stop thinking that I'm missing some context there.Cybermortis wrote...

PS if I ever work for a company that gets hundreds of cupcakes and I don't even get one I think that I would start breaking stuff. I can stay civil in the midst of what's going on with this ending but that would cross a serious food depriving line.

That's a very good point. Say they ate the cupcakes and then we find out that they indeed are going to change the ending based on our feedback...I can see the headlines now "Bioware sacrifices artistic integrity for cupcakes". They are really in a situation where they are damned if they do-damned if they don't. At least they have the letter and notes that came with and are (hopefully) lulling them over. It's a win-win. We get our message across, BW comes out looking good (even though I'm sure some employees would have wanted a cupcake), and some kids get to have a special treat.
Back to holding the line after a few days off. I went in to rage mode for a minute there and decided to slowly back away from the forums for a break!
