Just finished ME1, kind of wish BioWare had just recycled the ending for ME3 *sigh*

While that would've been nice, I would've like to have more of a DAO ending, but maybe with actual cinamatics instead of just being a text based Epilouge....

Yeah it would have been nice, the ending to ME1 was awesome.

Yeah a DA:O type ending changing the text for cinematics like you said would have been awesome.

I would like to say anything would be better than what we got, but I don't want to underestimate BW's ability to destroy their fan base *joke*

OK, got the sales figures for week 3 of release. The following figures are for the X-Box 360  .

Mass Effect                              Mass Effect 2                               Mass Effect 3

Week 1         371,676                                    874,373                                       1,631,609

Week 2         264,335 (-29%)                          242,740 (-72%)                               338,672 (-79%)

Week 3         146,615 (-46%)                          137,882 (-43%)                               165,734 (-51%)

(Figures from http://www.vgchartz..../mass-effect-3/ )

So many bought ME3 instead of the other O.o

Then again was ME1/2 ever advertised on TV =P

The number of sales wont matter in this case. What matters is the percentages given. As you can see, there is an eight percent greater drop off in sales of ME3 during week three than either ME1 or 2. Add to those figures the number of returns, and the price reductions and you have the makings for a disaster..  Dont lose hope..

Well, lets compare the % drop to other titles from the same source;

Fallout 3     Fallout NV     DA:O     DA2     DA;O Awakening     Call of Duty MW 3
Week 2      -65%           -64.5%        -47%    -67%          -68%                       -85%

Week 3      -46%           -45%           -52%    -52%          -56%                      -21%

Based on the figures a large drop in sales in the second week appears quite normal - especially for high profile titles as a lot of the first week totals will be pre-orders.

What is really interesting is the 5th, 6th and 7th week figures (which we, of course, don't have for ME3 yet). Good games show an increase in sales around this time - Mass Effect had a spike of some 20% in its 5th week, DA:O likewise showed a spike from week 6, and week 7 saw a 27% increase. Even CODMW3 saw a rise in sales in the same period.

I note this, because people have wondered why Bioware might pick PAX to give a statement about a new ending (they have NOT confirmed that they intend to...but realistically I don't think they have any choice in the matter). A (positive) statement or reveal at PAX would be in time to help the word of mouth sales that should start to kick in around week 5 or 6 - and of course remind the three people who managed to miss that the game existed that they can go and buy it. I don't think they really have the option of holding off any longer than PAX, because a week or two later potential customers will have moved onto other games and other developers...as, of course, will most of their existing customer base....

More pressure on BW methinks. If they manage to win their existing customers over at PAX then there is a good chance of a surge in sales. If they don't sales will continue to fall as the word of mouth is bad, and their reputation will have been destroyed.

what gets me any other game from any other company that releases a triple A title they see a drop of at most 50%
this is due to the amount sold in one week which reduses stock so sales in the second week are always going to drop.

the the drop of second and 3rd week sales of me3 is really..............horrific.
the first AAA game of the year and after an amazing release everything then went down hill fast as more people finished it.

to make matters worse when the co-founder of bioware publicly ridiculed and belittled the fans (AKA the comsumer AKA the people that can make or break a company) and then claim artistic integrity made the company look bad.

so bad that forbes...a WALLSTREET buisness website has been running the story in a regular basis even going as far as the uk finacial times (that in itself shows just how bad it got) has damaged even more sales with the amount of sales drop off.

now it seems to have come to light that bioware have pulled a capcom, they removed the entire ending to sell as DLC, this seems it includes missions, extra squad members and more from single player hence the whole "continue the legend of shepard" text box.

this is in a sense a SERIOUS  bad move, its bit capcom in the ass so bad that they might be forced by there OWN gaming regulator to release it free in a condensed pattern.

now if this turns out to be true bioware as well as EA itself will have there reputation damaged beyond repair and no amount of begging could do it.

capcom they are a developer as well as a publisher and is a single company

where as EA is a publishing company with MANY idividual developers (criterion, blackbox, bioware)  if one of the developer companys screws up huge EA is seen to have screwed up as well.

if capcom and bioware continue this trend other game companys might follow suit which means we really are being sold incomplete games at full prices.

after years of being quiet our voices are now being heard, we have made moves in ways NO-ONE ever expected, a lot of the so called fan haters screams are now being drowned out by supporters for us.

but what they all thought was that we were all entitled brats, or spoiled kids or in some cases "teenagers who have had there mountain dew supply cut off", but we proved them all wrong, instead of grabbing virtal pitchforks and digital flaming torches we instead went for the cupcake and nicness approch, this is something no-one would have seen happening.

(this is for the ppl thats reading it now)

you see we are all mature people abet some just want to riot but thats the norm for a large crowd but we as fans of an emotional sci-fi rpg game have all learned something from the game....the PARAGON and what are paragons, people who take a stand but in a civil, nice and collective way, we see sense in many things but in doing do we also see EVERY FLAW.

in short because were all nice we can now see the flaws in the logic of what they say.
with bioware's PR team not saying anything or even hinting at what they are going to do the retake movment grows stronger, people who were calling us retarded over the ending have since converted to our cause as they have in a month got the other 2 games, played them, finished them and now see what all the protests are about and are now supporting us.

in one week we went from a couple of people to nearly 100,000, we had 50,000 in one week and now a month later we have 100K and if all the lurkers and people who are with us but do not speak that support us actually spoke out i bet we could have over 200k and MAYBE a LOT LOT MORE.

with PAX coming bioware has ONE chance to fully redeem themself and admit to what they have done was stupid and IF it was planned to actually ADMIT it.

anyway i just went waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off topic

I don't like coffee either
Much prefer Irn Bru but since I can hardly get that a lot in NZ I tend to stick with Sprite Zero....

*covers eyes from the horrible color, pink* I swear, my eyes start to bleed everytime I see that color~! And I'd also swear that you're trying to blind me xHezz~! :pinched: I've never been one for cafinated beverages for the most part, except Dr. Pepper, and different Root Beers, cause there's so many.

irn bru is NOT pink but a golden orange colour,

coca cola tried to take irn bru maker barr's to court to get the ingreident list for the drink, barr's said "we'll give you ours if you give us yours" coca cola lost the case Image IPBImage IPB

Awesome, never heard of it but awesome anyway lol.

That's good I'm glad you're enjoying playing ME2, I'm still enjoying playing ME1...you know I never actually play as anything other than a Soldier....I just don't think I would be very good at anything else lol.

I know what you mean about not playing anything other than a certain class, I'm always an Infiltrator. I'm really good at sniping, so that class abilities really lend themselves to helping what I do best. I just wish I could ditch Disruptor ammo for some other power, that's my only problem with the class the stupid ammo, it would amke more sense to have Amror Piercing or even Warp Ammo, instead of Disruptor.

i like playing as an adept, my first runs through the games ever were as a vanguard though, gotta love biotic charge :P

Vanguard for life over here! I <3 getting up close and personal~

Easily could've been Tali, if they actually did a picture of her in full 3D based on the stock photo, it would've been more acceptable, I quite like the picture in the link, her face in it looks more appropiate and in line with the graphical style of the Mass Effect universe, also a sidenote, if they did a full 3D of her instead, it would be very unlikely we would've ever noticed what it was based on.

One thing I've been thinking about is that, for all these years ( since pac man in the 80s for me ) game companies have been able to sell us games with little more than vague references to the games content. Continually, we have been treated a bit like children at christmas. We have an idea whats in the wrapping, but not really because the rest is a surprise. Personally, i hate surprises and ME3 is a decent example of why. I know that if i go to a bookstore, I can pick up a book and open it to the last page or chapter and decide if its something i want to read ( depending on how the author handles the ending ). Even if I'm just going to be meeting a new person, I can always contact some idiot place like Been Verified.com to find out about them. Its only in television and movies where i also have to buy the ticket with the product pretty much unknown over all.
Because of pretty much all of the above, i know that I am going to be wanting much more than an " You're gonna like it " advertising campaign. I'm going to want to know exactly what i'm buying, and i'll most likely never invest in a series again, until the time that the series is complete and i can see what the outcome is.
I wonder if anyone else feels that their POV on purchasing games has also changed like mine has? I wonder if we'll all be much more careful in the future and demand more responsible and complete advertising before we make that decision..

It's unfiltered, quite a few negative feedbacks on it, there's definitely a feeling of spin going on here.
