I mentioned it earlier, but if everything is at it stands and plays out as predicted, it will truly be an excellent case study in what NOT to do to a franchise / fanbase, as well as other fascinating elements of the human mind (rationalization, denial, etc). People will hopefully look back and learn from this in future development projects.

I've accepted what will happen as what will happen; no amount of complaining I do will get them to put in the ending I wanted because, in the end, despite my choices, it's still their story and universe.

What happens next, though, from sales to PR backlash..that will be the truly "entertaining" and informative stuff to watch.

well all i can say is as a mass effect fan and i truely do mean this that maybe depending how people react to the game bioware shouldnt listen to its fans then.

and i say this because no matter what the rest of the fanbase demands theyare never happy.

and no im not trying to cause a issue im just stating the oviouse because bioware dosent have to listen to us at all and yet they do wich is nice and shouldnt be taken advantage of.

from all the leaks i saw im going to enjoy the game regardless and remain a mass effect fan im not mad at the devs im furiouse at the fans

There's a big difference between "Someone's always going to be unhappy, you can't please everyone." And "Disappointing 77% of your fans (the numbers last time I checked the admittedly unscientific poll)"


I'll Just reject the endings and makup my own. As far as I'm concerned, if what we know of are the only endings.. The bioware endings no longer exist for me. Will I buy ME3, yes.. I will. Will I buy anything else that may or may not come out in the Mass Effect Universe.. Possibly.. long after it comes out at the used game store. Will I buy anything else Bioware/EA after this.  I'll avoid it like the plague until.. again well after release at a used game store for 70% off. 

Pissing off 70 something % of the fans posting here, and maybe a third of that who don't know yet, and the rest of us here don't care/don't believe this.  And the rest who don't care aren't posting and all together I think the acceptence and anger are split 50/50.  Cause I'm not even counting people who will become fans because of this or the fans who aren't even on the forums at all.

I have to agree with you. Even though i do not personally like the possible leaked endings, I do not really think it is going to cost BW much. It cost them my money, but that is such a small amount they wont even notice it. they made a decision to end the series on a dark note for you and your crew, and that is thier choice. I can voice my displeasure, but in the end....it really does not matter.

It really does matter. Word-of-mouth is responsible for a lot of sales after initial release. DA2 sold well, initially. Then people heard how sh*ty it was and avoided it. The same thing will happen again. People will tell other people, "Don't waste your time. The ending sucks."

I hear you. I for one am voting with my wallet. I've played through both 1 and 2 multiple times, and bought all of the DLC missions for 2, but if I don't see proof of any alternatives to this contrived, angsty horsecrap, I won't be buying this game. Believe me, I want nothing more than to be wrong. I desperately wanted to see this saga through to the end, and I will HAPPILY eat my own words if I'm proven wrong, but I'm just not seeing it.

But of course to offset the tragedy/disaster film aspect of it, it would have to be really a love story between a character played by Scarlett Johansson and a character played by Hayley Atwell. And instead of the backseat of a car, a sauna. And instead of charcoal drawing, baby oil wrestling.

Batman is a solitary hero. He lives and dies on his own. Shepard is a man who leads a team and a crew and maybe falls in love along the way. So even though Shep may die nobly in some endings, in others (at least one) I see no reason why he should not stay with those people instead of being forcibly cut off from them for the rest of their (possibly very short) lives.
