What helps for me is one: music lots and lots and lots of music that fit  the tone of the scene I am looking to write.  Second if  really gets to be a pain ... I go  watch something, read something else  and then from that I get inspiration  and ideas how the work the scene.

I listen to tons of music when I write.  It does help absolutely.  If I'm getting to frustrated I just walk away for a little while and decompress.

Depending on what I am writing, I usually find that soundtrack music is the best - I mean the real stuff not the from and 'inspired by' albums. 'Two Steps from Hell' is a good place to start.

I listen to soundtracks a lot.  Or I just bounce around my playlist if nothing works.  Sometimes the scene is just too specific for one song, sometimes it's three and I'll loop until I get the right feel and go from there.

I'm sure someone already mentioned it but I don't read the pages I've missed.

I woke up today to find that EA had emailed me a ME3 promo with the slogan "Welcome to the Fight to Take Back the Earth". I immediately started grumbling and giving my private rant since, we,, we all know how we feel about that hype. And it was an advertisement for the Iniltrator app. Since I was hoping to see some heartening news I clicked on the link anyway wondering if there was any new PR from EA or Bioware. The main page was a collage of ME related images and comment screenshots etc. I was very skeptical of this since it seems(ed) like they were just blowing more hot air and trying to salvage things while ignoring us.

I was actually surprised to see that when I hovered over an image to the upper right of the screen, it showed a comment of someone liking a youtube video about 5 reasons we hate the endings. I honestly didn't think they'd include anything negative on the splash page but I was pleasantly surprised. It may or may not be the only one, I didn't bother to hover over all the images but I figured I'd mention that they didn't *completely* ignore us.

Still lurking and Holding the Line =)

Ouch.  That's a heck of a drop.

I don't think I've ever seen a drop like that ever... O.O that's a prime example of what word of mouth reveiws can do to sales! Let us hope that they're paying close attention to these figures, otherwise they'll be screwed.

I see we like the same musics.  Maybe not hip hop so much, but I approve.  But yes, every genre brings something different to the table.

Ouch.  That's a heck of a drop.

Well, lets compare the % drop to other titles from the same source;

Fallout 3     Fallout NV     DA:O     DA2     DA;O Awakening     Call of Duty MW 3
Week 2      -65%           -64.5%        -47%    -67%          -68%                       -85%

Week 3      -46%           -45%           -52%    -52%          -56%                      -21%

Based on the figures a large drop in sales in the second week appears quite normal - especially for high profile titles as a lot of the first week totals will be pre-orders.

What is really interesting is the 5th, 6th and 7th week figures (which we, of course, don't have for ME3 yet). Good games show an increase in sales around this time - Mass Effect had a spike of some 20% in its 5th week, DA:O likewise showed a spike from week 6, and week 7 saw a 27% increase. Even CODMW3 saw a rise in sales in the same period.

I note this, because people have wondered why Bioware might pick PAX to give a statement about a new ending (they have NOT confirmed that they intend to...but realistically I don't think they have any choice in the matter). A (positive) statement or reveal at PAX would be in time to help the word of mouth sales that should start to kick in around week 5 or 6 - and of course remind the three people who managed to miss that the game existed that they can go and buy it. I don't think they really have the option of holding off any longer than PAX, because a week or two later potential customers will have moved onto other games and other developers...as, of course, will most of their existing customer base....

More pressure on BW methinks. If they manage to win their existing customers over at PAX then there is a good chance of a surge in sales. If they don't sales will continue to fall as the word of mouth is bad, and their reputation will have been destroyed.

Egads! It's almost 0730 and the munchkins are up already! I got to take off. Hold my spot on the line. When I get back I'm bringing coffee.

Keep it real. Keep it calm. Hold the line.

To anyone who has seen the movie Gladiator, if Bioware was really trying to go for bittersweet(we all know they only hit "bitter") they should have done it in the style that Gladiator pulls off and of course, have that be one of many endings haha (watching it at the moment and the thought just popped into my head so forgive the randomness of it lol)

I thought this same, exact thing. Shepard's love interest burying his/her tags in the fresh soil of earth. "We will meet again, love, soon. But not too soon, we will rebuild this galaxy you have saved". And then inspirational music playing as we watch each of the surviving squadmates putting their lives back together. Garrus putting his arms around his father, Tali building her home, Wrex and his children, James receiving his N7 badge.

And then, as we watch the last ellipse of a planet fading to black, words scroll up the screen to the sharp tones of the intro theme we heard all those years ago. "Shepard became a legend, a symbol of what could be accomplished through peace and harmony. With the combined brilliance of the entire galaxy, the relays were rebuilt and the races entered a golden age. But peace never lasts, and new legends will rise...

Boom - Mass Effect.

Yeah...6 more days until happiness!...if Bioware doesn't annunce an MMO or something...<_<

Honestly, that would be one of the worst things they can do. Do they realize that a lot of their fans play on console? (especially because it started on the xbox) That would be...ridiculous. (and I would hate them forever)

On a happier note: Good Morning! :)

While that would've been nice, I would've like to have more of a DAO ending, but maybe with actual cinamatics instead of just being a text based Epilouge....
