I also thought I'd share a link here. It's an article which explains why there is such a disparity between the critical reception of ME3 and user reception:

I can totally understand all the points in this post but still feels bad/dumb/sad that even though story isn't huge in all games that for games in which it is the biggest thing that reviewers don't 1: give themselves enough time or 2: companies give them more time before street date; to allow them to get everything out of it so that their review is more in line with what the fanbase is expecting.

Guys, I made my own ranty video, and I'm just sufficiently lacking in shame to be willing to link to it myself.

Check it out if you have fifteen minutes that need to be wasted.

Hello, all. Anyone care to update me on our situation for the last few days, or are we all still waiting for PAX? Also, anyone know how the cupcake movement went over with BioWare?

We have fleets massing at the Charon Relay.  We await the PAX peace conference results and hope that we may stand down and return to our homes.  Should, however, peace fail, we all know our duty, and we shall hold the line, nay, we shall push the line and drive the barbarians from our games! Image IPB

Agreed. The SSV Atlanta is prepared to hold the line at all costs and eagerly awaits the PAX peace conference. Image IPB

Nharia1 has spoken, don't make her angry, you wouldn't like her when she is angry, besides I don't like the colour green.

Why would there be green? Wouldn't it be red? .... Oh wait a second... xD Haha Mr. Bond, that was good, you had me confused for a second there. There wouldn't be any green, just the color of whatever's behind me at the time, when I use a Tactical Cloak, then snipe them~!

I agree with you too! It's nice to find someone who is like minded once in a while. I've been looking around in the forums and i rarely see people mention how simplified ME3 is. Yes the the endings were terrible, but they weren't the only issues...Image IPB

No, that has been talked about here but like 500 pages back. I remember because it was one of my personal pet peeves about the entire ME3 experience. They were slowly taking away player agency and replacing it with...well, automated dialogue. It really peeved me and made me feel more like I was watching Sheps life instead of actively participating.

BOOO!

Yes! And sorry I hadn't gone far back in the thread lol.Image IPB

Found that myself earlier too, didn't post it though, thanks!  It's actually a really good article..

I posted a few pages back earlier this evening as well on some new information that came to light... things such as the review copies were not the exact same as the retail copies.  Wall Street Journal pointed that out in one of their articles.  My post was more on the seemingly harsher tone from the mainstream media now.

Wow really? I did not know that. Would you mind posting that link again? I'm really curious now. Oh and no problem lol

So off topic, but I really enjoyed the exploration and miniature side quests in ME1. In ME2, the dialogue trees were enormous and had many questions that sometimes made Shepard seem hopelessly but comically ignorant. In ME3, I miss all of that, but sort of understand. ME3 focuses on the war with the Reapers. There isn't much time for Shepard to do anything else but fight. Still, like you, I wouldn't mind having all of those things back in ME3. As it stands, there's hardly any exploration at all and little to no dialogue variation. I do like how your squadmates interact with each other this time around, however. It's a nice touch, although my jaw dropped when my Shep walked in on Garrus and Tali holding hands before the return to Earth...

First, though, let's get those endings changed. Nothing else matters until then.

Its understandable - this thread is out of control! But I think many others here would agree with you on that particular topic. :) Its lame and it was a bad move on BW's part IMHO.

@masseffect I told my girlfriend that I didn't think the end of ME3 was that bad. Now she says she can't date me anymore. So thanks 4 that.

MassEffect‏@masseffect

@followthatjack I hope she's not serious.

Jack A. Nonymous‏@FollowThatJack

@masseffect I don't know. She was pretty upset at you guys for your ending. Me...I thought it was pretty consistent with the story.

Mass Effect@masseffect

@followthatjack Buy her something nice and I'm sure she'll forgive you. :)

Ouch! rofl.. not sure if this is serious or not hahaha.

EA/BW better not tell me to "buy the DLC" to fix this mess.  Granted, they're never getting another cent from me anyway now.  I'm certainly not paying for something that should have been in the game in the first place or supporting that sort of marketing tactic, cause then they'll just pull that same stunt again.

Thats just me though.

Hmm. It does seem like these DLCs are just getting worse and worse. A few years ago, I had no problem with buying an expansion pack for a game I liked because I knew it'd be a new game in itself. Now, these DLCs are hardly worth the price charged. And I certainly won't be supporting any precedent that involves things that should have been included in the game being sold separately. Day-1 DLC was bad enough, though I got mine "free" with the Collector's Edition of ME3.

Hold the line, folks.

Way I figure is that they didn't have time to finish it the first time, they rushed it out the door, so I'm willing to pay for the extra dev time... However, because they've been craptastic actually admitting that I'd appreciate they just released it for free since they're pleading some artistic integrity crap.

What I hate about story DLC is it's never free or fixes what I think is broke about the game.Only expansion I've liked was Awakenings.I doubt they ever make one that big again.

DLCs are getting worse because they are not "expansions" to the game anymore. DLCs now are stuff that would have been in the game but they took it out so that they can charge us more money. Real DLC is expanding the game by a few hours or adding something worth buying. Now it is just crap they decided to put half the effort into or like I said ripped it off the main product to then sell to us later.<_< Real DLC is things like Dragon Age: Origins Awakening, it adds something.

Agreed. Awakenings was good, but it's unlikely anything that big will be sold again. Now, it's all about the small things that aren't really worth the price charged and are practically useless. For example, map packs for multiplayer. $5.99 or so down the drain for a game I preferred to be single-player. Image IPB

I'm not willing to pay extra for them running out of time and selling a crappy, effectively incomplete game.

If people do that, then EA will say, "Gee, we can cut dev time for the main title and get em on paid DLC later that will complete things and we'll make even more money!".

I wont pay anything, even if they put out DLC that would give me the exact ending I imagined I'd get.  I won't support that sort of tactic by rewarding them for this whole disaster.

I paid for what should have been a complete game already, not going to pay more for what should have been there in the first place.

Like I said, just my feelings on it.  I realize most will gobble up any paid DLC they put out to "fix" this mess and in the long run it's only hurting us all, but most aren't willing to go without to really make a stand and hit EA where it hurts the most.

Still can't wait to see what happens at PAX.  Hope someone gets it all on tape.

Did anybody just catch the mini review of this game on Toonami/Adult Swim? They gave a pretty honest review. Quite possibly the most honest one I've seen yet.

I recently (as in just yesterday) found out that one of my co-workers in another department is a Mass Effect nut, but held off on buying ME3 because he heard about the endings via spoilers. Since I couldn't bring myself to tell him to buy the game, I just let him borrow my copy. I haven't played it since I got my last achievement a couple of weeks ago, and I don't suspect I'll ever play it again. I told him to take as much time as he needed.
