I don't normally post much around here. I was angry when I first heard about the endings. At this point, I am going to get the game, play it, and if they are as bad as they seem, I'll substitute my own headcanon into the story and not have more than one complete playthrough.

I will also have lost complete faith in Bioware to tell a great story. As in I will never buy another Bioware game, DLC and I will cancel my TOR subscription, which my exhusband knew things were bad when I told him that.

On the note of a 'happy' vs a 'bittersweet' ending, I would be happy if Shepard and the Normandy or Shepard and her squad went out in a blaze of glory. I didn't like it when they made Shepard go solo in Arrival and I don't like what I am hearing about the same thing here with these endings.

That is what happens when you become too emotionally invested in any media franchise or company. It's all just fiction, after all. Pure escapism.

BIoWare's writing is so good that people buy into their characters and worship them like gods. It's kind of creepy, but I've been there with characters like Tali.

Same reason people ****** about Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. Sometimes, the characters are just that believable, and we pour our hearts into them.

at least George Lucas did not say F U to us Star Wars fans and destroy the Star Wars Universe like Bioware did in Mass Effect 3 . Oh and any dreams of this being on the level of Star Wars is a joke . this franchise has been one piece sh**t story telling

Lucas did destroy the star wars universe though, with something i like to call "the prequels" <_<

And why are you on the forums if you think the series has been **** storytelling?

I am in it for the characters. Lucas did not destroy it he finished the story he created . he could have done a better job at it but at least it was finished . Oh I am sorry Bio fans but they will not get away with this garbage

I'm looking forward to the next 6 months of BioWare promising that they've learned their lesson, will "listen to the fans" in the future, and that their next game won't make any of these mistakes, like they did with Dragon Age 2.

+1
Except given the amount of hubris here I think it's more likely to TAKE them 6 months to admit there's a problem, and another period of time after that to admit they may have miscalculated.  What I really can't wait for is a year or two from now when someone currently behind-the-scenes spills the beans on what actually happened.

So, how did they get it to Earth.

And I'm going to head this question off before it comes- How do I know it's Earth? What other planet would it be?...Duh.

It could be pluto.........The most important planet in the universe.

The reapers move it there, Citadel has the only other facility that can make reapers.

Done a better job?

HE couldn't have done worse. I would have preferred luke get stranded on the ruins of the deathstar and his crew get stranded on endor than see any of the prequels become cannon.

Suddenly teleportation? Also it isn't like a massive structure like the citadel would not completely screw up earth's orbit and seasons and ocean currents, pretty much killing most of the planet.

I hear that your squadmates "teleport" aboard the Normandy no matter what.  Are we sure that's not just a glitch like the LI flashback?  Isn't it possible that not being with Liara is just a glitch, and fixable in a patch?

There are more than a few players like myself who couldn't care less about that rehashed 'Invaders are coming to destroy us!' plot and play the game instead for the stories and experiences that Shepard shares with his teammates and crew and, yes, LI. Some of us love ME for the characters, not the whatever main plot. In every ending, the characters get screwed. I could not care less about the fate of some made up universe. Characters with interesting personal stories and connections matter to me, and those connections between them and Shepard are ruthlessly and unecessarily severed forever in every ending. Those characters were the only thing that made this game special. There are hundreds of other games where I could save the imaginary galaxy from imaginary monsters, but only one where Commander Shepard, Tali, Miranda, Garrus, Liara, Kaiden, Ashley, Jack, Legion, Joker, Wrex, and everyone else do it. All I and many others are asking for is that these characters that formed such an unforgettable team would have one chance to save their whatever galaxy together.

If I wanted an alien invasion game, I would play Halo. I play ME for the characters.

Yes yes we know everyone wants their space wifey cry me a new one.Image IPB

Just because I want different things from a game does not invalidate me as a paying customer. Valuing human relationships above spaceship battles is not a bad thing at all, in my opinion.

Does it?  I can't remember where I saw it, but I remember it being implied that not only were the relays destroyed, but all mass effect tech got trashed in the end.

That's what I paid for - if I want death and senseless destruction I'll turn on the news. I'm only asking what BW promised - MY choice would the putcome. My choices of L1s would have conclusion in mE3. Yeah - right. BW kills them and magically lands the rest on some deserted planet to starve, inbreed, or eventually have no choice but to involve themselves in incest. That's twisted and sick in the extreme.

There are people who swear by this; but recently someone on the spoilers 'group' said there's no such thing (ALL eezo-based technology just stopping to work).

I really can't give a link, and the search function on this website is nonexistent. But someone will remember where it comes from.

Holy crap, he deleted it. I swear it was there. It was something like "Shepard is really two Volus in a suit" with the hash tag #fakeME3spoilers.

And Mac is now retweeting all of his favorite answers to his "ME3: art or entertainment" question. Unreal.

Actually, why are you treating those as mutually exclusive? Why can't we have an alien invasion with memorable characters? I think that's where part of this misunderstanding of "I want sunshine and rainbows" ending came from, no one said I expect my character to come out of this completely unscathed, what I think people want is for their character's decisions to have had some impact for the relationships they made with the other characters in the game mean something more than choose your color of explosion, and if their character has to die, make it in some tasteful way that either shows their heroism, determination, or cowardice.

The realities of their business dictate that they're obligated to hype up their games and dance the PR dance.  Even if they're secretly dissatisfied with their product and it was rushed due to forces beyond their control or whatever.  As the consumer though, we're not obligated to believe them.

Blue again I agree with you.  And the bigger issue is, much like how you can always sell a sequel ONCE based on the success of its predecessor, same thing with public image.  People will believe you and give you benefit of the doubt up until the point that they feel they've been blatantly lied to, misled or otherwise taken advantage of.  At that point your fan base now treats anything you say as tainted.  As the old captain of my ship once told me regarding respect but it applies to reputation as well - it's hard as hell to build up, but easy as hell to lose.

How do people say it. Reputation takes a lifetime to build, but seconds to destroy

Actually I'm starting to have my own doubts, I think it'd be corporate suicide to release a game that when the general media gets it they'll hear about the ending involving allusions of inbreeding and incest.

Johnny LOL!  Of course that's not how they'll spin it - they'll try to call it "art" or "a dramatic ending."

Someone just said mac walters tweeted something about "is ME art or entertainment?"  Sounds to me like he's already realized something is amiss and has now started to try and set the stage for calling the debacle art instead of what it is, poor creativity or inability to deal with many different possible endings.

Here's a hint on "many different possible endings" - epilogue slideshow!  Like at the end of DA:O or Fallout:NV.  Less dramatic than a cutscene, but damn if I didn't feel like I had an impact on how things turned out.

(Still pissed my courier wasn't in the room when Cass came by to bone him.)

Exactly, it is pure escapism.  I have a depressing life, so I turn to books, movies and video games to smile and forget for a few hours that my life sucks.  Mass Effect has been my second favorite franchise for five years now, my first being Star Wars.  Now from what I have read and seen thus far, Bioware is tossing the galaxy out the window.  Now I do not have context to what we already know, however, I will give it the benefit of a doubt to Bioware and will buy the game and play it all the way through, trying to get the best ending possible.
