However, you fail to see one thing: DLC involves work. Work means people spending time making new cutscenes, environments, getting the voice-actors back to record lines. This all costs money and BioWare is a BUSINESS. If a decision results in a net loss for them, they will not follow through with that decision. Free ending DLC is one of those decisions. My post was a 2 phase idea where BioWare answered our requests to uphold they're pre-release promises while minimalizing that net loss - maybe even making it a net gain.

Phase One: Make and release a story DLC (I'll use Retake Omega as an example for simplicity's sake) with the ending's fix for $$$. This money would cover the costs it took to make this DLC (including the ending fix) and maybe even result in a profit for BioWare, showing that catering to fans is beneficial. Because, really, if they released Retake Omega before fixing the endings how many of you would buy it?

Phase Two: Release a version of Retake Omega without the ending's fix for those who like the endings as is and want Retake Omega. At the same time, release a FREE ending fix DLC.

You got hung up on Phase One when what you want was in Phase Two. As for your concerns: Concern 1 is invalidated because a free ending fix is released in Phase Two. Concern 2 is also taken care of by the point against Concern 1 and by this very movement. Even if they did plan it this way, our cries of rage have shown BioWare it was a really. stupid. idea.

Maybe I didn't read carfully enough :P
But I thing at the moment BW is on a losing money trip.
They can make
A) simply free ending DLC = Losing money
B) a paid DLC = Trust = Losing mone on longterms
ether way they will lose money only depents on how and how much. If the had made it right in the first place

Hope this is a joke because otherwise it will really suck. I share the point of view of DJBare: we have to hold the line. I am tired of marketing bull**** that lead you to hope the best and imagine a dream whereas you only receive ordinary materials after having paid a lot of money. That is the way I feel regaring the endings we got versus the declarations maid in newspapers

Word of advice when reading that forum: beware the creatures that dwell under bridges.

See, this can also be heard as a "we always said there would be DLCs. Just not telling you what type. It can be take over Omega..."

The datapad at the end also tells you there will be DLC...just not what kind...:crying:

They didn't say anything about "closure" dlc. So either this is one big gamble that they've taken and the Indoc theory or something similar is true or they're just trying to appease everyone by saying they were always going to release dlc (which we already knew) but not say that they were doing it specifically because of fan displeasure.

Fixing the game for free has an up-front cost.

Charging for a fix, or not fixing the ending at all, could cost them future sales.  This is an unprecedented backlash they're facing, so we really have no idea how much.

If they don't fix the ending, I'll just assume there was a Project Lazarus Part 2 and my FemShep was resuscitated again...(yes, Miranda survived in my game) :P

Or Space Magic :wizard: saved everyone.

They didn't say "additional CLOSURE DLC", just "additional DLC". Don't lose your hope, but be a little critical to anything they say, please.

The wording is odd there, it almost sounded as if they were just saying they planned to release any kind of DLC, not DLC specifically related to the ending. Although if they actually meant to say they always planned to release closure DLC, the IT theory seems about 1000x more plausible than it did yesterday.

Hmm... It seems Cryptic Twitter is being positive today. Very interesting.

I liked the other two from earlier that actually mentioned the ending better, even if they didn'y say they were "fixing" or "changing" anything. This "additional DLC" could mean anything though: "Yes, additional DLC was always planned. Here are some MP maps."

X_X

Either that, or I'm just being cynical. I'm feeling a bit more hopeful today than I was yesterday, though, which I guess is a good thing.

Has anyone else wondered whether they're pulling a Harry Potter on this, though? Splitting the last game into two parts... I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but I was thinking about that the other day. Then again, if it's true, they wouldn't be commenting on DLC regarding the ending. Unless it's a teaser for Mass Effect 3, Part 2.

And now I think my head exploded. :) Lots of speculation, indeed...

Nope, that is NOT what they said.

They said that they always intended to release DLC...which is rather like them stating that they intended to continue breathing.

Since the talk is about 'clarrifying' the endings, maybe I should clarify my position to Bioware;

If you keep the current endings and 'explain' them, you lose customers, money and will sink into obscurity.

Ok I'm going to say it because we all know it needs to be said. We are all hoping for the best possible outcome at PAX and today there have been little hints that there may be more to things than meet the eye. But please remember that there is no official confirmation yet either way so stay hopeful but don't get your hopes up too high in case PAX doesn't go the way we hope.

Not necessarily dying. Perhaps just being severly hurt. I would not want the story to end with Shep dead.

Just saying...

This is what I was saying many pages ago - Mass Effect 3: Part 2. That would be the best thing ever (as long as the endings are good). I want to destroy the Reapers in the Sol system and then go take back the worlds of all our friends and allies!
