And as I thought, it boiled down to 'I like it because I like it', good for him. And since he apparently has not invested that much time to get familiar with the plot and lore (?), the narrational inconsistency apparently didn't bother him. I'm not particularly impressed by his suggestions about the nature of retakers with 'just a game' paragraph though...

Yeah, I got the same impression. He obviously isn't as invested in the game series as we are, so that is why I guess. Guess to some people it is just a game, but to us it was so much more. 

I'm kinda glad at least one person I know liked it.

I didn't get a chance to read her blog and all the excerpts I've seen are in Tumblr...sorry. (But from what I heard she did comment and throw shade at us, the little ****. Hate. Her.)<_<

yeah, just managed to only read the quotes on tumblr as well.. damn. 

i mean yes, we weren't the nicest to her in general, but seriously, what the hell did she expect? her character was absolutely pointless and effing terrible. but bla, might be something for another thread. 

it's sad that something like her is allowed to call herself a video game journalist, or whatever she calls herself these days. damn, i'm not sure that i'd like to be remembered as the chick that licked a ps or something.

i am sick of our own people derating or asking / demanding a reason why someone likes the endings of ME3

for starters, we are supposed to be CIVIL and yet thats been going down hill, we need to stop being d1cks and start letting people be.

if someone likes it then let them like it BUT REMEMBER THIS, they MIGHT have NOT played the other 2 games.

all you have to say to them is this.

"we respect your right to like the endings but if you may answer this question then we can disscuss this more, Have you played the other 2 games of mass effect in order?"

if they say no then you say.

"please if you can go play the first 2 games then the 3rd then come back and tell us your answer"

if they say yes then you say

"we respect your comments and we respect your choice, we are happy for you that you enjoyed it, if you are here to support us then please do, if you are here to degrade us and disrespect us then please goto another thread, so please tell us what you liked about the ending and if it could be improved please tell us"

see thats how simple it is.

if someone loved the ending then thats there choice, if they hate it then thats there choice.

you see i may goof around but thats just me but i dont start getting personal like asking / demanding they prove why they loved it.

i hated the ending with a passion, nothing of it made any sense at all, the starchild, the relays being blown up (some good ideas have came out about that which some do make sense but some just dont) and what the hell is with buzz auldrin and the kid at the end, the crappy photo shopped picture thats supposed to be tali (btw the woman in that picture dident give bioware permission to use her image nor did the band whos cd cover bioware ripped off ..... i smell copyright lawsuit)

as a cut scene of a game it was great
as an ending to one of the greatest game trilogy's OH HELL NO

see i have 2 views on it, one as a gamer and one as a casual viewer and boy am i a huge gamer i'm a hard core gamer hell i had the sness power glove controller ..... jesus i had a virtual boy and to top it off i even had a phillips CD-i and an atari jaguar and the epic doomed sega 32x.

so if someone says they hate the ending then respect there views and choice

I was nice to you before, but seriously, what the hell is your problem mate? Not used to people actually wanting some reasons for other people's opinions? Ok, maybe some of the comments were on the bad side of joking, but sick of people asking some details to back up arguments?

If it makes you sick, ignore it, and stop white knighting when there is absolutely no reason for it.

With all due respect, the conversation regarding the BIL that liked the game has been 100% polite. NO bashing whatsoever. Yes, ppl are surprised other's could actually like the ending, but that is perfectly ok.

There have been comments about the defending's side attitude towards us. It is true that they tend to be harsher in voicing their opinion, and yet, we have come to accept that. At most we joke about it. No angry words, no going nuts over troll comments.

We have been civil, nothing has been going down hill.

Are people really surprised she may have slammed the retake movement?, they may not have been directly responsible but the things I've seen posted about her are at the very least disgusting, I don't much like Chobot but that's just a personal opinion, I have no need to call her out, if anyone is to blame for chobot being in the game, look at the developers not her.

might be right about that, but i am just so damned pissed of (on the verge of resignating and throwing ME3 into the darkest corner i can find)

We just want to understand the reason as to why anyone would like this ending other than "Just Because", "The Hero Sacrifices Himself", or "The Singularity".

We want to understand them, in that sense we're givng them more respect than they're giving us...

no, it does not make one a bad person, but what does make the people working at EA/Bioware "bad" is, that they do not even tell us that they didn't agree with the company line (well that might be forbidden, but it would show that they are alive and not just work-drones!)

I don't understand hockey at all. Never seen a game(?) either. But it's not unusual; don't understand baseball or football either.

Why is understanding them a requirement?, my ex did not like Star trek, but I did not need to understand her reason, she just did not like it, it was her opinion.

Surprised? No, not even by her choice of words, since apparently some of the messages have been nearing a possibility of a lawsuit. And I don't have a problem with her being in the game, and to be honest, her voice acting was kind of fitting imo to her character. I may even go as far as to like the idea of a game reporter being in a game, reporting.

The only problem I have with the message circulating, if it's the real deal, is how she seems to associate retakers with those people who have been insulting her. As in: Retake ME3 = hate her. But as I said, I understand her reaction.

but she did just apologize it seems.. 

and no, i'm not really surprised to be honest.. it's just the way she did it and expressed herself that foced me into facepalm mode. a lot of fans haven't been exactly nice to her, but there's always the black sheep. but after her reaction and choice of words (and of course the lack of objectivity.) i don't actually condemn those people anymore. now, i have no problem with them firing away. 

and bla, i'm way too tired to express myself.. i hope you understand what i'm trying to get at..

indeed - i have so far asked anyone i know of who told me that they liked the ending on other forums (like the german: buffed.de-forum for RPG-Gamers) why he liked it and i mostly got told:

because they chose to end it that way

it is their right to do it like that and i like it that way

(amongst a few other things like being told of for being a "nerd" or a damned idiot for wanting something else!)

so yeah, i want to understand them, but they do not give me the chance because a discussion without cursing and swearing and expletives seems to be impossible (have we sunk that low? - yeah, i gues we did!)

Speaking out against a companies line while still employed by said company is great way to become unemployed. It's also a great way to kill off your chances of working in that job market for the forseeable future, because your former boss is not going to wax lyrical about your skills when asked for a reference...assuming that everyone in that business hasn't already heard what you did.

Jessica Chobot, You know what, you're right.

You know what folks. You're 100% right. I shouldn't have mentioned
anything about my feelings about "entitled gamers" when it comes to the
ME3 ending (and my work in progress with it). I've done exactly what I
dislike others doing and that is to make a blanketed reactionary
statement based in passion and love for a series and company rather than
actual fact.
Here's the thing, and it's going to sound really weird, but as a
Bioware fan, this whole uproar has just made me so sad and a little
heartbroken. The petition, the attacks on a female Bioware employee and
the reaction I received when it was announced I was a cameo in the game
just kind of...well, hurt my feelings. Plain and simple.
Listen, I totally get that games are a huge investment of time and money
and, as an sales product, they should provide a certain level of
expectations and satisfaction for the consumer. I also am totally aware
that games are now, after much fighting by the gaming community, finally
considered works of art and, as art, should not always bend to what the
masses want. So, I'm torn when it comes to which side of the fence I
personally (not professionally) find myself standing.
All in all, I've become increasingly hyper sensitive to everything
surrounding the game and should, in hindsight, just try to avoid any
reference to it whatsoever since I find it difficult to be objective
when it comes to my personal feelings about it.
Either way, this doesn't excuse my ranting behavior. As I grow older, I
need to remind myself that I should also act more mature and stepping
down to a level of name calling just isn't what I want to do. So, please
consider this an, "I'm sorry."

I don't hate her
I think her publication, her employer bends over backwards for EA to the point of being biased to the point of propoganda.... but I don't hate her.

On the contrary, I feel ALL of the voice actors in ME3 are amazing, including her, and I'd hope she'd realize that any hatred of IGN is not due to her, on the contrary, it's due to their biased reporting of the game she was in is all.

I didn't even realize she was in the game til afterwards.. I just thought she was a semi-side character who was a reporter and loved the whole "Battlespace" sets... she made them good... nothing against her and I'm sad she's had a few idiots attack her apparently (I haven't seen anyone on here attack her though and shame on anyone who does).
