So we can't get the ending we want after all?

First up, to address the new Mass Effect games that will be following ME3. Mass Effect 3 is set to be the last ME game based on the events of this cycle. I would imagine that if we "loaded" a save from ME3, either the start would be that they had to rebuild the Relays or keep using the current ones (if DLC adds the ability to save them). That is not much of a leap, and since the next series should be outside of Shepard's lifetime, the rest of the current ME series should have no effect on the next.
Now, beyond the issue of canon in this game, we need to stress the fact that we are not asking for BioWare to change Mass Effect in any way. Simply to add to it. People complaining that adding more endings will mean they will have to play it again to experience them, well, that is kinda the point of a game...to play it through several times and find out more about it each time you do. However, adding more to the game wont destroy what is there, it wont change ME3 from what it currently is, it will just make it the perfect end to a perfect series for more than those who love it now. It wont take anything from either side, but rather, it will give to us all.
Furthermore, adding more choices to the Mass Effect ending actually enables more choices in terms of DLC both in this series and the next. Also, adding extra endings means that sales won't decline after all this, but rather stay constant or possibly increase. From a business standpoint, it makes sense to add more to the game.
Now finally, if they do charge for additional endings, I would buy it. Because I believe the story, as "art" deserves those endings. And $10 or whatever seems like an ok price to finish this masterpiece off. Also, BioWare staff would have put a lot of effort and work into it, so I feel they deserve something for the effort they put in to accommodate us.
And remember, there is still many other companies out there making good RPGs. If BioWare falls on its face now, it will follow all the other companies that EA purchases. So look for an alternative, because it is better to enjoy yourself playing a game that has what you are looking for, then spend too long stressing over a game (and a company) that obviously don't want us.
I hope that all made sense, I'm too tired to proof read it lol.
Enjoy yourselves guys.
I'm off to bed xD

edit: and yes i agree, it was like seeing the real Robert E. Lee the way he pulled it off (I've actually been to Gettsyburg before and have seen all the things there, just a random sidenote lol)
Very true, it was a really touching ending... Hm I don't have Troy, but Netflix might, if not, well there's the interwebs for that. I've also been to Gettysburg... One of the most moving moments in my life... I've never felt the presence of history more than when I was standing on Little Round Top, looking down the hill... I swear that night I had dreams about the fighting that took place... Quick lets start comparing the endings of movies to the end of ME3~!
Gladiator= Pulled off the Bittersweet ending
Braveheart= Epic end to a man who had become more than a man
Return of the King= pulled off the good ending despite impossible odds!
Why does that sound so romantic, despite the weight of what happened... >.< If only it wasn't a National park, and was just some random spot in the woods or something, I would so take my girl and... yeah I think I'll just stop there..
Black Hawk Down= Awesome way to end a movie, but it seriously lends itself to a sequel which will never happen since its actually based on the thruth for the most part. Again with beating the impossible odds.

People really want to believe the indoctrination theory. That is, they want this whole thing to be an elaborate hoax with Bioware releasing the "real" endings soon.
I remain incredibly skeptical.

Why not? If BioWare was smart they would bundle "new ending DLC" with a paid story DLC. That would cover production costs for remaking the endings. Then release just the ending content as free DLC and release a version of the paid story DLC without the ending content. BioWare minimalizes financial costs and the fans (ALL the fans) get what they were promised. Everyone wins.
I don't see its that way. Everything else than a 100% free ending DLC is a lost for us, because of the 2 posibilities.
1. BW really think the ending is thier "Master Piece" and ME3 must end this way.
Which mean they can advertise anything as long as there is an DLC which "fix" the problem. For example. Believe somebody advertise a hamburger with two slices of meat. Now you buy the hamburger, but there is only one slice not two. You start to complain about it and the Owner said: "Ok Ok, you can have the second slice but only when you buy bacon with it". Thats not a win/win situation even there is bacon involved.
2. BW planed this all a long.
What is really not good. To make a game with "no" or a "bad" ending, and only make it proper when its demanded, or even worse to have the ending remove it only to sell more DLCs. That can't be the way, we bought a full game so we deserve a full game, not a half game and the rest of it on deman. It also can lead to games where is no beginning or ending, only when you buy it via DLC.
Thats what i think about it.
Only a free DLC is a real victory, and showes us that BW care about there fanbase.
However, you fail to see one thing: DLC involves work. Work means people spending time making new cutscenes, environments, getting the voice-actors back to record lines. This all costs money and BioWare is a BUSINESS. If a decision results in a net loss for them, they will not follow through with that decision. Free ending DLC is one of those decisions. My post was a 2 phase idea where BioWare answered our requests to uphold they're pre-release promises while minimalizing that net loss - maybe even making it a net gain.
Phase One: Make and release a story DLC (I'll use Retake Omega as an example for simplicity's sake) with the ending's fix for $$$. This money would cover the costs it took to make this DLC (including the ending fix) and maybe even result in a profit for BioWare, showing that catering to fans is beneficial. Because, really, if they released Retake Omega before fixing the endings how many of you would buy it?
Phase Two: Release a version of Retake Omega without the ending's fix for those who like the endings as is and want Retake Omega. At the same time, release a FREE ending fix DLC.
You got hung up on Phase One when what you want was in Phase Two. As for your concerns: Concern 1 is invalidated because a free ending fix is released in Phase Two. Concern 2 is also taken care of by the point against Concern 1 and by this very movement. Even if they did plan it this way, our cries of rage have shown BioWare it was a really. stupid. idea.

Ah, thanks. I was wondering what it meant by "dream". Given the context, I agree it's hard to believe they would label a texture file so blantantly.

I'd like to remind the troops this is not just about the ending to ME3 or just about EA/Bioware, this is about you as the customer getting the product that was advertised.
For too long gaming companies have hidden behind things such as artistic integrity, time constraints, resources, I for one am willing to grant them those things, but I'm not willing to accept a subpar product using those as an excuse, if you cannot deliver then do not advertise that you can.
So remember troop, this not just about our dissatisfaction of the ending, this is a message to all gaming companies to deliver what they advertise, no more bullsh*t!

Few years ago, this one bought Mass Effect. It heard lot of stories about it, this one likes Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines or Deus Ex which are first person but this should me something similar this one played it on hard with John Shepard and because it was too complex for it, it decided to wait until it will have more time. It bought ME2 Collector’s edition and waited for trilogy to be complete and bought ME3 Collector’s edition and started to read reviews and learned about ending controversy so it started its new gameplay.
This one decided for playing with Jane Shepard, because it heard that the game was going to be long and it liked the appearance and voice of female Shepard more (this one did not know anything about Quarians that time, especially the one named Tali’Zorah nar Rayya).
This one was soldier this time, which was very wise and made it very compatible with Liara and Tali – making something like Hackett’s Angels :-) This one learned how to equip weapons with mods, how to upgrade its abilities and how to holster weapon and exit Mako. This one began to like and later to love the game. This one also encountered lot of bugs but did not mind. This one learned about bad Cerebrus and worse Geth and the worst Reapers and indoctrination.
This one started the second game and was disappointed, this one needed to have DVD in its drive. This one needed to learn to use Spacebar for everything and this one died so many times because it was unable to enter or exit cover. This one did not mind, this one did not mind the bugs, this one cared only about writing and reading its own story at the same time. This one was unhappy about Tali not loving it and Kelly not counting as romance nevertheless this one enjoyed the game and learned about not so bad Cerebrus, not so bad Geth, bad Collectors and of course the worst thing in this galaxy - the Reapers.
This one did not install the third game. This one does not like Origin. This one does not like EA and this one hates DRM. This one is aware of the rules of this forum and used you-know-what kind of computer magic to be able to play the game without agreeing with EULA. (However this one failed and accepted to be able to post in this forum). This one was very unhappy about multiplayer having impact on the singleplayer. Nevertheless this one did not mind. This one learned about bad Cerebrus, indoctrinated TIM, cooperation between Geth and Quarians and love between EDI and Joker. This one does not like stupid “Alan Wake” nightmares about the boy he does not know. This one is happy about deus ex machina superweapon Crucible. This one had to fight bad Reapers and cool space ninja Kai Leng. This one did not like the fight with Kai Leng because Kai Leng is immortal before making four holes in Cerebrus HQ. This one says goodbye to all friends before the final battle. This one does not like infinite numbers of enemies in this level but it does not mind. This is it. This one is running. This one is killed by Reaper’s laser. This one is in heaven. This one is in hell. This one is in nightmare. This one is confused and is running or staggers to the beam and to the citadel. This one kills the Marauder Shields without realizing it. The afterlife or nightmare or reality continues in brand new part of the Citadel or mind or something else. This one learns about indoctrinated TIM who wants to control the Reapers (which is impossible) and tells him to kill himself which he does. The nightmare continues and this one meets deus ex machina boy who does not know anything about circular logic. He tells me that I can control Reapers but no one else can. This one does not buy it. He tells me that I can sacrifice myself and make little reaper from everyone. This one does not buy it. He also tells me I can destroy all synthetics, even Geths who are healing weak immune system of Quarians, this one does not buy it. This one destroys all the Reapers and all the Mass relays (Why?). This one does not destroy synthetics (according to YouTube and EDI). This one sees Joker with Normandy trying to outrun R(GB) wave. This one does not understand it. This one sees Liara and Joker on the Jungle moon with Normandy but does not understand. This one has more questions than answers.
This one is very sorry but it has to tell someone. This one is playing Mass Effect 1 with new character, this one likes the Mass effect but this one does not like the part after being killed by Reaper’s laser. This one wants happy ending or ending. This one wants to see whether Asari or Salarians have deus ex machina brand new Mass Relays or the galactic civilizations are doomed. This one wants to know why is Joker stealing its ship and crashing on unknown moon. This one ignores Star Child and its circular logic about saving civilizations by destroying them. This one is working on its own ending when it is indoctrinated or incapacitated and saved by its best friends as well as the rest of the galaxy mass relays included.

I think you're wrong here. This work you mentioned is what they should have done before the release. Right now we have an incomplete product with rushed and inconsistent final part. If they are making ending fix right now (which I seriously doubt and hope at the same time), they are working on borrowed money - money we gave them already when we bought a supposedly full, complete product. Or maybe we should pay for every bugfix as well? Because right now I see the situation like this: we have a bug in the game, and it should be fixed. It may be optional bugfix, but it's still a bugfix.
