If the rumor about Hudson taking over the ending is true, he should just be fired. When 1 person takes over for a whole team, it never ends well.
Even if is true, you do not know all the details why he did the ending alone.
This guy has more than 10 years experience in software developement and delivering the software product , and most of that time as a Lead . It would be unprofessional of him not to listen to his team. Even more i refuse to belive that Bioware dose not have at least one QA that had the guts to tell him in the first place of that the ending its rushed .
The only thing that comes to my mind is that he was faced with a deadline he couldn't deliver. So in this case he did what few team leaders will acctually do at job : save the team , even if he knew this might cost him dearly.
I can see no other reason regarding the discrepancies between the Genophage content quality and the Ending content quality.
That ME3 would need an ending is not something which caught the developers by surprise. There had been YYYYYEEEEAAAARRRRRSSSSSSSS to think about how to end the series. There is absolutely no excuse for "we ran out of time and had to slap something together." What's much more likely is a couple of them thought, "hey why don't we just come up with something brand new, we're better than the people who have already fleshed out the current ending anyway." Except, like Lindsey Jacobellis, they simply f*cked up when it mattered most.

^ this...... the amount of comments mirroring this one is why i believe that in the end bioware will fix ME3.
to not do so would be comercial suicide

Well, according to their documentary, ME is his baby. He conceived it, helped shaping it, and was deeply involved with it from the start. So, there's a lot to thank him about it. Seriously, a lot. But I'm the first to say that there may have been a big mistake from him regarding the endings. I don't know why he (and they) did it, but the documentary shows that he is responsible for the endings. He created it, he cut it short after the writers went on with ideas about it etc.
But let's not forget people's merits. While it doesn't cancel a mistake (if it's really like this), it can't be forgotten. Credit where credit is due, my friends.

Great post! I agree with it.
Something else I thought about too with the whole Shepard re- entering orbit via the crashed Citadel. I find it VERY convenient that he crashed in Lindon again of all places. If that were the case why not somewhere else like China, or the Artic, or even Texas?
Not to mention as you said that Shepard would be burnt to a crisp upon reentry, so if falling to earth was a possibly he'd be looking alot worse than what we got in the ending. Shep is a BAMF, but even that is pushing it.

I read the last page to catch up, and there is something I don't agree with. Although I may agree that Mr. Karpyshyn was probably the best RPG writer in the last years, he wasn't alone in the games. He had a team.
I would disagree. Mr Karpyshyn didnt have a team, he had "the" team. Even with the turnover rate being higher than a mcdonalds franchise, somehow those people all held it together, and even though there was obvious degradation in each successive game, they still managed to create an amazingly wonderful story that we participated in. That is, up until the last ten minutes.. Somehow, the "team" is missing from those few minutes. Somehow we've gone from an extremely well thought out story to an ending that only a two bit hollywood wanna be would think of ( like the scheming casino guy ( Jack Nicholson ) in mars attacks ). It all smells of grand standing to an almost comic level. Only it isnt funny...

And as I thought, it boiled down to 'I like it because I like it', good for him. And since he apparently has not invested that much time to get familiar with the plot and lore (?), the narrational inconsistency apparently didn't bother him. I'm not particularly impressed by his suggestions about the nature of retakers with 'just a game' paragraph though...

And another thing, Mr. Walters, who is credited as lead writer on ME3, doesn't seem to me to be "guilty" for the endings.
According to the BW authorized "The Final Hours", the producer is actually who devised the endings, who cut it short, and who wanted to leave everything "opened". Mr. Walters wrote according to his directions. At least it's implied like this in the documentary. Even in one of the writer's interviews about it.
If all that is trying to project an excuse for EA not giving enough time, or for BW changing the endings because of the leak, I don't know. But Mr. Walters does not deserve to be treated as responsible for the endings. Or at least not as the sole responsible for it. Not according to their documentary.
The endings suck. But they sucked as a cooperative effort.
P.S. - Let's just not be unfair with finger pointing.
He's still a terrible writer though.

Only reason I want to get through to the 'end' on this play through, so I can shoot that little snot until the Crucible blows up.
I realize I can't kill him but I bet it will be cathartic (hope that's the right spelling I was after).
